Stygian Orb swap is *really* nice for the extra critical chance and TMP SP bump. I hate HATE swapping, but L/DA swaps make such a huge difference and are usually out-of-combat, so I did them religiously.
This was back when DA had sound FX and ticked even when full HP. So, it was easier to...
Ninja SS should be 15x3 (19x2 with 2 i.crit 2 T5 range and 1+CM multiplier). It's a rather "default" profile.
But 15x3 or even 14x3 is not competitive with 15x4 (DPS+18%) or 16x5 (DPS+30%) via DL. IMHO, the biggest issue for making a MELEE Ninja competitive is Shadow Double. You don't need...
I'd qualify that based on target skulls. For R8~10 at cap? Yeah, I'd want a healer, but I'll ask to make sure and not assume that a cleric icon means you're a healer -- could be anything hiding under that and the most likely role isn't healer.
For leveling? Just get there and try to be...
Casters definitely need help, but IMHO the problem is not SSG or DDO, it's D&D.
D&D casters are horibad for MMOs. They expect and need a DM to interpret and balance things on the fly; eg. a trap opens under you and you start sliding down a chute, what do you do!? Wizard: I cast web and glue...
The one healer I LOVED playing was my scholar in FFXIV and that's because it did it's job proactively via TMP HP and also passively via automatic HOTs. So, IF the group was solid, I'd spend most of the time DPS'ing and only had to hit a heal button to save a blundering newbie that couldn't...
It's up to you how you run your groups. The only time I'm expecting folk to sit, though, would be for R8~10 when key roles are yet to be filled. I do R1 heroic R4 epic for leveling. For those, I'll put up an LFM and start right in. If a joiner is absolutely racing to join the quest, I'll...
Once they have things sufficiently stabilized (ie. ALL characters can transfer successfully, no one left behind), they should simply open free transfers for 2~3 months to let the populations find what best suits the players.
If one or more servers are left with low populations, THEN take steps...
Uh, yay? SSG stopped beating on customers with lag. They're so cool.
Yeah, I'm glad they FINALLY managed to do what every other game does as a matter of course without hardly trying, but it should never have happened in the first place and particularly not for a cost-saving experiment with...
We all have different tolerances for immersion. DEX for bows is one of mine. It's pure idiocy. If you've ever shot a non-compound bow with a heavy draw, you know STR is the gating factor in accuracy, not DEX. Not only that, but moving while shooting is a guaranteed miss. All the jumpy...
This is why Tempest will remain unused. Every build is buffed and Tempest is about 17% down on DPS from profile alone even including the extra OH bonus (it's is fairly inconsequential).
At a minimum Tempest needs something pretty big; OH DS = 100% MH DS is about DPS+9% and it's thematic. It's...
DDO is the only game I know of that requires off-line inventory notes.
Some other games benefit if you have many chars, but the ones I know (like FFXIV) have stated that 3rd party tools are OK. SSG hasn't come out and stated "yeah, Dungeon Helper is fine, go for it".
Have y'all forgotten Razorclaw Shifter? That's what you're describing right there.
Some special dwarf-tossing abilities ala 5e tavern-brawler would be fun, but with RC in game now I can't see another Barbarian update Iconic or update in a very VERY long time.
Other ranged still outperform shuri by a fair bit. They're nowhere near as bad as a melee NiS, though.
NiS problems were exhaustively enumerated in the Lam thread well BEFORE it went live. IMHO, they started out jazzed to fix shuriken right up until the point they decided it would take too...
Mage-hand with lots of various hand-shennanigans would be fun; not just traps, but levers and boxes and even holding, tripping, pushing, etc..
'Course, if they did add at-a-distance trap disarm, they'd forget to add at-a-distance trap detection.
IMHO, that's the crux caster balance right there. It's not just "needs more DPS", it's the entire system where a caster's DPS gets cut in half on a failed DC, eliminated on evasion, negated by immunity, or simply is not applicable to the situation. Magic in DDO has no dial. It's ON or OFF.
