Here is a thread where you can all list the stuff you would like Lynnabel to fix, since she requested, um, requests.
To start off:
Please make the collectable spots in Search and Rescue actually give collectables.
Thank you!

oh no it's a rabbit hole
So Kintani and I spent a long time a week ago playing around with that quest. I've verified that they should work, made sure they weren't under geometry, moved stuff around, and... nothing. I don't know. I legitimately do not know. It's the same mushroom or shelf or whatever that's in hundreds of places, it's not incorrectly attached to some random scripting. He had to head back and work on his dungeon for U36 and I messed around a little more with it, but... gah. It's impossible. The quest is haunted. If I get more time before U36 I'll take a look, but last time I poked my head in Search and Rescue on /dev/ (I was turning all the one-way-portals around so they work in the right direction) it was still broken.
Don't tell anyone but I can't fix everything :<

Yeah, I know, right? I spend most of my time trying to learn everything I can from Steelstar and Nohbob, but they're basically DDO wizards and I'm still pretty limited in my skillset. As the summer goes on I'll get faster at this stuff, but for right now, the things I'm best at are changing text around (NPC or otherwise - if it's written, I can fix it), changing icons for enhancements, and helping persuade the forums that everything is okay :P

Well Lynnabel, 1st off, thanks for taking at task a lot of the fixes that the player base has been vocal *and helpful* about reporting and trying workarounds. Even if the Gros Fromage gave you the work load, I wanted to say thanks for posting.
As for your statement,......*ahem*........ only ONE dev ever said the contrary on these boards. And soon there-after, that situation was amended. :o

Lagspikes in Thunderholme
Thunderholme's performance issues are caused by the same effects that cause lag in other places. Thunderholme being such a large space just makes them worse. As we work hard to improve the performance of DDO (usually at the bottom of every patch note there's a line about "stacking effects" etc), Thunderholme will gradually get better :)

Hey Lynn, i got a good 30-minute-project for you. Could you make an UI option similar to Show/Hide guildie log-ons in the guild chat? Except instead its Show/Hide the guild renown you get for killing mobs. It's super invasive and makes it impossible to keep up with guild chat and log ons.
Preferably have it default to Off for everyone. Or just remove it completly, i doubt anyone care about this information. There is already a pop up message on screen when you earn renown so no information is lost to the player.
If a player would spam the guild chat in the same way that these guild renown messages do, s/he'd get squelched and booted from most guilds... Pet peeve of mine :P

Why not move the geometry/assets into the center of the rooms and see if it works. From everything I have seen with these kinds of games, what pathing clips and disables is a mystery at times.

Class related rewards for end rewards.
I just did three of the four orchard quests and got great swords, great axes, great clubs, battle axes and heavy armor.
On a monk.
OK, I did get a couple nice q-staves as well, but no handwraps or kamas at all.

I know this one.
The class rewards don't work if there are any "special" items on the end lists; and the useless Mystical Urn counts as special.
As a suggestion: returning Shuriken should be added to the treasure lists (and end reward lists) so they aren't extremely rare.

Move the collectable to an all together new spot?
Something I'm wondering... the collectibles that don't work in there... are the exact ones that were in there *before* the crafting pass, and collectibles were added to all the Faerun quests. And they worked then... and stopped working after the pass. So I'm kinda wondering if that has something to do with it.
Which gives TitusOvid's suggestion some merit. Just delete those ones that don't work altogether, and create new ones nearby.

We can hope for that, but my experience is that when things are improved so that Thunderholme gets better then some new thing in an update will break it completely again, because SSG add something that is not tested well enough.
I have seen Thundeholme get better over time after several patches as you say, then comes an update with something new and it is back to unplayable again.
The problem is not that you are not doing a good job at improving it, it is that you regularly break it again.

Can you please add dcs to tooltips for slas - particularly the warlock slas as they have been confirmed (by players: me included, and devs) to have issues in the past, one I know is still standing.
Devour the soul is most problematic as the dc formula listed is wrong - and CAN only be tested via pvp testing.
DCs to all tooltips should be listed though imo - not having the dcs just punishes new players who haven't memorized the player or dev confirmed true formulas.
I've requested this many times of devs and it seems ever so slowly that one or two tooltips are fixed but even some of the newer tooltips (like warlock ones) are missing what I would consider a fundamental/vital ux component/information.

My input to the list would be something that's supposed to be on someone else's desk already - the breaking CC weapons related to Keen. Waiting patiently for that to be fixed and seeing if there will be an official protocol to follow to try getting our augments that those buggy weapons ate replaced.

Splash screen when entering 3 barrel cove, broken, fixed, then broken again.
Drinking a potion and nothing happens. This is usually if you are swinging a weapon or moving on uneven terrain, and sometimes level terrain. This seems to also happen to spells as well.
Why isn't your spell penetration shown on the character sheet? Clearly the game is calculating this value.
Break enchantment spell has become buggy and in some cases will not remove an ice storm, symbol, or other effect no matter where its cast.
Trap boxes that are buggy and you have to fish for the perfect spot to disable even though there is nothing blocking them. You get error box is blocked when they arent blocked. Spies in the house trap box in electric shaft comes to mind (there are others).
Mysterious remnants and chests spawning in the floor or terrain and can not be collected. Why?

All the healer hirelings seem to be broken or break fairly quickly after summoning. I notice it most right after they get stuck and I have to teleport them to me; after that, errrnnnttt! Nada healing for you!
Also, the alternate AI interface is completely borken.
That being said, I am more excited for the new cleric/fvs update that I have been since the level 20+ expansion, and before that the level 16+ expansion (that was a long year, but the raid scene was AWESOME!)

I actually appreciate the renown messages quite a bit, though I am in a small guild and we seldom use guild chat to actually communicate. So I would say NO to removing it completely. Making it it's own channel as an option OR a toggle I would be fine with as I can see how larger guilds or guilds that use the channel would find that difficult but removing it entirely would get my goat for sure.

