League of Elite Adventurers - New Non-zerging Guild
We are setting up a new guild on the Sarlona server.
The guild is the League of Elite Adventurers. It is dedicated to working together through quests - i.e., letting the scout classes scout, the rogue take care of the traps, the heavy fighters hitting first, the spellcasters do what they do best, and even letting the clerics hit the front lines some (after all, they are designed for combat!).
Zerging (rushing in and through the quests as fast as possible) isn't what the guild is about - it has a place in the game for many players, but not our focus. We prefer to complete most objectives and go through the adventures as a group working together and staying in a group through the quest.
Easy-going guild with no stringent requirements. To join, mail or send a tell to: Mezros or let any guild member on know you are interested.
The guild really has nothing to do with whether one should or shouldn't zerg. I've seen it done well and it can be fun at times. But, I've seen it attempted all too often where it ends with everyone dead. The guild focuses on working together and staying together and exploring the zones. There are plenty of groups and places to zerg if one wishes and that is great (as I even enjoy it every now and then).
I've met non-zergers in many other guilds, but haven't seen a guild dedicated to it - if there is, that's great and there probably is - I just haven't run into them yet.
I have seen RP guilds, and that can be fun too and likely they don't "zerg", but again, that wouldn't be the focus of this guild even though I also enjoy RP. And, I would agree that in many ways Neverwinter Nights works better for RP, but not in all ways.
And, non-zergers can definitely do elite levels and be "elite" unless one mistakenly believes zerging itself means "elite" as it doesn't - it has more to do with quickly finishing a zone often by the group members running off in very different directions. Though of course, the definition of zerging does seem to vary from person to person.
Is everyone having a good time derailing this legitimate guild start thread into personal flame wars? Seems pretty rude to me.
This would be a great guild for new players, giving them a chance to learn the game and truly experience the quests rather than just treating the MP and Harbor as XP grind-fests.
I dont have a character on Sarlona, but thinking of starting one up just to join. What time are you folks usually on?
Thanks JetEskimo. You are correct that it would definitely benefit newer players. My first player was a cleric (fortunately) and it was sure hard to keep up with the average group. Fortunately being a cleric, I had some pull to get them to slow down a little (assuming of course, they wanted me there when they were fighting to heal 'em). It can also be fun to explore the side quests that are often skipped.
And, if you, for example, take the time with a full group of Level 1's, you can complete all the level 1 quests in just a few hours - getting all the side quests, and smashing all the barrels, getting all the secret doors/traps, etc. - and go from "normal" through "elite" and by the time you finish, be level 3 (or very close to it).
The guild is still pretty small and the players vary in levels and time zones. I'm usually on from about 5 pm or so to midnight Central Time.
While most of my toons are on Thelanis, I do have a few I mess around with on Sarlona, adn would love to get them in a nice guild that focuses on taking their time in quests. I will be on tonight and try and look you guys up, not sure what your lvl range is though.

Never. Its my understanding it doesn't drop in the harbor.
Good. I don't want to have to fish it out.
Yup, you know the real DDO score, pal. It's all about capping your character in a week. If you're not running Vault of Night in hour 2, you're lagging.

It sounds like it will be a good guild.
Wishing you all the best.
