    Default U49 Preview 2: 4/06-4/08

    Disclaimer
Everything seen on the preview server, Lamannia, is not final and is subject to change or removal before live release.

Hello, all! Preview 2 of Update 49 is open! It is expected to remain open until sometime in the afternoon (Eastern) of Thursday April 8th.

There will be a dev event on Wednesday April 7th from 8-10 PM Eastern where members of the DDO team will be available to collect feedback and answer questions in real time on Lamannia.

This preview contains the following features:

In addition to those primary features it also contains the following miscellaneous changes and bugfixes:

    Character
    • Shifter Howl abilities now trigger their effect at the appropriate point in the animation (slightly earlier than before)
    • Shifter Howl abilities can now be cancelled into melee attacks or other skills at the 1.75sec mark (instead of needing to wait the entire 2.0sec, as before)
    • Shifter Augment Summoning now works.
    • Maestro of Life and Death now provides its listed spell crit chance
    • Bard's Hold Monster, Mass now uses the correct spell components
    • Word of Balance's tooltip has been corrected
    • Fatesinger's Greater Shout has had its tooltip corrected
    • Cleric SLAs and actives can now be used while moving
    • Chaos Hammer, Unholy Blight, and Order's Wrath now do their correct damage vs all alignments
    • Vistani Knife Fighter: Rapid Strike and Rapid Throw now have their Doublestrike bonus properly typed as Morale.
    • Uncanny dodge feats no longer causes a pause in auto attack
    • Offhand Versatility: Now Functions with Orbs.
    • Celestial Tutelage in aasimar now works to pre-req for Feydark Illusionist

    Items
    • Jeets now offers you a Longbow as a weapon choice before the Grotto.
    • Cellimas now offers you a Longbow as a weapon choice after completing the Grotto.
    • Glamered versions of Titania's Crown now show butterflies.
    • Insightful and quality Resistance Items now provide the correct amount of bonuses
    • Eversight now functions as intended
    • The Changestone's raid rune turn-in now mentions that it is randomly rolled
    • Shieldbreaker now provides its Sunder bonuses
    • Feytwisted Raid Items are now purchaseable with Raid Runes
    • The named loot from the Lordsmarch Plaza quests (Eyes of Stone, Assault on Summerfield, etc.) has been slightly updated to match modern scaling effects standards. They have not been redesigned but have instead had effects that were basic static stat boosts moved over to modern scaling effects on the Cannith Crafting iLevel standard. This only applies to newly created copies of these items. LAMANNIA ONLY: They are available to preview via The Loot Guy located in the center of the Test Dojo.

    Quests
    • A stuck spot in Blown Deadline has been fixed.
    • You can now break the root walls in Combatting Corruption with ranged attacks

    Miscellaneous
    • Tiefling's (both Male and Female) should now more consistently play the sound of their footfalls and display bloody footprints when that is toggled on.
    • Unconsciousness Range bonuses now appear in the + stats tab
    • Mounts should no longer be summonable in quests (they weren't before, this just adds a nice little error message when you try to do it)
    • Appearance fixes have been made to some NPC's who had recently stopped displaying correctly (Most notably some of the Masterminds of Sharn villains.)

Ya know, it’d be awfully nice if you’d have your previews over the weekend, then have your dev event on the following Monday. It would allow more people to actually preview the update to offer feedback...unless you folks aren’t really into that sort of thing.

I wanna echo that, with emphasis.

I know you got your dates set, and it's very clear what window you're opening it. Considering how many players are interested, and how many bow players there are.. I'd really urge a window that spans a conventional weekend, at least. Opening Thursday April 8th, and Closing Tuesday April 13th would suit me personally a lot more, and I'd be surprised if I'm in a minority there.

Yup, they're cutting everyone's attack speed by half and removing all the mobs except bosses!

Kidding by the way (I hope)!

yes let's hope they are real fixes, better late than never, instead of some patches here and there, or the players instead of saying "thank you" this time will say "thank me for having stayed so long and now beg me to keep on playing". sort of.

We'll be able to go into far more detail once the changes have been posted and you'll be able to get in and test things out, but for right now all I'll say is that the part of the OP where we specifically call out raid groups to come kick the proverbial tires, we really mean it. We want to be sure we're moving things in the right direction, and the more eyes we get on this before release the better.

Plus, there's a bit of a loot-based surprise for this update that I'm pretty proud of getting done before the deadline.

Does adding more squirrels count as increasing game performance?

If so, I am super excited!

Edit: On a more serious note, any chance of fixing the graphical and audio settings so that the game remembers what your preferred settings are? I find it rather annoying to have to go into the settings before playing and setting it up again.

High end characters and Raid game performance, and as a dominoe effect general game performance, is expected to be smoother with these changes so as much real player load available to try it out will be good.)

Is it really still nopt posible to fix the missing +5% attack speed on vistany knife fighter blade master ? It still after so long time now dont give the +5% attack speed to daggers. And its really missing to make the cap stone worth while and sould be a very easy fix...
Please this time make it work again

    Here for hopeing..

You went and integrated the whole fusible stuff with the old Droaam loot with the keyword. I'd bet me Feather Falling boots of Feather Fall on it.

but in order to get a more accurate sense of these game performance boosts as they would affect the live servers, would it not be better to mirror an actual game server over to lammania (transferring all the inventory/cache load from all characters) to determine if they would actually make a difference? if you are testing these boosts on lammania, where I feel in general there is very little lag, how are you going to get a baseline for comparison?

it will be difficult to assess how these boosts are working if we are comparing against a relatively lag-free lammania server.

but just to be sure, these changes are meant to target specifically with raid groups and high end characters? not the kind of lag that we have been seeing moving around in public instances like the harbor and marketplace or in wildernesses?

how exciting!! we always appreciate these surprises that you put into the loot. I am looking forward to it. I really appreciated the feytwisted and greater feytwisted, as well as the dull dagger mystery.

I really looking forward to this surprise!

And just to mention it I love the new mount stable so much! and everyone I ask for it really likes it too, I just wonder why no one on the forum gives positive feedback for it lol.
But even if I'm very happy with it it can be better
I just wish we had in the mount UI a check box where we can tell the game that we want to enter any public area on the mount so we don't have to click it every time we leave a quest.
The same basically for slayer areas, this would also be a quality of life improvement which should have no impact on game balance.
Another point is that you should be able to cast buffs on your mount, I think the mount buff could have basically the same restrictions as the invisible buff (maybe no cure and heal spells). Casting spells even if it is only buffs is ofc something with game balance impact but I think it is very low and tolerable.

Another point is of course a UI for cosmetics, this would be an even bigger improvement to DDO than the mount stable but I understand this is a lot more work.

As a suggestion, if you want to have a good amount of folks running the raid through it's paces, I would extend the preview through the weekend. Some folks have play and work schedules that do not allow a lot of mid week gaming. I know it doesn't jive with SSG's work schedule, but if you really want that data, I would extend it. Just my $.02
