    Default Shiradi Shuriken Build

Recently I've began to have a fascination for throwing builds, so I put together a build I thought would look nice, and am looking for feedback from more experienced players. Rolling it on Lamannia later today, but thought I'd put it out here first. Thanks for all feedback, and I am ready/willing to answer all questions about the build.

Also, looking for ideas about gear. Is TF the best way to go for shuriken, or are ES challenge-shurikens better?

(Note: This is currently for a 32 pt build).

Im not exactly sure what your goals are for your build. Full self healing? Max dps? Defensive?
    Your build:

Dex is your main source of damage and gives the chance to proc multiple shruiken per attack so always first priority is to max out dex. This means: All level ups in dex and 20 as a base. Wisdom is secondary and only affects 10k stars. I would drop con to 14 and max dex to 20.

Combat archery as well as any feat/enhancement that gives you [w] for a shuriken is a trap. The base of all shurikens in 1d2, meaning a 1[w] from combat archery is an extra 1.5 damage per shuriken. Which is low. However, if you do stick to this build, you have a lot of feats so it might be the only thing you can take.

Weapons: T3 TF w/mortal fear is your best option for weapons. However, if you dont have the mats for T3 TF then your next best thing is the spelltouched from ES challenges.

Check this build as a reference for throwers. The build is little out of date but is still viable.

Thanks for all the feedback, goal was to be survivable, with decent DPS. Maxed wisdom for 10k stars, with dexterity as a 2nd. Was not sure if shuriken dmg was directly dex based. Will make changes accordingly.

Got to go with mousepointer here--since EVERY point of dex gives a chance to throw an extra shuriken for both shuriken expertise AND the monk core, one cannot emphasize enough to max out DEX. The Meteor shower build used the old +6 from Rogue shadow double to get it very high but that option has been reduced to +3 (still pretty good!). Wisdom is secondary for 10K and also very important so you are correct there! Good to take Tenser's since the permanent full BAB helps with attack speed (very noticeable on throwing weapons) and also adds 4 Dex.

You don't need to make a mortal fear shuriken unless you want to sit at cap forever--tier 2 is fine. The other option is a life-stealing shuriken from the challenges for use on trash. Use Celestia in the offhand if you have it; if not, you can use an erosive lootgen (it will proc greater stone prison on the mainhand, though mobs will 95% of the time make the save) or a Star of Day that has the fiery detonation. There are also lootgen weapons with the Frozen attribute (not sure if that is the name) that gives freezing ice (also only good for when they roll a 1 on their saves...). For trash, you can also make sure to equip tendon slice, either in the offhand or on gear (like the Dun Robar rings!).

Make sure to take the halfling thrower crit bonus also!

12 Monk gets abundant step and master of forms; just something to consider.
Wiki dashboard with some useful stealthplay links. LONG LIVE STEALTH!
Proud Knight of the Silver Legion, Cannith: Saekee (main) and some others typically parked at some level.
Decreased playtime since update 55 (Summer 2022) as I will not play the level cap increase

Shuriken is dex to damage from monk ninja spy tree. I run 12rog/6mnk/2pally thrower right now that is very well rounded. I mainly use cocoon for self healing and heal scrolls if im in a bind. Saves are all no fail (with reflex in the 90s). I miss out on perma tensers but you can work around that. Perma tensers is most useful for getting max attack speed with thrown weapons but is not the only way. I have full attack speed w/o tensers. I decided 31 points in EK was not worth 4 dex and con. I can post my build if you are interested.

Yes, please. I'm looking for a trapper/thrower, as I have a bunch of great shuriken from a past Shuricannon life.

Being a monk-based thrower you probably want the epic TOEE set. The bonus gives you +20 melee power, ranged power and spell power along with the bonuses of the respective items (25% concealment from lesser displacement and +12 resistance on the robe and Riposte XII on a caster weapon for example). In that case you would wear the shortsword/kama as your offhand weapon and fill the slot with a devotion augment making it a Spellcasting Implement.

I also would consider Legendary Dreadnaught, Divine Crusader and Fury of the Wild as Epic Destinies aside from Shiradi.

20 dex - all level ups here
    14 con

    Feats:
    PBS
    Monk: Precision
    Monk: Deflect arrows
    Monk: 10k stars
    Precise shot
    Rapid shot
    Monk: Shuriken expertise
    Imrov crit blud (heriocs)/thrown (epics)

If you want more like gear, saves, etc. Ill just make a separate post about it.

That, and which level to take which class would be great.

Level order is by choice. I would take 3 rogue as quick as you can for staff dex to damage and you dont need 5 rogue until level 12 for teir 5 staff tree. Take 3 monk early for light monk path activated ability. I did RRRMMMRPPRRRRRRRMMMR.

As an alternative i can recommend a 15 Paladin/3 Monk/2 Rogue Shadar-Kai that i'm running right now as an intermediate build to get my Pally and Shadar-Kai Past Lifes.

