A list of guaranteed or particularly low time investment items to grab while levelling to make your life easier.

This sort of list is subjective, so i'm trying to be strict about not requiring RNG drops/rewards for people as grind-averse as myself. In the interest of bloat i'm not including favour or saga rewards because they'd be worth entire posts themselves.

I'm sure there'll be useful suggestions down below that don't quite fit my list but are still *well* worth the time, if you're less lazy than me :)

This is a list of items which are 100% guaranteed the first time you do stuff which can gear up a new person/fresh server character/throwaway alt.

Korthos:
The static rewards will serve most characters well for quite some levels.

Harbour:
A quick run around the starting harbour quest givers gains the three collectable bags, and a quick dip into the twelve gets a bigger and bound to account ingredients bag. (you can buy other medium bags very cheaply in house phiarlan)

Necropolis (levels 5/8/11):
Silver Flame trinket at the altar in each tier of quests - death ward and negative energy absorb
Emerald claw nugget at the same altar for a +social skills swap
Ghostbane bow from the first tier of scarabs
Ghost Touch bow from the third tier of scarabs
Other scarab rewards are anti-undead themes but largely obsolete when you can get them.

Delera's Tomb (levels 5-8/27:
Voice of the Master as an end reward for faster levelling.
This breaks the normal reward rules too, because you can get the epic version from the heroic reward list then use it the moment you hit level 20 and it's even bound to account. The epic version is very flexible until 'real' artifacts at Legendary.

The Ruins of Threnal (levels 8-10):
Mantle of the Worldshaper for alternate xp bonus and for spell absorb.

Wheloon (level 15-17/26-27) and storm horns (level 15-19/25-27):
An almost full gearset of core stats which are not optimal but definitely help ease into the next tiers of content.

Relic of a Sovereign Past (level 12):
A ML 10, 100% fortitude neck before they drop randomly
OR a nice selection of weapons

Ravenloft (level 10/29):
A free weapon which may or not be better than the Sovereign Past ones for your build.
Sentient Gem at 29
Borderlands (level 1/21):
Excellent starter weapons that only need a single token to get, virtually guaranteed long before you finish the pack. Choice of ghost touch, silver weapons and caster sticks.

This is a secondary list of items that need a little more work, but are still guaranteed and may be worth the time if not doing a no-repeat challenge.

Saltmarsh (level 3/32):
Alternate weapons vs monstrous humanoids: 5 Quartermaster Chits from the pack. I have never gotten 5 chits in a single (levelling) life but if you do, consider if a trade-in is useful.

Feywild (Level 5/32):
Ferrosteel weapons for a damage bypass and damage vs enemies in the pack, caster sticks (including for DC casters this time) - need quite a few of the Crystal Chunks but you should get them in a run through especially because they drop from wilderness rare chests as well as quest ones.

Myth Drannor: (Level 13/34):
"<weapon type> of the Fallen Age" weapons from chests and end rewards have a direct 2-1 swap so don't trash the 'wrong' ones of these.
The rare wilderness encounter chests do have a lot of superb blues with normal drop rates and are worth detouring for - Complaints about them being legendarily stingy come from people who want things from a rare sub-table.

Vecna Unleashed (level 18/34):
"Shining Reliquary <weapon type>" weapons from chests and end rewards are notable for letting you trade 2-1 (with some quest pack tokens) for a preferred type so don't throw the 'wrong' ones away either.

Red Fens (level 9/21):
2-piece sets with guaranteed appearances on third clear (even a quick casual dash) - these are *extremely* powerful. I am especially fond of the Mire set for striding/featherfall/water breathing/pierce resist, but there are sets for most builds.

Threnal again (Levels 8-10):
Ratcatcher - You probably took the guaranteed Mantle of the Worldshaper the first time but if you enjoyed Threnal and want the Best-in-slot-for-ages crossbow it's guaranteed the third time you run the chain.

Many older quests gave a guaranteed full list of blues on the third completion, but most have been power crept in heroic compared to Red Fens/Threnal... and listing everything with good epic upgrades is entering wiki article territory.

These are honourable mentions because the reward vs effort ratio is noteworthy.

Gianthold (Level 13/24):
Augments from trading in Giant/Elven/Dragon relics - the loot is rare and most of the trade-ins are obsolete but these are an excellent resource. Placed here rather than next to Feywild because it's a full-on farm, which wasn't what i initially had in mind - but it is a steady, predictable farm not an RNG nightmare and augments are important.
The end reward for doing all quests has about... half?... of the blues you might have been hoping for, and is the most likely way to score your monk Adamantine Knuckles without a grind/shard cost.

Sentinels of Stormreach (level 7-8/21):
Not guaranteed, but especially generous in how many blues it offers so odds of getting what you want are great.

Sharn Syndicate (level 4):
The "Nicked <item>" end chain rewards here seem to include like... half?... the table. so not guaranteed, but they're still powerful enough to be noteworthy.

Menechtarun Desert wilderness (Level 11):
Various rares in encounter chests - this is the grindiest thing i'm willing to put on this list, but some of it is *extremely* powerful, especially the epic upgrades, and it's not as hard to get as it used to be. The token to pick one of your choice from the quests and wilds can be traded too, but you do need a fair few.

Delera's Tomb (levels 5-8/27:
Voice of the Master as an end reward for faster levelling.
Again in epics for an artifact version which is very flexible until 'real' artifacts at Legendary
You can get the Epic Voice of the Master by running the Heroics chain so you can use it from the get-go at lv 20.