We've got similar spell - Greater shout, which is cone based and applies a cc effect, and we've got the frozen effect from bard warchanter and cannith challenge frozen tunic which work correctly.
All the code necessary to make this work should be available. I'm not a programmer but some clever copy pasting maybe enough to fix this unnecessary charm check.

While we wait for a more meaningful revamp of the LFM panels...
List all quests separated by level even if it means duplicating the heroic and epic versions.
It is pita to sort around the adventure compendium to see what quests are flaggers, chains, etc.. line Von1-6 is all over the place mixed in with other quests/packs/chains...
Could you reorganize descriptions so the story arcs are in some semblance of an order..
Something like
Level 8 Von Flag1 Tharask arena
Level 8 Von Flag2 The Prisoner
Level 9 Von Flag3 Jungle of Khyber
Level 9 Von Flag4 Harverdasher
Level 10 Von Raid1 Vault of Night
Level 10 Von Raid2 Plane of Night
Level 21 EVon Flag1 Tharask arena
Level 21 EVon Flag2 The Prisoner
Level 22 EVon Flag3 Jungle of Khyber
Level 22 EVon Flag4 Harverdasher
Level 22 EVon Raid1 Vault of Night
Level 22 EVon Raid2 Plane of Night
Level 21 ES1-Flag1 Impossible Demands
Level 21 ES1-Flag2 Unquiet Graves
Level 21 ES1-Flag3 The Lost Thread
Level 21 ES1-End Arc Battle for Eveningstar
etc...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall, the LFM tools and Adventure compendium sorting.. is annoying..
the current LFM quest selection process is a PITA. trying to find the quest within the level range
Epics are listed under heroics (if they have heroic and epic versions)
Things I would like to see updated and improved...
When I enter a quest or am running a chain allow my LFM to automatically update the quest based on the quest I am in. (enter quest. create/update LFM ~ y/n ~).
add an share button to the create LFM window and/or auto-share when players first join my LFM., saves having to look it up and manually share.
It's near to QoL than fix-needed-thing, but I'd like to write this.
Can we have an option for quivers as we can only auto-gather one ammunition type... like having two buttons "Gather Arrows" and "Gather Bolts" at quiver autogather option.
because It's annoying they gather arrows and bolts both even if people only use one of them. You only use bolts? then your quiver will finally get full of arrows as you used all bolts in the quiver!
This is what I recommended for that:
Doing that is way beyond Lynn's level though (and is probably beyond the level of most of the people at SSG since it would require working with the UI and there aren't nearly enough goats left to sacrafice to make touching the UI possible).
I was going to suggest, I wonder if the same idea might work for those collectables in Search and Rescue. Just copy and pasting functional nodes from elsewhere of the same style and tier.
I know that I've done something along those lines while playing with the editor for games like Oblivion or Skyrim. Just don't know if the editor for DDO functions in a similar way.
Dirty and kinda lazy, but if it works, it works. :p
Some more softballs:
Belly of the Beast, Feryl's dialog: Even on normal difficulty the DC is higher then 50. This is the only dialog option I can think of that even lists the DC in the NPC text and it's off by at least 5 on normal (I think it's 65+ on elite).
Elminster displays a quest in progress icon rather then a quest complete chalice after finishing the Beyond the Rift quest:
When you cast the Renewal ability on someone with less then 50% health, the shield is supposed to be cast on the target. Instead, the shield gets self-cast on you.
Steadfast claims that you cannot be knocked down while in Standing Against the Tide stance. The cannons in Prove Your Worth beg to differ. (side note: This seems to be an issue with all KD immunities and various forms of KD in the game. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what does and doesn't constitute a KD.)
Thank you Lynnabel for the work you are doing. These things may be minor, but they make a big difference in the player's perception of the quality of the game. In my opinion, there should always be at least one person at SSG who does this kind of work - quality control.
You are awesome. I am really glad to see that the loot pass was not simply forgotten. I know you all have a lot to do, but it is really disconcerting when a system is changed, problems remain, but dev time is simply moved onto the next thing.
Is there any hope at all that extra effects, or at least some indication that an item has one, will be listed in the name or indicated on the item's icon somehow? In my opinion, this is one of the biggest faults of the loot pass because if you are looking specifically for the extra effect, then you have to mouse over each item to see if it even has an extra effect and, if so, what it is, which is just an unnecessarily cumbersome and tedious process.
Thank you for not letting the loot pass be left in an unfinished state.
Auto attack turns off when you die, as well:
-Switching to Warlock Cone-shaped Eldritch blast
-Searching (I think)
-Caster certain spells (I think I remember that from when I was a Melee FVS)
IMO, auto-attack should stay on until you explicitly disable it; otherwise you potentially loose half of second of DPS before you remember to turn it back on.
Is this bug or a feature? If auto-attack is left on while dead, does your spirit remain in the fighting stance? Would a valid workaround be to check a Boolean when you raise from the dead or finish searching?
This bug doesn't affect me personally as I am VIP and can access new enhancements through the icon on main page. But I have noticed that I cannot access new enhancements (of course after I earned them) by trainers. They simply do not let me and the trees do not show up. I must assume non-VIP's are getting access to the tree's via trainers or their would be much more noise -- or maybe everybody can access through their main page and so no one has mentioned this.
Warlock - Soul Eater Enhancement Capstone: Devour the Soul
Supposedly a Necromancy spell and increases DC via Necromancy boosts (Items, enhancements, etc). But my tests show it is a Conjuration spell instead that accepts Necro boosts. Was this intended or a bug that needs changing/fixing?
The Trainer's "Enhancements" option stopped functioning back when they launched the "new" (at the time) Enhancement Tree system with the Shadowfail expansion.
Nobody really cared much that I recal, because it was such a blessing being able to just use the Enhancements button from the DDO Symbol/Button anywhere instead of always having to go a trainer for Enhamcement fiddling.
does this mean U36 is coming out this week? I mean the type of fixes you are doing should be the continual improvement to the game that is updated weekly, and since the servers are restarted every week, can't they just load your fixes in each week? Then you'll know if they work on live in a relatively short timeframe but if you have to wait weeks then you may forget how you fixed it in the first place....
I can't decide if this means that Steel is Elminster, coming in after everything is done... or Oriphaun, who gets kidnapped and needs rescuing twice, and then claims "We did it! You, me..."
