Thumbs down The Cogs Wilderness Area Impression

It's another over-sized, underpopulated wilderness area that relies on the terrible journal gimmick instead of proper explorer discovery. Pretty disappointing. Hopefully the quests are much better.

Solo or party? I ran through the Cogs on Lam both solo and with one party member. Not enough of a sample size to determine if it will make for a quality xp farm to 7500.

trying it on heroic right now, and the one thing i find a bit odd is that mobs don't respawn. I mean it's huge, if stuff respawned you could easily hack your way through for hours. Aside from that I like the mix of mobs. but yeh, I like remembering landscape and areas a lot better than remembering behind what specific rock a journal is hidden. Think the last explorer area they did that way was Underdark... I guess the reason is that in the scrolls you can just convey more story line information to the player, but let's be honest, who actually reads them? if you find one you click it, are happy about the XP, close it and move on.

First time through in an explorer area I read everything.
Or listen to the narration if the area has one.

    I do.

I love the voice-acting and the narration in many of the Explorer areas. Top-notch. I can't imagine NOT listening to them. That would be like playing a single-player game and skipping all the cut-scenes.

I mean, maybe after you've played the area or a game a few times, but the first time through? Just skip all the cut-scenes? Skip all the narration?

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.