Offensive benefits: Light Damage on Shuriken, +20% Holy Sword Crit range, Know the Angles, +30% Damage Action Boost, Sting of the Ninja, Tier 5 Harper Tree damage, Mechanic Tree damage

Defensive benefits: Defensive Stance with PRR, MRR and saves bonus, Pally CHA saves, fully quickened Cure Serious Wounds with Empower Healing spellpower boost, Lay on Hands, full trapper skills and UMD

and you start at level 15.

As i said this build is only to get my Shadar-Kai and Paladin pastlifes. Basically my goal was to keep the Rogue level of Shadar-Kai and use it for trapskills for +30% XP and take at least 14 levels of Paladin to get the +2 crit range from Holy Sword (multiplier is broken with throwers). 3 Monk Levels are mandatory for a Shuriken build which leaves 2 levels to play with. One went into another rogue level for more skills and tier 2 mechanic and the last into Paladin since i wanted the better selfhealing of CSW.

also Divine Favor gives extra damage to shuriken attacks.

The starting Stats are assuming you have a +4 WIS tome to gain 14 WIS to be able to cast lvl 4 paladin spells (Holy Sword, Cure Serious Wounds), otherwise change the stats accordingly.
If you prefer more damage over great self-healing you can exchange Empower Healing and Quicken to get Tier 3 monk stances (otherwise you only have Tier 1 for +2 DEX)

One went into another rogue level for more skills and tier 2 mechanic and the last into Paladin since i wanted the better selfhealing of CSW.

also Divine Favor gives extra damage to shuriken attacks.
No 10k and no stance feats; I assume you run this in Heavy Armor?

OP, you left 10k out of your feat list. Also you mean IC: thrown, not IC: ranged

My opinion: dump wis and max doubleshot. 10kstars is OKAY but on a build that is doing 3-4 attacks around anyway, it's more viable to put your points into dex. 10K borks your doubleshot chance, and it's one more clicky to worry about. No 10k also means not having to twist contemplation as you won't use ki so much. master ocean is enough to keep up shadow veil usually. If you go Tensors, and 6 enh points to dex, 7 level ups, that's 17 points of dex right there. You should easily be able to get your dex into the 70s which is good for a tosser.

Instead of wisdom, go int secondary for skills and know the angles. It's a cheap way to get some more cheap dps. Your build is gonna have lots of sneak attack so consider twisting sense weakness and pin, or echos shadow dancer and cocoon instead of dance of flowers and echoes avatar.

Consider rogue instead of fighter. less feats yes but Assassin can get you killer, 20% doubleshot. envenomed blades. 1d8 poison damage that works with sting of the ninja and scales with melee power like your sneak attack. You can get tons of sneak dice from rog levels + assassin + halfling + ninja. start stacking deception and improved deception and watch the hp melt away.

Of course you don't have enough AP for all of this, but these are just some suggestions. shot on the run seems like a lot of investment for a few points of ranged power. Remember, with sneak attack melee power bumps SA, even on ranged attacks.

I like 3-6 monk, 6 ranger (sniper shot, heavy draw, killer, leg shot, 4 sneak dice) and the rest rogue in dreadnaught or shadowdancer for a high dps thrower.

Like someone else said, all those points in EK just for 4 dex and full bab is kind of weak. You take whirling wrists, wind stance, and haste boost and you're good on throwing speed. scroll tensers for boss fights if you have to, but you probably will realize you don't need it.

    Best of luck.

Nope no heavy armor. If you are uncentered then things like DEX to damage on shuriken, Sting of the Ninja and the Basic Wind Stance with +2 DEX do not work anymore - which does not mean you could not make changes to wear it. But if you already go for high DEX for extra shuriken procs you also want DEX to damage and use your high reflex saves for Evasion (especially when disabling traps). Defenses are good enough. Being a build for past lifes i use the gear that i have available from my shuricannon and that includes many valuable robes for various levels (upgraded TOEE robe for the set bonus for example). Feel free to adjust the build for heavy armor if you like but you will loose quite some DPS.

This build is no Shuricannon 2.0. It gets hit much more often but compensates with better mitigation (Defender Stance+bonuses), slightly better saves and stronger selfhealing (Empowered, Quickened CSW plus LOH). It has fewer attacks but the hits have more punch during earlier levels (Divine Favor, +30 Ranged Power Action Boost, extra Light damage scaling with ranged power, Tier 5 Harper Tree, Mechanic). It is not as powerful as my Shuricannon which is why i did not post it in a separate thread but it does its job of giving Paladin and Shadar-Kai pastlifes as a thrower while having trapskills for XP and heroic self-healing pretty well.

Av, me thinks you actually took Rapid Shot as Rapid Reload doesn't affect thrown weapons (unless I'm missing something).

I'm also curious, what's your sustainable Wis with 10K stars?

    Thx,
    Rock