I'd watch the hell out of that live-stream.
Auto-attack also turns off with playing bard songs, which I'm finding especially annoying on my ranged ranger because in boss fights I almost always just hit auto-attack (I don't generally play like that, though). And leveling Fatesinger, I keep singing... and then standing there watching the screen for like 2 minutes before realizing that I'm not attacking except with my special attacks, usually when I stop with the special attacks to type something in chat lol And also almost always after I've used a manyshot...
This may be outside your purview, but worth tossing out there just in case: Remember our toggles between sessions.
Power Attack (Precision stays toggled, so power attack should too)
Sacred Defender stance
Stalwart Defender stance
Eschew Materials (Is this the only metamagic that doesn't stay toggled? It's annoying.)
Those are the only ones I'm familiar with. I'm sure others know more.
EDIT: In case anyone is wondering about Eschew Materials, I use it for favor farming and when I make bank mules, both of which I often split into multiple gaming sessions to mitigate the tedium. It's annoying to have to manually right-click each and every spell on my hotbars to say "use eschew" and it's also annoying to get the message "you don't have the component" when I actively engage enemies I wanna kill.
Steel answered this one awhile ago.
Basically DDO was programmed really, really, really well and these abilities break when you log out and back on so if DDO remembered your toggle settings for them, you'd have to turn them off and back on again anyways. In order to 'force' players to re-toggle them they just have them set to shut off. A lesser of two evils scenario.
Unfortunately the way these abilities work and the systems they tie into are programmed (again) really, really, really well so it'll be some time before they can fix it. From what I understand they're on the radar to fix sometime around the time they figure out how to fix the ladder glitch.
I got all that, and I'm glad she's doing it. I'm asking if there's any hope of fixing the complete lack of indication that an item has a bonus effect on it, thus forcing players to have to mouse over every single item to determine exactly what it offers. Because the bonus effects are often desirable, the unnecessarily tedious nature of searching for them is the biggest failure of the lootgen pass in my opinion. Many different suggestions have been made since the pass about how to fix this. Anything would be an improvement at this point.
I'm part of a team, not working alone :) Steelstar is my mentor and has helped me every step of the way. Also, Sev is a space ninja or something. DDO is in great hands, seriously.
Just because what I'm doing is visible doesn't mean it's important. Right now we've got a huge number of people working on very important stuff, and I know if you guys knew what specifically you'd choose them over me, seriously. Luckily, no one has to choose anyone for anything, and the DDO team can work together to bring years of amazing content to you guys :)
These fixes are big now, but in a year, two years? Five years? Ten? The content, the classes, the events, that's what will keep people playing and happy. Right now, everyone but me is working on stuff like that.
Supposedly a Necromancy spell and increases DC via Necromancy boosts (Items, enhancements, etc). But my tests show it is a Conjuration spell instead that accepts Necro boosts. Was this intended or a bug that needs changing/fixing?
J1NG
As far as I'm aware (granted I haven't tested in over a year), Devour the Soul follows the following formula: 10 (base) + 8 (spell level) + charisma mod + necro school bonuses. Note that there is a hilarious feature which made people think it was coded as a 6th level spell - if you have heighten on, it brings the spell level down from an 8 to a 6. Further warlock level 100% doesn't factor into the formula at all. The formula above has been confirmed via pms, forum posts, etc. by devs.
Still given the misalignment between the tooltip formula description and the actual empirical formula, there could be something with conjuration dcs hidden - note it would have to be something EXTREMELY bizarre like "uses the higher of conjuration or necromancy bonus". When I did my tests a while back, I incremented various school bonuses (all except abjuration and transmutation) in an effort to be thorough.
These fixes are big now, but in a year, two years? Five years? Ten? The content, the classes, the events, that's what will keep people playing and happy. Right now, everyone but me is working on stuff like that.
Steel answered this one awhile ago.
Basically DDO was programmed really, really, really well and these abilities break when you log out and back on so if DDO remembered your toggle settings for them, you'd have to turn them off and back on again anyways. In order to 'force' players to re-toggle them they just have them set to shut off. A lesser of two evils scenario.
Unfortunately the way these abilities work and the systems they tie into are programmed (again) really, really, really well so it'll be some time before they can fix it. From what I understand they're on the radar to fix sometime around the time they figure out how to fix the ladder glitch.
so... they could program it to toggle off.. but not back on again...
yup that's evil..
I'm part of a team, not working alone :) Steelstar is my mentor and has helped me every step of the way. Also, Sev is a space ninja or something. DDO is in great hands, seriously.
Just because what I'm doing is visible doesn't mean it's important. Right now we've got a huge number of people working on very important stuff, and I know if you guys knew what specifically you'd choose them over me, seriously. Luckily, no one has to choose anyone for anything, and the DDO team can work together to bring years of amazing content to you guys :)
These fixes are big now, but in a year, two years? Five years? Ten? The content, the classes, the events, that's what will keep people playing and happy. Right now, everyone but me is working on stuff like that.
Lynnabel, firstly no offense to any of the others putting in the hard yards on the awesome stuff that is to come, I truly mean that, but I cannot stress enough to you that visible *IS* important. You only have to look at the community response to how visible, interactive and communicative you've been to see how important that is to us.
Perhaps b/c the others are so tied up busy that they don't have time to be as visible as you have been, or have their heads so firmly entrenched in mind-bending spaghetti code that they can't take time out of that without wrecking their flow, but that only makes it more important that if/while they are not able to do that, that someone else can.
Secondly, I get the excitement of moving on to bigger and better things, but please please please don't do it at the expense of the little things like those you've been working on. That has been happening for a long time now, and the result is that a myriad of little (but extremely annoying / disappointing) things that could've been fixed, haven't been, in favour of the "bigger and better things". You have only to look at how many fantastic things you've been able to address in a very short time to see that.
