A live service game should only have the upfront cost of buying into it right now plus future content. I don't think the price point has anything to do with the content relevance. Having to spend full price on everything that has ever been added is probably the main deterrent to new players...

Newer races have higher quality assets. The original races still have the same face textures you're thinking of. Aasimar are much higher quality models and textures than Humans, for instance.

Unless they intend to give us the option at creation to be from a specific setting, I think all the deities should be available regardless of race choice. Plus there's still a ton of deities missing (particularly ones that *are* race/setting/class relevant, but also to cover more favored weapons.)

Maybe they will eventually, but I suspect part of the reason they aren't just going to do a backend database transfer is that they want all the characters/accounts that aren't active to be left behind.
