A new kind of heroic reincarnation!

It would be cool if there was a heroic reincarnation similar to epic reincarnation.
Meaning that your quest list/favor/inventory doesn't reset.
As your quest list didn't reset, I'm guessing 2 TRs like that works be the limit before XP would turn tough to gain. But it would reduce significantly the cache requirements.
Hmm iconic should be excluded from this.
In case it wasn't clear this mainly helps with the cache.

Something I think should be looked at is simply allowing a person to go to 30 (or more) and do an Epic + Hero/Racial for non-iconic characters. This would reduce the time it currently takes to rebuild back to 20 just to do the reincarnation step again.
agreed, it feels kinda silly to have to go from 30+ to 1 then to 20 again then back down to 1 again

Or even keep inventory in inventory except for overflow due to not enough spaces after TR, equipped items at overlevels slowing you down until removed (like ETR)
No, inventory needs to empty so you can play comfortably Korthos without access to a bank

I do believe there is enough heroic content for 2 1..20 progress like there is enough content for 2 20-30 progress.

This was the core of this suggestion.

For the TR cache, yes it would be a huge QoL to be able to choose if your bank goes to the TR or not!
If not extra items due to loss of k bank go to overflow.

Cheers

i mean i know there is enough content i was commenting that one should be able to get an epic and heroic/racial past life at the same time so that you dont have to go level 30+ down to level 1 for the epic life then level up picking random stuff all the way to 20 wasting like 5-10 mins of time that shouldn't need to be wasted then once level 20 then getting the race/heroic past life. something like an epic heroic heart of wood and an epic heroic heart of blood could be a solution to this

Did sound like you wanted 2x heroic to avoid having to deal with cache, I’d personally rather deal with cache than run 2x heroics with limited quest choices - especially for players without all packs it would become boredom and tedious repetition to get to 20 second time

For epics is completely different you could run many more lives if you wanted, after all the first time bonuses simply running legendary dailies at N or H gives very fast xp/min, that coupled with sagas, slayers etc makes the well of xp almost bottomless (I did almost all my epics only rarely going back to 1 on my main 10 years ago)

I want to avoid 2 things.
a) having to deal with TR cache
b) doing favor clearing

The suggestion practically allows us to deal ~1/2 the times with TR cache and by good planning it should allow us to not waste XP through favor clearing.

What a strange and downright ridiculous way to attempt to fix the annoyance of the TR Cache.

All we REALLY need is an 'Empty Cache' button that transfers all items in the TR Cache to, first the Character Bank, then the Inventory, and if both fill, the Shared Bank. Obviously it should empty BtC items first to avoid the situation where unbound or BtA items fill the first two and then the Shared Bank won't accept the BtC ones.

Probably doesn't really even matter if it checks for enough space first or just stops when there's none left. Whatever issues having all three full would generate, you're dealing with anyway if you empty the cache manually. A progress bar, like the one you now get when you empty bags into the Shared Bank - Crafting Storage, would be a lovely QoL addition.

Alternatively, they could do part of what I recommended back when they were looking at revamping bank storage. I recommended using the AH UI with tabs across the top for Inventory, Character Bank, Shared Bank, TR Cache, and even AH and ASAH when you're within, say, 5 m of an Auctioneer. Then implement Windows-style drag-and-drop rules, including Ctrl-A, Ctrl-click and Alt-click selection to allow you to drag items from the open window to any tab at the top. The benefits are substantial: less screen real estate required, location-aware tab displays (open Bank tabs anywhere within a bank, AH tabs near an Auctioneer, etc), source and target aware dragging (drag from AH = buyout, for example), all the plethora of categories, search options, etc already built-in to the AH UI. You could even have a toggle for each tab to show the items in a window in various forms with names only or names + descriptions or whatever.

Now that they've invested in a bad UI, they're unlikely to revisit it entirely <sigh> But they could still implement the Windows-style drag-and-drop between the various storage windows... again, ideally with a progress bar.

I'm quoting the following message from another thread.
I admit, the grind feels massive when all the hours put in gets you nothing but a single past life. It is too long-term a goal for me. I eventually redesigned the game in my head. The purpose of the game is to run quests for first time favor bonus. Thus the entire point is to play each quest once on elite or reaper with no repetition (not even to play a quest on both herioc and epic) and then to TR and do it again. Since the reward is favor (and store points) I get the carrot every time I play. Instead of its taking weeks to finally get the reward, I get a smaller reward every day. It has had a profound impact on how the grind feels to me.

This is exactly my point of view too. I play for attaining max favor. And while I can do 2 ERs to cover almost all epic content each life. I'm obliged to clear heroic favor by losing a significant amount of XP each life. I actually believe that there is enough only heroic content to do 2 heroic lives each time if you are trying to max out favor. And that is exactly what I'm suggesting, introducing a TR mechanism similar to ER but for heroic life.
That mechanism would allow players to collect all game favor without really losing XP in the process. Also as a cool side effect it would reduce TR cache management to every 2 heroic lives.

This TR mechanism doesn't replace the existing system, just gives a bonus option. Also I do believe that this mechanism might help at the PL catching up.
With a bit of good planning it reduces burnout by doing more diverse content rather than repeating the same all the time. Also having favor rewards at the 2nd go, you are more powerful and the 2nd round will go significantly smoother. At least this is my ER experience. While it takes me a month to go from 20->30 the first time the subsequent 20->30 takes me 2-3 weeks. Yes I'm a casual player, I play 2 max 3 times per week for 1-2 hours. I do non quest stuff though separately which helps a bit.

