I (a "whale") am out until 100SLOTS is added to the shop

seems like we mostly agree that DDO hasn't gone the way that we'd have liked during 2025...even if we mostly understand why. I'm surprised they never rolled out a true thank you gift for surviving the server farm migration, or an apology gift b/c mgmt made the loot tables extra grindy. The...

Why are more gamers than ever playing the 2000s classic RuneScape?

I have no interest in playing RunesScape. I do think this article does a brilliant job of demonstrating how a game can become over monetized and pulling back on blunt money grabs and focusing on FUN creates a real avenue to make more money for SSG. SSG likes money right?!? Come take our...

Why are more gamers than ever playing the 2000s classic RuneScape?

Great article in the BBC newspaper talking about how Runescape ditched the gottcha gaming, went hard into QOL fixes and is having a huge uptick in users for a very old game....someone get this article into DDO mgmt hands please?!?! Search: "Why are more gamers than ever playing the 2000s...

What are peoples' thoughts on the monetization in this game?

I agree with the sentiment, but not sure on the analogy. Water in gas might ruin your engine, water in whiskey will probably get you into party mode faster b/c you don't feel the bite of whiskey...and I get it's a sin to water down good whiskey, but nearly every tasting I've been to they add...

What are peoples' thoughts on the monetization in this game?

Ying, I usually get your posts, but your comparison is mostly about value per fiscal dollar spent...where as my position is value per time spent... which means, i personally value time on earth more than dollars in the bank...ymmv. I want more fun from the game and less grief & grind.

What are peoples' thoughts on the monetization in this game?

The fiscal cost to play is rough, but I'd pay more to avoid the time costs like flagging and rare loot (b/c it's boring) The cost to play is to high for the fun delivered...ymmv.

Lag made me take a break, now what?

100! Yeah some how rare loot killed farming for some folks and I don't think anyone predicted that over farming would lead to folks leaving our community in despair.

Lag made me take a break, now what?

Slightly different reasons, but my take on the game is similar to original poster...I'm a former whale that left b/c the game became less fun. I'm playing the Oblivion remaster now. It's less of a fight for the devs and more about the way their pay is structured. They get paid for content...

    Captain Obvious Here

the original post seems similar to other threads out now talking about how devs don't connect with enough of the player base & a poll could give them a better chance of getting the homerun...or at least allow us to feel like it's our game. from recent post folks are less than excited about: the...

What the ENAD Global 7 Q3 report said about DDO

HOLD UP...I pulled up the full report and it looks like @Sarlona Raiding may have added some debatable context here by appending (financials) Here's the full quote from page 7: "The lawsuit remains active and Daybreak will continue its legal efforts in this regard. Dungeons & Dragons Online...

    New raid

small amount of schadenfroh here. someone might think that with the rare loot mechanisms bringing in so much money in rerolls & with expansion sales, that it'd be easy to fund solid raid design...but maybe squeezing the whales has a limit. I thought once lag was fixed, that they'd update loot...

Lag is gone? Can we get loot fixed?

Lag is never really gone, but it's better...or so say the forumites...still, if that message gets out and more folks return, then lag may return...an honest conundrum. Still, if lag is okish...can we please get back to loot? The latest expansion tables are very long and it takes an unreasonable...

I don't understand the nerfing paradigm

So...DDO has the hamster wheel concept, that is designed to keep players doing stuff, changing builds, past lives, new gear...etc. ;) Nerfs are just one of the rungs on the hamster wheel....something new comes out, folks flock to try the new thing, then something newer comes out and the flock...

    Lamordia Fortification - Seriously?

fortifcation went up, DC went up, hit points went up....the hamster wheel turns, you can now get better gear in Lamordia if you're willing to spend money on the expansion AND THEN spend lots of shards/time...it's just how the wheel turns. this thread provokes a interesting thought, that devs...

Forbidden Temple: Curse of the Assassin's Blade (No pause or warning, insta-killed)

with all the code hacking for lag optimization, it's highly likely mechanizims like this aren't functioning optimally. and like other said most people skip it, so it's probably not well known...I like the Spectral Blades, ramps it up to R11. buyer beware

    Two months into Lagapalooza 2025

any a-palooza should come with fun events. can we get more of the bridge style protests (dance party) with fun guild/character names? or maybe we do some kinda letter writing campaign? I mean, i know folk at SSG are trying & our protest won't accelerate anything, it's more of a way to give us...

    Lag experience not typical?

to the OP....yeah, this is not normal, but it is becoming typical. the developers have tried killing everything that generates workload on the game processing engine in order to get over-population lag under control. they've reduced graphics, lobotomized monster/hireling ai, broken stealth, &...

    Do Lamordia LFMs exist?

I find myself agreeing with Marshall....this expansion seems to be most skipped expansion ever. Who could have possible predicted that predatory loot, crippling lag, and lobotomized monster AI would hurt sales?

    The writing on the wall.

RayRay, lag can happen anytime...it is worse when there are more people on. Maybe "fine" was not a good description, maybe it should have read, "The game usually works ok off-peak hours"