It's all very well to imagine all the amazing stuff that will come in the next 5 or 10 years, but imagine if we'd had someone for the LAST 5 or 10 years, spending a small amount of time here and there on some of the little things like you've been doing, and communicating that back to the player base ? Please don't lose that, it's a wonderful thing you've done.
Hehe, and last, I didn't mean to disparage Steel or Sev in any way, I was just cracking up at the mental image LrdSlvrHnd conjured up and I ran with the ball a bit. Sorry if it fell flat.
Nearly every big systems change in the last couple of years has just looked like power creep and homogenization to me, and most of the newer quests feel like they consist of groups of monsters standing around in the middle of a corridor doing nothing - unlike all the unique mechanics in older quests (although most of those unique mechanics are superseded by aforementioned power creep now anyway).
So fixing descriptions and typos? Yes, to me that's much more important than the Very Important Stuff - and I don't think it's just important for vets who groan at seeing the same typo or wrong loading screen for the 110th time despite bug reporting it once a year since 2012, but it's even more important for the new player who quickly realises that half the abilities don't do what they say in the description and gives up on the game because nothing makes sense.
Keep up the good work, and don't feel any shame about distracting other devs from the systems work if you need help on how to fix the bugs!
Hey Steelstar, work Lynnabel super hard so she gets to the point she can make a dungeon before her internship ends!
Or Severlin...or both!
Basing this off her propensity for MS Paint stuff, it would probably involve the players jumping into a sort of bizarre magical living drawing (or a Myth Drannor painting like in the Haunted Halls, but bad) and having to fight against 8-color palette line drawings. Or something like A-ha's Take On Me music video (https://youtu.be/djV11Xbc914).
Hmmm.... Wait a minute. That actually might be kind of cool.
As far as I'm aware (granted I haven't tested in over a year), Devour the Soul follows the following formula: 10 (base) + 8 (spell level) + charisma mod + necro school bonuses.
Er, no. I'm not concerned about the DC. That's an entirely separate issue to what I'm bringing up. :)
When I did my tests a while back, I incremented various school bonuses (all except abjuration and transmutation) in an effort to be thorough.
I didn't test for Conjuration DC boost working on it or not, but I can tell you that the School of the SLA : Devour the Soul is Conjuration, not Necromancy. That was what I was bringing up.
So, let's say for example, you had a Spell Immunity : Conjuration. This SLA will totally fail at the moment because it has been typed to the Conjuration school. And it's this I'm making the query to look into.
EDIT: In case anyone is wondering about Eschew Materials, I use it for favor farming and when I make bank mules, both of which I often split into multiple gaming sessions to mitigate the tedium. It's annoying to have to manually right-click each and every spell on my hotbars to say "use eschew" and it's also annoying to get the message "you don't have the component" when I actively engage enemies I wanna kill.
I personally use Eshew Materials feat for any caster build ( yea, I know it's do all my builds slightly suboptimal 8) ) and for almost 2 years of playing I never have this issue. So, it's really strange.
Steel is the man! Some of the absolute best changes to the game have been his work. From Swashbuckler to the end fight at Slave Lords... I've been a fan of the things he's been doing for some time. Not a bad guy to talk to either, just good luck getting him into a conversation. :)
Also, Sev is a space ninja or something. DDO is in great hands, seriously.
Sev seems like the type who needs a personal assistant to keep him organized and to write memos he can sign his name to. He might be really busy, but he really should make more time for the players. Or, he should give someone else the authority to address our concerns and assign them the task of dealing with the community. Hell, Cordovan has been around forever and is already dealing with the community, giving him broader authority to address player concerns would make sense. Plus, even though I don't always agree with him, Cordo is a good guy who clearly cares about the game and the players.
A large part of why what you do is visible is because you are awesome at communication. Your concern for the player experience and the game are evident.
Ughh... if I correct understand your issue ( English not native for me ), you need manually set <always on> option for each individual spell after relog? If so, yes, I never have such problem, this option, set <on> once, always work for me after relog.
You only have to look at the community response to how visible, interactive and communicative you've been to see how important that is to us.
I imagine the DDO devs are pretty insular because if you talk to people outside the community (like on say, general purpose gaming subreddits, DnD subreddits, etc...), DDO has gotten a reputation of being a 'release and move on' type game. The game lacks polish and when I say lacks I mean there is a dearth of polish in DDO. A lot of it can be contributed to an outdated UI sure, but eventually you have to stop blaming all your troubles on things you can't/won't fix.
So I 100% agree. The most important things they could be working on right now is making the game pretty. Now, I don't want to get Lynn in trouble and read too much into what she said (I imagine she's just pandering to her employer), but when I read that their focus is on new content and that work polishing the game is secondary/sideline stuff it makes me believe that they're doing what we fear...attempting to milk the whales instead of attract new players.
Don't get me wrong, provided they don't botch the release of Ravenloft (please, -please- tell me you're in talks with some semi-popular variety streamers on Twitch to get them to play DDO for a few days before/after release...) we should see an influx of some new players but if the first thing they run into is a bunch of glitchy quests, items that don't work, a UI that hasn't been touched in 7 years, absolutely no direction or information about how to play the game unless you spend a month studying the wiki, a store page that rarely works and even when it does lacks basic store functionality (marking items as favorites, cosmetics only work sometimes even when it was in game, a freaking cart, etc...) and the only response they get from the community is 'yeah...you kinda get used to it..."
Blizzards entire gaming empire is built on -polish-. Their content is kinda blah, always has been. However, what makes them successful is that when you play a Blizzard game you know you're not going to run into glitch after glitch after glitch. When you play DDO it's an unending calvacade of awful UI elements and game glitches.
