I thought 30 chars was wild until I considered that the shared bank doesn't transfer. So you'll need to put everything from your shared bank onto a character to xfer.

Testing is fair, I suspect you are among the more invested players in that regard. And I guess I could have used a bank alt to hold my xp stones, but I usually do a TR every week or two so its not like I can keep hundreds of them!
Well OK, but how much of that stuff do you need? Every mule is 100 inventory and 60 bank slots, right? That's nearly 5000 items

Yeah, I'm probably an outlier in that regard. Some of things I've found, tested, and bug reported over the years are pretty wild.
That I had not considered. I still think I can fit all my shared in a couple of toons though

I keep a number of characters at certain levels so I can always join in when a friend has the time and wants to play. I also made a bunch of different endgame builds back when 20 was cap. I sometimes return to fix up an old character that has been buried by modern updates, which then inevitably gets buried again by new modern updates.
for stuff. I also use it to test out a build and silly things

I moved a bunch of alts that were leveled to near cap, due to the Wayfinder data crash. Moved them across and they took up as positions as captains of the fleet.
Got mules for items on differents level range, useful if i want to try something new or to storage items from tedious quests, from time to time i clean where is +28 and useless when new packs comes out. But atm i'm happy with 3 mules + 2,5 real toons (1 is in progress, not capped). Also take a lot of inventory space on xp stones, and augment

All of it. I'd never done the math but I guess that means I need 5,000 extra shared bank slots instead of the 3,000 I thought would be enough.
In fairness, not all of the mules are full. Also, I will admit, a few bags are full of "collections" of now obsolete gear I know I won't actually use, but that's maybe 40 slots max. And there's maybe another 2-3 bags of "just in case" loot. All tolled I might be able to get rid of... 1 mule if I did that kind of spring cleaning.