OK, but.. even accepting the premise that the goal is first-time-run favor maximization, if you simply TRed and chose to run different quests you'd get the same first-time favor without the need for the game to change anything. Aside from ticking some OCD box, what's the actual upside? Just skipping the TR cache cleanout? Really?

I still say fixing that is the real solution. The rest is band-aids.

I don't have anything against your request. I wouldn't ever use it myself, since the resetting of favor is the best part of reincarnating, but I'm happy to see it as an option for people that want it.

I did have a similar idea to you which was to double the exp curve for a heroic life (meaning going from 3.8 million to 7.6 million experience) and it gives you two heroic or racial lives at once. It is effectively the same thing except without actually dropping down to level 1 halfway through. I'm not entirely sure if I would use it or not. I probably would, though it would result in my acquiring a lot fewer store points as I accumulate my past lives, but I do see the benefit. Currently I run all the heroic only quests that exist in the game when I am level 1-20 and just a few of the quests with a level 20+ option (they finally redesigned so many of the old heroic only chains and added a level 20+ option that there is no longer quite enough experience to get from 1 to 20 with heroic only quests if you don't use potions, are not a VIP, are not running Cannith Challenges, and are not doing any heroic slayers).

i mean technically it would also make it so your full favor doesn't reset to you can work towards the 7500 favor while still getting a heroic life so that would also be handy in some circumstances.

That is exactly, the point. Without losing XP, without serious repetitions and by doing 2 ERs I reach lvl 30 with ~5k favor. That means me actively trying to get max favor.
For the last 2 miles I have to lose XP. (Most legendary content is also heroic saga content so that has been included).
So getting the last 2k is more or less assuming you will just be earning favor, no XP no RXP. That is not so motivating.
At least for me. It is also quests that I would choose to skip because of some peculiarity. For example: sorrowdusk, threnal, Necro 1-3 and other. All these have a structure that requires longer playing sessions than I usually do and doing them only for favor is not very motivating.
Ps: I love Threnal and part of sorrowdusk for their stories. Necro is not my favorite... Not a big fun of undead.

I get the point of the XP/min group of people. But for me it is game completeness and that I measure by Favor. So reaching to the 8k favor on a run is my goal. But if I have to do 2-3k wasted it is not so motivating.

And tbh, I think an added TR mechanism like the ER mechanism would be beneficial for the community. I'm pretty sure the optimizers would find a way to use it 😅. I'm not an extreme optimizer but I'm certain that in combination with an Otto's or other strategies would work like a charm.

If your kink is reaching full Favor or your OCD requires it, then whatever it costs you, it costs. Petitioning Dev time on this mechanism just for that seems.. personal. Not even close to meeting a universal need.

OK, but how often do you want/need to attain full favor? Once you've earned all six +8 tomes, there's no reason to aim for it again, aside from the OCD issues mentioned above. So we want the Devs to do this so 6 lives are positively impacted for a small fraction of the game's population?

I'm not seeing it.

It isn't OCD. When you skip half the quests, you skip half the store points. Why earn 1000 store points per life when you could earn 2000 per life? I run every quest (up to a multiple of 100 favor, which means I will skip a little if it won't get me to the next multiple of 100) every life because that is how I have paid for every bag, storage space, tome, piece of content, and everything else I could ever want from the game. People repeat raids each life for threads of fate. Running all the quests each life for store points is the same idea. No need to leave reward on the table.

You could TR half done, but you will have half the store points when you finally finish your character. I'm definitely not going to keep TRing and running quest for favor when I have every past life, so instead I am getting all the favor each life to keep busy and to keep from getting every past life too quickly.

It also makes the game way less repetitive because you will never repeat a single quest until you have run every other quest in the game once more. That means the amount of time between quest repetitions is absolutely maximized. Even the worst quests are not that bad when you have a huge break between playing it.

you seem to forget alts exist so that's 6 times for all +8 tomes yes but then you need to repeat that process 6 times for every character which can quickly get into the triple didgets

Ummm.. that's the strangest math I've ever encountered, and I've seen some doozies.

First, you're going to earn the same 1000 per life; you're just running two lives per life and calling it something different. You earn the same amount of favor per quest run, regardless. You're like the guy who cuts 4" off the top of the page and tapes it to the bottom because he wants a longer page. You change nothing and want to invest Dev time in doing so.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'finish your character', but if you mean by the time you have all the past life feats, fine. True. And if that bothers you, run an alt.

As for the repetition, nobody makes you run the same quests every life; that's something YOU choose. I deliberately choose to branch out and run some of the less-common ones. Creating a new form of reincarnation because you lack the self-regulation to choose to run different quests is ridiculous.

I remember that if you want to run alts, that's your choice. And if you want to farm +8 tomes on all your alts, likewise. But pretending that that's a common thing among players?

That's where you lose me.

Yes, finishing a character is running out of past lives and alts are a complete waste of time. I am one person in the real world and one person in video games. I don't play alts.

But yes, you are right, I do not need a new form of reincarnation. I wasn't the one calling for it, I was just pointing out that OCD is not the only reason to do all the quests. Some of us are here to play the game, not skip most of it. I regularly get people joining my groups saying they haven't play this quest in years. That means they are missing a decent portion of the game because they skip a bunch of quests every life and skip those same ones the next life and the life after. Playing games in their entirety isn't crazy and there is no strange math in correctly accounting for how favor turns into store points. If I ran the minimum number of quests needed to finish a life I would have all the lives, less store points than I do now, and no reason to play.

if it takes you 2 weeks to get 8000 favor and tr, and someone else in those 2 weeks, got 2000 favor and TRed 4 times, who has more points???