Ravenloft (level 10/29):
A free weapon which may or not be better than the Sovereign Past ones for your build.
Sentient Gem at 29
You can sneak into the wilderness at lv 20 and grab the Weapon and Sentient Jewel then. I recommend using a weapon from Borderlands to slot it into.

You need 625 Antique Bronze Tokens in order to get an item of choice that drops in the wilderness. Even if you are not a spellcaster I recommend getting the Ring of Spell Storing, Epic Ring of Spell Storing and Legendary Ring of Spell Storing (if you self-heal at all and use sp for it). You can carry all 3 at the same time. I also recommend getting the same levels for the Twisted Talisman from The Last Stand in Red Fens.

Agree for the Antique Bronze Token turn in as the Ring of Spell Storing got a low drop rate from my experience. If you running a 2 handed fighter I highly recommend grinding the Xumm chest. The drop rate not horrible, think it took me about 30min on the new 64 bit char to get one. Getting the 50 desert sand token for upgrading it to epic version not bad and for a first life 2 handed fighter it will get you from 20 to 31 and at 31 I would grind out a Dino weapon.

Vecna Unleashed (level 18/34):
Reliquary Weaponry (very common blues) is notable for letting you trade 2-1 for a preferred type.

Myth Drannor: (Level 13/34):
Weapons of the fallen age (very common blues) have a similar 2-1 swap
The rare chests do have a lot of superb blues with normal drop rates, despite the bad taste many of us have for the rare table.

...

Many older quests gave a guaranteed full list of blues on the third completion, but most have been power crept in heroic except only Red Fens/Threnal... and listing *everything* with a good epic upgrade will get unwieldy.

...

Sentinels of Stormreach (level 7-8/21):

Obvious newbie question: What do you mean here by "blues"?

New wheloon rat quests has the cranium necklace at level 4. 14th caster level nightshield clicky x3
Doesn't fit the parameters of this list because it's a standard 'ransack and pray' blue, bit *is* a great suggestion I hope people scroll down to. That duration sounds lovely!

Saltmarsh (level 3/32):

The wilderness is very generous with powerful items, especially at Legendary.
This is a great list and really appreciate you putting it togethere.

Unfortunately i have to completely disagree with saltmarsh, The wilderness is the exact oppposite of generous, It's actually nearly on my list of content i refuse to run. Don't get me wrong. I love the map, the music and the monsters. But the named item drop rate in the wilderness, is absolutely terrible. I have run it countless times both solo and in groups and i can count on one hand the amount of named items the group receive in a run. One run i believe we managed to spawn over 10 rares in a group of 4 people, so thats 40+ pulls and it was only the last rare that actually gave 2 named items.

If that had been a one off run, i could understand it. But i have run it many times and each time we are barely getting anything. It's the one pack i regret buying the most. My only consolation is unless the group i am in, wants to run it. I never have to run this content again.

Masterminds of Sharn (Level 15/32)

Lots of best in slot at level and beyond gear, some customization upgradable items and saga rewards.
Gear sets fit well with pretty much any build variation
All BTA items so easily moved between alt toons.

Easy farm gear sets Level 15 gear is often worn until level 32 gear gets swapped in.

in my option Masterminds of Sharn is the must have expansion pack to get geared up until the super grindy hard to get items get worked into the final build.

Point. This was in a weird spot, i've never gotten 5 myself on one character and it's deceptively similar to the feywild system, but feels less generous despite needing less tokens. I've kind of tweaked it just to say 'if you get 5, look at the trade-ins'.

This is YOUR own loot convention and has nothing to do with anything this game has ever produced. Do what you want. But your list is just a waste.

Well of course it is 'my own loot convention', the first sentence mentioned it being subjective and I then stuck within the stated goals in what I feel is a rational and defensible way.

I am sorry you do not feel... represented or whatever, and hope you usually have a little more perspective on what's worth lashing out over than this unbecoming display.

I would like to at add the following:
Some of the Keep of the borderlands ML1 named loot:
The shield (if u need a shield), the umd gloves, the casting rings, the trapping equipment (especially if u didn't took the trapping set of Korthos)
All these items you can easily get and even with a mythic bonus on them. The feather cloak etc...

Phiarlan carnival ML4 items, it has good drop rates and the end of chain always gives some named. Maybe not top but a few are very good. Utility vest for example for a trapper.

For second life+ toon I believe that the FR vendor sets given with commendations might be a good option. The commendations can be swapped to the kind you need, the items are not bad if you don't have something epic.

Also at fr you can get some weapons that don't really do much but can get you started. In general there are some rewards in fr that worth mentioning for first/second lifers.

I'm not mentioning challenges, as you need to grind. I still haven't earned anything from cannith challenges for example...

The 3bc set if ml 5 and easy to get. Not a great set but still offers some quality of life for ml 5-8.

Heroic Slavers on elite, should produce 1 partially completed item per run if you are not unlucky. Great if you need to cover a hole with a stat at ML8. Certainly better than getting cannith crafting at such a high level to get it done.

Mys. Rems can get you some stuff. Not cheap but something will be gathered every life.

End rewards of tangleroot are guaranteed. Don't know if there is anything of value there.

I agree on most points except these.
I find Silver Flame Trinket (or any other scarab item) not worth running 15 quests professionally designed to provide as detestable experience as possible.
I have also found Epic Voice lacking in comparison to Epic Blood Stone, EGoMF or Epic Croc Tooth. But for a new player, maybe.

The fist silver flame upgrade and the second silver flame upgrade are tolerable. Do not ask for the 3rd and 4th (3rd life I'm trying to get a 4th upgrade @#%^#$@#)
