2024 Year of the...

With only 3 months of the year, several events at DDO leave something to be desired and make me question if SSG really makes an effort to invest time/resources in this business.

18th Anniversary. The same boring quest, without new items, there is not much more to say.

The problem of the fps drop, something as basic as not being able to play the game for more than 20 minutes straight without having to refresh the client and although the problem in itself was horrible, the support and solution were even worse. There was no official statement and more than a week to solve such a relevant problem.

Here come the gifts:
  • Dragon Lord, half of the Ravager tree enhancements bugged. 2 weeks to fix this.
  • Slice of Life, interesting quest and loot, unfortunately 3/3 bugged.
Probably 48 +/- hours with servers down, although these are things unrelated to SSG **** happens and even worse on holidays.

My concern is that this is the second time in a month that an outage has occurred (and both timed perfectly for weekends no less)! While this irritates the user base, there is a bigger issue than this which is that it affects SSG's bottom line. I really hope they get their (infrastructure) ducks in a row because their consistency is inconsistent and that really is fiscally irresponsible for them!

I'm not so mad about this downtime. But I do understand your anger with the other issues and largely agree. Maybe it's because of easter or maybe I'm beyond disappointment with SSG now, I'm just having a hard time being mad about this downtime.

This is likely the same reason we aren't getting a hardcore this year. Between the X-Pac, level increase, and Year of the Dragon stuff... they don't have time for it. Hence why the YotD stuff was kind of lumped in with the anniversary, starting on the anniversary. YotD starting basically WAS your new anniversary thing.

Yea, I think we can all agree that we wish SSG was more communicative about stuff. There's been many many comments in the past couple months talking about their communication, specifically with this, some nerfs they did, and of course this current downtime.

Honestly, not surprised. I feel like this whole thing is a bit ambitious for the small studio they have going on. We routinely get lots of bugs in just normal releases.

I feel like you just brought this up for the extra "umpf". This is unrelated, and I highly doubt any of them foreseen this happening.

They have spent more time Nerfing stuff than they have fixing problems it seems, and compensation or communication seem to be lacking. Happy offline Easter to all.

Not mad. Disappointed and concerned yes. I"m sympathetic to their issues, but I am a cynic at heart and my standard operating procedure is to "hope for the best, but be prepared for the worse". I just hope that none of this is self-inflicted due to a lack of hind-sight or not being proactive on their part. Sometimes ? just happens!

I keep hearing people say the three new quests are bugged, but no one says how.I've ransacked all 3 quests with no issue so far. Is there something that bugs them out?

This downtime stuff does NOT happen with other games. Like maybe once in a lifetime of a game will the game just go down for days because of some unfortunate series of events. But it keeps happening to SSG. Somewhere along the line this is directly their fault whether through their own ineptitude or through not putting enough resources where they need to be so they get the ineptitude of others. This is not normal. People need to stop apologizing for SSG when their game goes down for days. Letting them continue to get away with it only encourages more of the same.

This game's budget is basically 3 shoestrings and half a ham sandwhich.

The fact it's still up and running and developed for is amazing.

The lag is entirely because of crappy hand-me-down servers run out of some dude's New Jersey "crash pad" off an ancient Dell Celeron Tower which is behind a giant stack of 90's porn mags, a half empty bottle of mountain dew, some clear liquid which I do not care to identify and a box of kleenex.

Servers will be up Monday afternoon 2 to 5 PM EST.

Noone is at the offices or doing anything right now. Noone is working and frankly that's a good thing.