If all Lynn does is spend all day taking care of typo's, icon mismatches, creating basically an ISO standard for DDO naming schemes...she'll have done more to make DDO thrive long term then anything that went into U35. If I had to choose between 1 year of content updates or a complete UI overhaul, I would take the UI overhaul in a heartbeat.
Turning something off one wants to use isn't a "fix". At least for me, I do use the mouse-over tool-tip & comparison windows, but lose a lot of windows off the top of three screen. Would be great if the pop-ups would scale to fit within the game window. Along that same line, if you try to mouse-over a tool-tip too far to the right side of the window, the item just blinks and no tool-tip pops up. (Same fix might fix both issues?)
You're right, but history shows that a lot of "issues" that have any kind of in-game work-around, no matter how annoying, repetitive, or time consuming it might be tend to be at the very bottom of the dev 'to do' list.
And not showing the detail does remove the behavior of the item pop-up going off the screen. I didn't care for that work-around either at first, but over time I became familiar enough with the effects that I didn't need the detail, and now I don't even use the comparison option at all.
Tenser's Transformation has been bugged for years.
What happens: When Tenser's Transformation ends - you loose all the abilities you have gained through enhancements.
Fx. My previous character was a wizard, Eldritch Knight. When Tenser's Transformation ended, I lost martial training - meaning -20% to hit with my weapon and slowed.
Only fix was to either keep Tenser's Transformation up at all times or to:
1) Remove all weapons and armour
2) Relog
3) Reequip.
Simply relogging does NOT fix it.
Please see what you can do about this!
The DM voice when you kill end boss Turun Palo in Rainbow in the Dark is for some other event.
OOOH! This reminds me. Ghost of a Chance. It's part of the Three Barrel Cove line. There is one Dungeon Master voice that is VERY different from the others and reads a completely different script then what you see on the screen
The Dungeon Master, who sounds like the Mired In Kobolds DM ( which neither of the dungeon masters in this quest sound like,.proving it is in fact the wrong quest ) says "Chilling air comes rushing out" and speaks of rotting meat... however the message on the screen says "The cave leads into an ancient warehouse. This must be where Marteen's brother is being held Captive". A small fix ( hopefully ).
Also I agree 100% with the people on this thread who say these small fixes ARE important! A lot of people I've invited to the game over the year have seen typos and things like "Kill 3" and splash screens for the wrong zone and gone "Is this a china game? It has that china-imported-to-usa engrish feel" and most have quit >_>
So yeah, I for one love the fact you're going through and fixing the minor things.
If I had a say, i'd say that DDO should have one staff member whose job title is "Fixing The Little Things" and their job is to handle stuff like this.
No. What you are doing is important. Don't let ANYONE - and especially not yourself! - tell you otherwise. These types of things makes the game look better, and that is a good thing. It's like reading a self-published/self-edited book. You might enjoy the book, but you keep seeing typos and bad grammar and odd names because the author changed a character's name but didn't catch all of them, etc. What you're doing is making the game look more professional. It's a GOOD thing. It's an IMPORTANT thing. I don't care if they're quick & easy changes, they're still important. They're changes the others haven't been able to make because they haven't been able to carve the time out of their schedules bringing us the next bigger and better thing... but that doesn't make them unimportant.
WHAT YOU ARE DOING MATTERS A LOT, LYNNABEL.
This isn't a fix. There are weird effects that I don't know what they are that I want to see. And *most* items are fine. But when you get a lot of add-on effects to weapons, that really bloats it and suddenly I can't see everything to compare which is better when equipped without stopping and going to options and ui settings and trying to find it (although the search made that a lot easier).
Thank you for engaging the community. I know it's unrealistic to think that you can just magically step in and solve any problem, but I think the interaction with the community really goes a long way to put people at ease. Keep it up as much as you can!
My request - any chance of fixing Celestia? The biggest problem is any additions to weapon enhancement seem to break the DR bypass quality of the weapon by adding a damage type other than light. The second problem is the main portion of damage, even when it is light, not getting amped by things like shield of condemnation. Third, Greater Sunburst seems to get "turned off" when in undead form.
Note: I tested all of the above long ago when I had dreams of a dual celestia wielder. The Wiki still indicates the first two to be the case but lists test dates from long ago (it doesn't list the third at all).
Here's another one for the "crit threat thingie": kensei tier 5 keen edge doesn't increase crit range for wraps or unarmed if you have the martial arts focus, which explicitly includes wraps and unarmed combat, and even though other kensei "weapon" buffs work for those. A couple things to note:
The bug list for DDO is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to the DDO bug list.
Lynn has fresh eyes on the back end and isn't qualified enough to develop new content so they put her on the stuff that actually matters for long term player retention and customer satisfaction. This has been generally regarded as a great move by the playerbase so far.
This means that all the small stuff is actually getting attention and that's great. It's what we've been asking for for like...2 years now instead of new content shoveling out new bugs every module.
In addition, Lynn is amazingly annoying and the best way to get rid of her is to help her out so when she starts to pester Steel or Koko or any of the people who actually know what they are doing, we even get some fixes for the 'bigger' bugs.
That last part is conjecture but I'm willing to bet I'm not far off the mark on that one.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here? Are you saying it's acceptable for long standing
bugs such as ladders, load screens, missed actions (but on cooldown) etc. to remain unfixed because
there are lots of bugs?. You only have to look at the release notes to see what type of bugs are
being fixed (and are deemed worthy of a release note) to make a mockery of this.
That last part is conjecture but I'm willing to bet I'm not far off the mark on that one.
Just the last part?
First off, you're preaching to the choir here. Bug fixes and QOL improvements I feel should be their #1 focus. You asked for a way to submit bug reports, I linked the official channel that it happens through. It goes to their QA team who verifies the bug then it gets put on the bug list for them to work on.
