What a summer it’s been! Everyone here on the DDO team has been working like crazy to get DDO: Eberron Unlimited ready for launch. Today, we are pleased to announce that DDO Unlimited has "gone gold,” meaning that we are locked in with final release versions of all components!
For the last several weeks, we have been rigorously testing all parts of the DDO service. We did everything possible to hit our original August launch date, but unfortunately we found that some added software tuning and additional hardware was needed to hit our launch targets at our desired quality levels. Last night we hit a major milestone as we passed our launch readiness test on all game and service components!
With that news, we are ready to announce that the game is ready for launch and we are coming to the end of our beta for DDO Unlimited. The last day of beta will be next Monday 8/17.
We would like to express our huge appreciation to our beta community for helping us get DDO Unlimited ready for our launch! We couldn’t have done it without you! We will do a final event on Monday night to let us have one last celebration before we go dark for a bit. As an added thank you, we will also be setting a 100% xp boost on Lamannia from now until the end of Beta.
Our team has already been working hard to get the live servers ready for launch. Over the last 2 weeks we have successfully upgraded all of the game and database servers on the current worlds to handle expected increases in load. Hopefully, if you’ve been playing on live you’ve already noticed the improved performance from this hardware alone. More optimizations are coming in the DDO Unlimited build, so we expect even better performance when we launch!
There are a lot more announcements and launch details still to come in the next few weeks. Please keep checking DDO.com and our forums for more news as it becomes available.
We hope you are as excited about the launch as we are! There are many great things ahead for DDO Unlimited. This is just the beginning.
Good to see the official announcement for this when reading about it on MMOrpg.com and seeing nothing here. I have but one question, is there going to be a download link for a partial update so when it goes live for VIP's we are not waiting a while for a large patching of the game client with all the new content and changes to the game? All of us would appreciate the ability to do a pre-patch to lessen the patching required to get it to the latest and greatest.
Cheers and looking forward to the new stuff going live.
While this is great news.. I gotta tell ya.. Lag this week in the Shroud is as bad as ever if not worse.
On Lamannia?

Wait...I thought I was the executive producer. Oh well, I ought to be. Can I have your job? Anyway, gg beta, and let's go on M9! And I hope we don't have to wait another year for an update. Let's start getting things out every 3 months, shall we?

And, I'm only half-kidding. While this is indeed the best news to grace the forums for a while, I just cannot bring myself to believe The Powers That Be around here anymore without substantial proof - and not just a spin-post. I'm sorry Fernando, but you have next to no "street-cred" with many people like me on the forums. After all, things looked great for the Aug. release until they didn't.
I'll believe y'all plan on delivering Mod 9 when I can play Mod 9 on the live servers. Nothing beyond tangible proof is good enough anymore.
I won't be this guy again...
...you've fooled us all more than one too many times.

Don't do that, Tarrant. If you keep fixing his mistakes, he'll never learn.

why end the Beta 2 weeks before live? Unless you guys are pushing up the release date, this change is a bad move. I understand wanting to lock into your RC, but at the very least the Beta may help you get a leg up on your first patch for bug fixes.
Well, I guess I'll just have to hope that means your are breaking your deadline with an early release...
