I'm currently on a 2 Rogue/5 Wizard. I've been soloing, so staying alive is a bit important. I was thinking of raising UMD so as to make use of Cure Moderate Wound wands, which are a better value than Cure Light. I also have an Eternal Cure Minor which is a pain to use even with my cleric. This character hits about 45% of the time with the cure minor.
Hope you're still with me. Just wanted to lay down some background info.
Last night I leave the Necropolis and drop into the Objet Desire in House P. There is a wand of Cure Serious Wounds for 12k gold. A chunk of change in my present situation, but wait...there is no warning exclamation mark on the icon. UMD of 28. Check cure minor. UMD of 15 and it warns me I have 45% chance of activation.
Off to the market to check on the cure moderate wand. UMD of 24 and it has a warning and a description which tells me I have no chance to activate.
So my question is, why would I be able to use a cure serious with a higher UMD, but not a cure moderate? I went ahead and bought it, but haven't used it yet. I'm about to log in and you may hear screaming if I spent 12k on something I can't use after all.

you sure it wasn't a repair serious wand? as a wizard youre able to use those on fellow warforged. it looks different though and is not up front in the buy list...
I have seen this too. My wizard is able to use a Cure Serious Wand without fail, but not a Cure Moderate Wand. I just fork over the cash for the better wand and am praying DDO doesn't fix this rather obvious error.
There's currently a bug that treats all spells on dragonmarks as if they were on the Wizard spell list for the purposes of using items.
Cure Serious is on the Jorasco dragonmark line, thus ends up not needing a UMD check for this character.
We've fixed it internally, so it'll eventually make its way up to the live servers, but it didn't seem critical enough to rush into a patch.
Just please make sure it does not BORK the end rewards from the EGG hunt when you do so. Those Rods of Teleport and Cure MOderate Wounds are really only useful if they can be used by characters who would not normally be able to use such items or spells.

Candy canes cast a Heal moderate spell, which means that HP recovery is identical for WF and fleshies. This is not a spell we have in our active lists and should not be effected by the dragon mark issue. (I say active because I have no idea how they have things coded in the background to allow everyone to use them.)

Those are also Rods not Wands. They function differently.

Size matters? (that particular "rod" was probably coded up just like a wand, honestly. If I recall correct, rods recharge, wands do not. *reads up on it* meh.. close enough. That and anyone can use rods.)

I'm sorry this can't be true. I've been repeatedly told that Turbine immediately patches any bug that is beneficial to the players and will delay fixing anything that hurts players. Therefore, this must be part of your nefarious plan to nerf Clerics, Favored Souls, Paladins, Rangers and all UMD builds.