Do I think it's acceptable that there are so many bugs in the game? Of course not. DDO is one of the glitchiest MMO's out there right now. I think that whatever applicable resources they have that can work on these sorts of things, should be and their hiring focus should be on bug fixes and adding more art assets (cosmetics) so that they can shift their economic model to rely more on non-content sales so we don't have the current problem where the only way they make money is shoveling out content as fast as possible leading to a huge degradation in quality.
I mean what more do you want? They have an official channel where you can submit most of your bug reports and it gets added to the pile for them to work on. You also have Lynn who is being extra vocal and interactive with the community on their official forums and has asked us "Hey guys, what do ~you~ want fixed and if it's within my power to do quickly, I will do it."
That's about as good as it gets for dev communication in games these days. You want her to give you her snap too so you can get daily updates on Taco Tuesday at the office or something?
I'm not exactly DDO's biggest fanboy here. I have some comments I'd love to make about Sev but I'm sure Cordo is just lurking around the corner with that infraction hammer ready to go. But when they do something right I'm not above being happy about it. I mean we'll see where we're at in 3 months when all the 'easy stuff' is fixed and now Lynn has to figure out how to fix arcane pulse snapshotting or whatever.
But until then I'm happy to be able to say:
"Hey Lynn...can Eldritch Wave, the T5 Warlock Soul Eater ability get the draconic breath treatment and no longer require a hard target? See the u34 patch notes."
Bug that i noticed in importance order:
1) Doppleganger bug in Hunted Halls: 4 runs for a single completition is the main reason coz i don't run that quest.
2) My handwraps are useless, i mean don't apply any effect as listed, don't wanna re-farm all.
3) Is quicken bug still up? Don't play caster by long time but i remember that yu could lose spells even with quicken up sometimes.
4) LFM bugs: ghosts, cannot see names, can't send tells...
5) Ladder bug: yea still up since 2010, pretty hilarius.
6) Loading screen download each time: the fix don't work anymore, and yea i got long time downloading coz i live in Italy where we still got copper lines.
Definitely still listening, right now I'm digging into what makes a passive "stick" and seeing if I can apply that script change to other similar things, such as the metallic weapon passive feats. Also, the whole "nonscaling UI" thing is potentially in the works, Sev mentioned putting it in the pipeline after Ravenloft, but just making our UI scale is a significant, gigantic project and would take a team quite some time to properly complete. It's not a QoL fix, it's a significant undertaking.
More importantly, bug reports significantly speed the bug fixing process. Calling them worthless really doesn't help me, or anyone. This thread isn't meant to replace bug reports, it's meant to allow the community to help me prioritize during my free time.
Speaking of bug reports.... for when we do feel like throwing a coin into the bug report wishing well because sometimes wishes do come true: Is there any chance of making some small tweaks to the bug report form that would make it twice as easy to use?
Made some suggestions here:
I feel very sad that you have to put in a disclaimer like that steely :/ Though I know what would happen if you didn't OMG THEY SAID THIS IS COMING OMG where is it?!?!?!
I'm hoping many of these long-standing bugs are listed in the U36 patch notes. Why? Because people who constantly say 'SSG only cares about new content not real bug fixes' can look at this list and go HOLY MOLY the list of bug fixes is longer then the new content!
Yes, there will always be those people who say 'Hey that's great you fixed all of these BUT WHAT ABOUT MY BUG', but you can't please everyone.
Also, as a friendly reminder to people poking abut the ladder bugs, it's been said many times they need to be fixed on an individual basis, so instead of just saying 'ladders are bugged' saying 'the ladder in questname, found at /loc still seems to not be working correctly' is far more useful to them :)
As someone teetering on the edge of not paying anything for this game and potentially not playing it any more after 11 years, let me try and voice my opinion clearly and respectfully:
You guys developed this game 11 years ago. That's a lifetime in videogame time. If you don't start undertaking "ambitious" and "hard" updates to this game at its core (engine/graphics/UI) it won't matter how many reskinned races and monsters and dungeons you put out every 3 months. The dwindling population and logins are very strong evidence of that. You've spent 11 years NOT updating the core of this game, how's that going for you? As a player, it's not going that well for me.
If you didn't update or change or release a single new thing for 9 months, but you released UI revamp and updated graphics engine (aka basically released DDO2), I think you would be pretty happy with a number of people who come back to play this no longer ancient and old looking game.
Just sayin'
My request - any chance of fixing Celestia? The biggest problem is any additions to weapon enhancement seem to break the DR bypass quality of the weapon by adding a damage type other than light. The second problem is the main portion of damage, even when it is light, not getting amped by things like shield of condemnation. Third, Greater Sunburst seems to get "turned off" when in undead form.
Note: I tested all of the above long ago when I had dreams of a dual celestia wielder. The Wiki still indicates the first two to be the case but lists test dates from long ago (it doesn't list the third at all).
I know the DR part was still borked as of a couple of months ago when I TR'd my Celestia-wielding bard (who broke it not one, not two, not three, but FOUR ways! Swashbuckling, Enchant Weapons, Harper Enchantment, and Arcane Past Life - Enchant Weapons). Can't say for the other two.
The ones that get me are the eNecros. At least those three, one's around the corner from the questgiver and two you have to talk to the questgiver to enter the quest anyway. But it rather bites getting out to Inferno and finding out you haven't picked it up (even worse if you haven't run it this life at all and have to run there... then go back to town to pick it up and run back out again).
How about adding exits on quests? Like druid chain...all have an exit at the beginning, except the final quest in the chain.
There are some quests I get don't have an exit because of flavor, like broken chains (you start in a jail cell), but many others have a rope or some other graphic entrance that just isn't interactable.
Oh, that reminds me, maybe add a warning to the Stormcleave Outpost entrance/exit? If you enter the quest, turn around and start walking, you get unceremoniously dumped out of the quest without warning. Not even anything to click on; one second you're walking, the next second you've messed up a reaper group.
On an unrelated note, I kind of get the feeling the Enemy Within dialog is "out of order" on purpose for flavor, but I wouldn't object if you corrected it such that option 1 is the equivalent of "yes, continue" and option 2 is the equivalent of "no thank you' like every other dialog in the game.
