Default What is up with Sannyasi?

Now that I think about it, what is up with Sannyasi the drow scorpion in Monastary of the Scorpion? For years, I have noticed that his A.I. is incredably buggy: Chasing players even while they're dead, moving erratically around the room, performing strange attacks; I just don't get it. Did the developers intentionally screw up his A.I. to fool us players or is he REALLY that bugged of a A.I.? I'm really confused.

I think it was changes they made a long time ago so stealthies wouldn't be able to handle it so easily.

I can still solo it on a stealth character, but when it was originally released it was so easy it was like "lolz xp", even on elite. Assuming you could spot the scorpions instead of bumping into them

As stated, the trip-wire (that is near the crest of the ramp) now used to automatically engage Sannyasi's aggro causes the funkiness. Before the change was made a couple years ago you could use a Move Silently/Hide of between 28-45 (difficulty depending) to remain undetected by Sannyasi.

... well, mixed in with the no-damage traps on elite, and the lack of detection barriers.

Heh, well, that explains some of the funkiness then. Perhaps it could have been done just a bit better though...oh well, no biggie, as long as someone gets the scorpions attention, and keeps him off the puzzle, the group should do fine.

Old bug (pre the whole 'DA/force-walls-if-detected').

Traps on elite would trigger, but not hit for damage (think it was just the floor blades, not the spinners or dropdown spikes).

I think it got fixed in .... Mod 9/EU, Update 0?

We just ran an elite Monastary last night. We get to the drop-down spot and my rogue/monk gets set to try to get over to the switch. Totally expecting to hear a ding as I hug the wall, I was surprised to make it over there without even taking any damage. I checked the combat log, and there was nothing between the <Holy Aura buff line> before my trek into the air vent and the <You were hit by Gelatinous cube's attack> lines in my combat log, so no checks were even rolled. All blade traps in the quest still hit hard.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about those changes. It sure isn't as easy these days.

Those are actually dodgeable, but most folks don't try. Maybe you got lucky or were blessed by the updateday lag gods

They are totally dodgeable, which is how I got the switch on my sorcerer on elite after the monk, paladin evasion tank, and ranger went ding when the quest was new-ish and elite traps did 4x the damage they should be doing
Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

You think that's bugged? Last life I was running the quest in a group and Sannyasi killed himself as we were waiting for the dancing ball to wear off and send kiter

We were literally waiting out of aggro range, and he just died.

After you pass the final blower puzzle and land in the hallway to the boss room, there's a point in the hallway where the boss triggers and runs out of his room towards you. He's stealthed as he does it, so its surprising and hard to tell exactly what caused it.

But he's definitely not aggroing by detecting players in the regular way, so it's presumed to be some script.

Sometimes, he runs across the puzzle and solves it himself (or the optional named).

I had that happen as well.
Oh, that's easy. I didn't farm them. I just cheated. -Meghan

That's what we thought, but the corpse was clearly not on the puzzle when we ran over there, and the optionnal wasn't there either. Was at the spawn point in front of the chest, not near the tiles.

    Default Sannyasi

I have a character that reaches 90+ buffed AC. Sannyasi doesn't appear to make a to-hit/AC check on his tail attack most noticeably. Is this one of those odd monsters that just doesn't need to make AC/ToHit checks and is WAI? Or is this just an oversight still in need of correction that has been tossed in the "To Do, But Later" pile?
I have not yet begun, to defile myself.
