East? West? Which way's that?

Do you know someone who's always getting their East's and West's mixed up? Or maybe even their left's and right's? Maybe you've tried sticking notes to the screen? Problem with those is they tend to fall off, or even get stuck up the wrong way round!

Well, if you or someone you know is getting all befuddled with this then take a look at the little UI tweak I've done:

I've added East and West indicators on the mini-map. There is another version that has left and right too, with some turn arrows so you know which way to rotate!

Installing is is just the same as a LOTR skin, only you go into the "Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder instead. More details are on the www.lotrointerface.com site in a handy FAQ that even has screenshots of what to do.

I shamefully am one of those that gets them confused occasionally. I love it when I'm guiding a Shadow Crypt run and I'm like "Ok, go west" and people watch me run east. And then follow me.. @_@

Hehe, I'm hoping its mostly East and West that gets mixed up. I think North and South tend to get confused less often, probably due to the strong link to up and down. Also it didn't want to to fit in nicely but I guess I could add another variant that spills over a little into the mini map area if people want it.

That helped me learn it, but I wasnt able to pass that on to the person that asks me which way's which the most often, hence the Ui tweak

Don't really have the problem... but can see the coolness in the "addon". All 4 compass points would be my suggestion though.. If one is getting confused with W/E or L/R... I am sure that they are just as confused with N/S or Up(Top)/Down(bottom)... ;p

Haha. Add GPRS and they'll never get lost. I agree though that left/right is easier to confuse.

actually as some one who is severely dyslexic i get my directions confused in real life on in game all the time

I can remember never Eat Shredded Wheat but i forget if its clockwise or anticlockwise

so thanks so the person that said because I'm 5 i don't forget from a 25 year old thanks a lot!

I've done this leading VoN's a couple of times.

It's not a matter of forgetting how to figure out where East and West are, it's when we have to make quick decisions where some of us get mixed up.

Haha, trying to figure out someone else's "left and right" is an even bigger chore for some reason

hmm, i've had a poke about, but i've not found the right bit yet. i have a horrible feeling that its not got its own image to tweak. its more just a set of bars and corners put together. ahh well, i'll have another poke about later