Hi Lynnabel,
Please forgive me if this is a dupe, but I would like to see fixed :
- Bard hires that decide its a good idea to rebuff bard songs in the middle of battle. i.e. When bards decide its ok to refresh bard songs (inspire courage, etc.). From my own experience, they will usually wait to do so until you are neck deep in orcs or skellies or other terrors instead of waiting until you are idle/safe. This has resulted in some unneeded visits to the blurry afterlife.
Please and thank you.
I was reminded of something today but I don't know if its the sort of thing Lynnabel handles, that is many TOEE items have icon border color issues. I know for certain the named robes have a green border icon instead of the proper blue border icon of named items. Many of the permutations of TOEE greatclubs have an orange bordered icon which usually indicates named raid loot not craftable named quest loot.
I didn't check to see if its still an issue but there used to be a graphical glitch with TOEE dwarven axes such that when you equipped them the elemental special effect floated above the actual head of the axe in the character's hands. I'll check later and if its still a problem I will post an image.
The Deep Gnome iconic's 'phantasmal killer' SLA has SLA in the description instead of 'spell-like ability'. I find using player-made abbreviations inside actual game texts a bit...unprofessional? This would especially be a bit odd if you didn't know what SLA meant. I'm sure there's a few other SLA's in the game that have this.
Quality of life improvements....
Popup Windows on the game view screen.
1. add resize corner to XP and Examination windows.
Not everything fits when viewing these windows..
and of course these constantly refresh and reset so it wont hold on the section you actually want to see
examination window gets screwed up anytime a buff is cast or an aura is going.. like paladins..
2. add expand/compression lines to each part of the XP window..
Kills, traps, secret doors, deaths, so we can shrink hide the details and just see the bonus levels.
or stop the screen from scrolling around automatically and stay where I set the slider...
3. add a lock for the map.. I like to keep my map open all the time, but every time I switch an instance or zone the map size resets or closes..
I don't care If I have a big black zone around a smaller map area, I would like to keep my map frame the same static size.
4. pop-ups for NPC's like vendors.. the windows don't remember where I place them on my screens..( I play on 3x24" monitors in 5760x1080 resolution.)
Vendor interface pops up on the far right side of my right screen.. when I [control][left click] to purchase a keyed in amount, that smaller popup window shows up on the far left of my left screen.
I can move the vendor screen/mail screen/whatever screen around but it does not retain that information when I close and reopen the NPC interface.
1. Talk to the airship captain, you get a dialog of possible destinations, including the Hall of Heroes.
2. Choose "I want the Farshifter to send me someplace", you get a second dialog with additional destinations.
Y'know, I thought I was imagining things when the captain forgot about HoH the other day! Glad to see I'm not lol (I usually go to the farshifter's chambers when I want to go to HoH, simply because it's closer unless I happen to be on the top deck anyway.) I just assumed that I was mistaken about having seen the HoH there in the past and went down to the farshifter's chambers lol
Does KA/Gladewatch still drop you off at the OLD location of KA, or did they finally fix that?
On a related note, the exit door at the end of Spies in the House dropping you off in the Harbor is rather annoying.
There are some quests I get don't have an exit because of flavor, like broken chains (you start in a jail cell)
That quest has the most unfriendly door in the game - doesn't just take you out of the quest without warning, it sends you all the way to Eveningstar (or used to, at least, I no longer try going through it anymore lol). It's actually probably very useful if you have DD, do that quest third, and need to go pick up Portal, but otherwise it's a real "What the frack!" swear-at-the-game moment. That needs some kind of confirmation dialogue... or just needs to be shut.
Can you add appropriate titles to EVERY minimum level shard?
Currently, I think the shards <30 that don't say anything at the end are bound shards. But, the ones for 30+ that don't say anything at the end are unbound. I always forget which is which and that's my fault I guess, but they should be easily identifiable if they're alone in a bag. I feel they should just all be labeled with "(bound)" or "(unbound)" as appropriate.
Thanks :)
Which reminds me of another specific small glitch - unlike every other cosmetic, the Captain of Bling cosmetic from the anniversary turnin is never visible when you log in - you have to turn off the helmet display then turn it back on again before it displays, every time.
I was reminded of something today but I don't know if its the sort of thing Lynnabel handles, that is many TOEE items have icon border color issues. I know for certain the named robes have a green border icon instead of the proper blue border icon of named items. Many of the permutations of TOEE greatclubs have an orange bordered icon which usually indicates named raid loot not craftable named quest loot.
Great catch. I've made sure they're all blue now.
The Deep Gnome iconic's 'phantasmal killer' SLA has SLA in the description instead of 'spell-like ability'. I find using player-made abbreviations inside actual game texts a bit...unprofessional? This would especially be a bit odd if you didn't know what SLA meant. I'm sure there's a few other SLA's in the game that have this.
Fixed! If you find any others please let me know.
I just picked up hellball and the feat does not match the description.
Feat on pick screen states its 50 SP and 10d6 for each element. The actual feat is 100 SP and 3d20+15 for each element. Now I have a useless feat, because at 50 i can spam it, but 100 is a waste.
Done!
I've got a fun one for you, Lynn :)
In many quests, it seems there are encounters where the game tries to play combat music, when it shouldn't. You know how in quests like What Goes Up, the music is static? There are certain encounters where the music is supposed to be static, but isn't, and as a result, all music stops when you engage in combat.
Here's a list I've put together in no particular order of quest pack/level:
Sinister Storage
Anywhere in the quest. (This is the quickest way to observe the bug for yourself)
Undermine
During the end fight with Kaboom the Demolitions Master.
Eyes of Stone
During the end fight with Hesstess the medusa.
In The Flesh
During the end fight.
Frame Work
Anywhere within the Matador Village. This doesn't happen outside of the Village, or in the Chieftain's room.
Lost in the Swamp
During the end fight with the Medusa, Sshaastess.
The Sane Asylum
During the end fight with Nurse Ratchet.
Missing
During the end fight with Mister Smythe.
All House Cannith Challenges, or at least most of them
Example: anywhere inside Dr. Rushmore's Mansion.
