Observers are advised to join the raid group as early as possible to secure/claim their seat.
Contest rules:
The Observers and the Stewards are not to participate, hinder or help any contestant.
Any Observer obstruction will null the fight, and it shall be declared a no contest.
The offending Observer will forfeit their refund to the Stewards, in the case of a no contest.
Raid Group: 2 contestants, 2 Stewards and up to 8 Observers.
Fight Rules:
Fight winner will be the best out of 5 rounds.
Any fighter objections will need to be supported by screenshots.
No Power Word Stun.
Fighters can agree to other rules such as:
No Otto's Irresistible Dance.
No Shroud crafted or dragon touched armor guard items.
Wagering rules:
All wagers are only to be taken by the stewards.
All wagers shall be accepted and paid out in whole platinum pieces.
All wager holders and their amounts and their payoff shall be made public.
Minimum wager is 5,000 platinum pieces.
Prize Purse shall be:
14% of gross pool, plus any platinum added as a Seed.
100% rounded down to the platinum piece of Prize purse will be awarded to the winner of the contest.
The remaining breakage money will not be distributed by the stewards.
Commission shall be:
6% of gross pool.
Net Pool shall be calculated as follows:
Gross Pool minus Prize Purse and Commission, plus any platinum added as a Seed shall be considered the Net Pool.
Payout Rules:
A winning wager pays the Net Pool Divided by the amount of winning platinum times the cost of the original wager rounded down to the platinum piece.
A Minus Pool is defined as the situation where the overwhelming majority of gross pool belongs to a favorite contestant and the favorite wins. This results in a theoretical situation where the payout is less than the original cost of the winning wager. In order to circumvent this problem the following additional rules will be implemented:
In the case of a Minus Pool, Payout on a winning wager shall be never be less than the cost of the original wager.
In the case of a Minus Pool, remaining coin after paying even coin to the winners shall be used as the prize purse.
In the case of a Minus Pool, no commissions shall be collected or realized by the Stewards with the exception of any breakage that occurs as a result of the Prize Purse distribution.
All coin retained by the Stewards in the form of commission or breakages, will be used as seed money for future contests and/or further charitable community events, as they deem fit.
For the third contest, we have eliminated the lose prize and reallocated that money towards the commission, this is in an effort generate coin to put towards future contest and server events.
Hi everyone, welcome to the OAB (Online Arena Betting) thread!
For those unfamiliar with Parimutuel betting, allow me to provide a simpler explanation:
This service will allow PvPers to earn plat for doing what they do best. There is no entry fee for contenstants, yet you stand to make a good chunk of cash for each fight.
For those not interested in participating in PvP, the betting service offers a fun and organized way to have a "day at the races". For those who prefer the "off-track betting" style, this is for you too! Bettors need not be present to collect their winnings! Of course, being a high-end bettor will land you the added bonus of ring-side seating!
All bets are insured against loss, theft, fire, and flood by QwijyBank.
This service brought to you by two of Stormreach's best known vendors - Tackilack's Greensteel Service and QwijyMart! Whether you need a Greensteel blank fresh from the altar or a stack of heal scrolls, Qwijilack GreenMart has you covered!
Ditto... I've actually never pvped and my toons aren't built for it, but this might actually be fun to either be in, or be a spectator. Once some matches get booked, you may have a Whale coming in, we all know I'm a gambler, lol. 25 million plat spent on coins might give that away.

Whales only apply in the cases where you are betting against the house.
In a parimutuel situation you are betting against the other bettors.
Probably the simplest and most common example of parimutuel wagering is the lottery...
Say you went into the quickiemart and bought 1 billion lottery tickets, therefore the almost all the money bet in the lottery is yours... assuming you won... you would get back your own money... minus the skims...
It would be self defeating to make a single large wager, as it would skew the payoffs, possibly causing a minus pool situation.

Actually, yes... you'd also get more if you lost!
The "Prize Purse", or coin given out to the contestants, is based on the size of the gross pool, or total money bet (and/or seeded).
So, let's say Boldrin comes in with a million plat bet against you. The gross pool is, say, 2 million plat (Boldrin's 1 mil plus 1 mil from everyone else). If you won the match, your payout (from the prize purse) would be 280,000pp. If you lost the match, you'd still get paid 70,000pp.

But wait...
You mean that all I gotta do to get a chance at this prize money is sign up as a fighter?

I'll go ahead and pretend I didn't read this. Some wiseacre is gonna ask me to join in knowing full well I'm completely gimped and I'll end up drunk as heck doing it. Gosh I hope this is on a night I have a gig to go to.