There very likely is more locations, but I'm having trouble remembering. Certainly not a game breaking bug by any stretch of the imagination, but for those of us who actually enjoy the music, it can be annoying.
I Don't know if this within your ever growing skill set. :)
Some spells/feats/abilities such as Prismatic Spray and Blade Barrier have the DC listed as a solid number (ie: "DC: 45") in addition to the formula (ie: " 20 + the highest of your INT/WIS/CHA modifiers + Evocation bonuses"). However, there are many spells and abilities that don't have a number listed even though they clearly (to me at least) should. A couple of examples are Burst of Glacial Wrath and Implosion. In addition, Sorcerer SLAs such as Fireball and Niac's Cold Ray do not have a DC shown in their description, but the trained spells do have the DC in their desciption. Not sure if this is something you can fix though and I'll have to do more research to see exactly what spells/SLAs don't have a listed DC in the description.
OK, I doubt this is within remit of Lynn's authority, but I suspect it's within her ever-growing skillset... so I guess don't ask don't get:
Lynnabel, can you change the automatic LFM so it only goes to +2 levels in range over the quest you're entering please?
Defaults should reflect the most common options that a player would select and in a BB world, +3 over quest level creates an XP penalty that a player who wants a group automatically set up for them is highly unlikely to select (not never but certainly not the majority of the time), and Reaper groups I would expect don't use the automatic LFM very often either.
Better yet, change the autoLFM to be =QL for Reaper quests, and QL+2 for normal/hard/elite
Here's one. May be beyond your skills but I'd like to see if this is even something SSG is aware of is a bug.
Sometimes when you complete the main quest, objectives completed after award 0 exp. This one where this is most obvious is Lesson in Deception where if you keep everyone alive, 80+% of the time you'll get 0 xp for it. I've also had this happen in wizard king where after completing the main quest I've gotten 0 xp for getting into the treasure room or even doing other towers.
Also I agree 100% with the people on this thread who say these small fixes ARE important! A lot of people I've invited to the game over the year have seen typos and things like "Kill 3" and splash screens for the wrong zone and gone "Is this a china game? It has that china-imported-to-usa engrish feel" and most have quit >_>
So yeah, I for one love the fact you're going through and fixing the minor things.
If I had a say, i'd say that DDO should have one staff member whose job title is "Fixing The Little Things" and their job is to handle stuff like this.
I agree. I've enticed a small number of friends into trying the game across the years. Several have mentioned String Table errors and other obvious mistakes such as typos and the like. These things are prominent and noticeable, they stand out and make what is otherwise a good product the subject of jokes and speculation about the amount of grade school levels the people who made those errors or types have achieved.
None of the people I've gotten to try the game have lasted much past Korthos. Like it or hate it (and it could use some improvements IMO), Korthos does a good job of guiding the players through the quests. Both by virtue of being a very small area with obviously connected NPCs and quests, and through the DM narration.
Once in Stormreach this starts to fall apart, as players start to be able to talk to NPCs who offer them quests beyond their level to accomplish, and so that quest will never again have the flashing yellow bar on their map leading them to the quest. And while they could abandon the quest to get that functionality back, at that stage in their play experience most are unaware of the Adventure Compendium and the ability to abandon a quest. And they are also unaware of a lot of other things that make their play time more fun and less frustrating. Not a single one of the people I have gotten to give DDO a try have stayed with it much past Korthos, and all of them have played one or more other MMOs across the years. And all of them have played D&D for years as well. So it wasn't the game type or genre that drove them away.
Simply selecting the quest in the adventure compendium brings that functionality back.
But I agree, that, and a few other interface items, could be covered better during the early levels. The tips that show up are, well, intrusive but not entirely helpful in some cases, and do miss some key items.
It's not big issues, but here's something I would like to be changed:
When a new player enters The Grotto, they meet with Cellimas who open the door by pointing it, the correct "opening door" animation should be better.
When Jeets faces the trap and the new player ask him to disable it, he does /point two times and then the trap is disabled. Why not giving him the correct "search" and "disable" animations so a new player can see how a trap is really disabled by a rogue.
This quest is supposed to teach the new players the basics of the game, why not showing them the right and real way from the start.
Melee Quarterstaff Trip Cleave Attack: +1/3/5[W] to all nearby enemies and trips them. (Listed DC: Balance DC 10 + Rogue Level + Dexterity Modifier Negates trip). Cooldown: 30/25/20 seconds.
In game the texts says STRENGTH for DC and looking at DC I think it is using STR and not DEX.
Please consider fixing and using DEX is used for DC! (and fixing text in tool tip)
Yes! that drives me up the wall, and it's just not simply a graphical problem because the result of this is that my Warlock is not recognized as 'eligible' for quests in level range. I don't think *that* many people are specifically excluding Warlocks..
this. people say I do not listen to voice chat in raids but this is untrue, they just are not loud enough to block out the lingering echo of that explosion sound that begins that animation. even if you click it away every time you still get an earful before it's gone ...
edit:
btw, not a bug to fix as such but since we had 1 day earlier restart cause zoning issues, little description of weirdness since I know in this thread it will be read.
yesterday (yes, after this weeks restart) I joined a pug for highroad and was about to enter wilderness last. upon clicking on the cart to go to explorer, instead of porting me inside the cart and its spiral gate, the kingsforest spiral gate on the right, and every single npc within sight "despawned" from my map. I just clicked enter and stuff wizzed out of existence. as the party was running to detour they killed two rares and I logged xp for that while still standing on the barren estar town map.
after waiting a minute I reloged the toon and that made me spawn into the explorer area upon relog. I then could loot a chest there the others had openend while i still was outside.
I checked my net icon several times and there was no noticable loss or lag. from what i can tell though the server had me ported into the wilderness and the npcs and access gates vanished accordingly, the map below my feet refused to transform.
first time I had this weirdness, maybe its of some value to have it shared ...
edit2: that was on argo, roughly 21hours ago ...
