A new kind of heroic reincarnation!

It would be cool if there was a heroic reincarnation similar to epic reincarnation.
Meaning that your quest list/favor/inventory doesn't reset.
As your quest list didn't reset, I'm guessing 2 TRs like that works be the limit before XP would turn tough to gain. But it would reduce significantly the cache requirements.
Hmm iconic should be excluded from this.
In case it wasn't clear this mainly helps with the cache.

if it takes you 2 weeks to get 8000 favor and tr, and someone else in those 2 weeks, got 2000 favor and TRed 4 times, who has more points???
the person with 8000 favor cuz the other person for some reason basically did only slayers to only get 2000 favor across 4 lives

It isn't OCD. When you skip half the quests, you skip half the store points. Why earn 1000 store points per life when you could earn 2000 per life? I run every quest (up to a multiple of 100 favor, which means I will skip a little if it won't get me to the next multiple of 100) every life because that is how I have paid for every bag, storage space, tome, piece of content, and everything else I could ever want from the game. People repeat raids each life for threads of fate. Running all the quests each life for store points is the same idea. No need to leave reward on the table.

You could TR half done, but you will have half the store points when you finally finish your character. I'm definitely not going to keep TRing and running quest for favor when I have every past life, so instead I am getting all the favor each life to keep busy and to keep from getting every past life too quickly.

It also makes the game way less repetitive because you will never repeat a single quest until you have run every other quest in the game once more. That means the amount of time between quest repetitions is absolutely maximized. Even the worst quests are not that bad when you have a huge break between playing it.
You are conflating two points.
You get LESS favor per time spent by running all quests instead of just running the best quests.
You get more total favor when the character is finally "finished", of course. But who cares? Very few players will find "this way you will never finish your character" to be an upside, lol.

For all reasonable intents and purposes running all quests to "max" favor gain is a mistake.

Yes, finishing a character is running out of past lives and alts are a complete waste of time. I am one person in the real world and one person in video games. I don't play alts.

But yes, you are right, I do not need a new form of reincarnation. I wasn't the one calling for it, I was just pointing out that OCD is not the only reason to do all the quests. Some of us are here to play the game, not skip most of it. I regularly get people joining my groups saying they haven't play this quest in years. That means they are missing a decent portion of the game because they skip a bunch of quests every life and skip those same ones the next life and the life after. Playing games in their entirety isn't crazy and there is no strange math in correctly accounting for how favor turns into store points. If I ran the minimum number of quests needed to finish a life I would have all the lives, less store points than I do now, and no reason to play.
There is literally nothing stopping you from collecting all the favor each life now.

Splitting a life into two lives with some kind of new reincarnation does one of two things. Either it gives you a heroic/racial past life.. or it doesn't.

If it does, it's just two lives back-to-back that limit what quests you can run for favor on the 2nd.

If it doesn't, then the XP you didn't 'waste' while chasing favor was still wasted because it bought you nothing but the favor, just on a second 'life' that didn't earn a past life Feat.

For clarity, let's say that a run to L20 garners 1000 Favor if you run for XP and past life. So each life, you garner 1000 Favor. With your suggestion, you, at BEST, still get 1000 Favor each life, you're just limited to the OTHER 1000 Favor on the second life. You still either do or do not gain a past life feat. If you do, it's identical to the current system. If you don't, there's even less value in it, since you have to run twice as hard for each past life.

Really.. I don't know how to express it any clearer. There is NO justification for this that makes the slightest logical sense.

I like this for a way to earn a currency through.

We have enough past life based power, but if we could earn unique craftables by reincarnating, that could be worth it.

His point is that when he finishes his character he will no longer earn points, thus taking as long as possible to finish their character is preferable.
It is completely backwards to what reasonable people would expect, of course.

Both characters are played until they get every life and then they are no longer played because there is no point in playing them. Who has more points?

Technically the 8k favor because of first time bonuses.

What kind of currency?

Not everyone has a lot PL, many don't really want to reincarnation and just want to play.
TR is a bit of a chore and can't really stop being a chore.

I personally only have 5 PL, but 8 ERs with the exception of my 1st TR which I didn't do an ER, I do 2 ERs per life. Because I find it more fun, I get more time to enjoy my toon while still processing it.

It seems people do not enjoy their toons and don't want others to enjoy them either.

Cheers

Essence crafting blanks with sun/moon augment slots or sentient compatible essence crafting weapons, or precrafted shards that can be used in essence crafting but not crafted through essence crafting.

Any of the things you mentioned would be lovely. I'm not seeing it happening but I would love them. What I expect is that we will see a craftable named item with moon or sun slots (rare or like mystical ring difficulty to get).
And maybe a craftable weapon that accepts sentience (probably raid item).

While I did not mention it because I wanted to leave it open. The new heroic reincarnation should cost seeds and not tokens 😜.
So that way we can use a resource we have too much instead of a more scarce one.

This is a lot of noise and request for Dev time for something with zero upside. You want all the favor and to delay getting all the past life feats? That definitely makes you an outlier, but it's completely valid. However, I have two thoughts:

1. There is literally no reason you can't just run every single quest every single life anyway. If that's your style, go for it. The XP is only 'wasted' if you think of it that way. People run quests at cap despite getting zero XP, why should it be different for you?

2. If you simply run one toon until you've maxed it, like most people do, then you can run a second that will earn XP, Favor and Past Life Feats all over again. Sure.. you WILL run into a limit some day when you run out of character space, but that's a LONG way off. And as a bonus, if you do your first three on different servers, you can even get the first-run Favor bonuses all the way up to 8K on every server.

Overall, this is probably the oddest suggestion with the least upside I've ever encountered, and I've already wasted more thought on it than it deserved.

I too want a system that allows one to squeeze in all favor before level capping, however the only viable reward I could come up with that could potentially have appeal without causing further balance issues would be to make the rewards crafting related.

The reward is the Favor and the Favor rewards.

That's nonsense, that particular reward comes from the effort you made to earn them in the first place.

Converting your experience into a currency makes sense if you are not going to have this convert your experience into an experience stone to use later on for easier past life gain.

250k XP=1 Token of transmuted experience

65 tokens of transmuted experience=1 choice crafting blank

35 tokens of transmuted experience=1 choice unique crafting shard.

WOW!!! Rational thinking in a DDO forum thread... Well done!

People need to understand that a character is not the player. Having a character is part of all RPG's. The Character does not have the knowledge of the player and the "player" is supposed to take the identity of the character. If you are very smart but are playing a character with 8 INT, you are not going to be able to solve puzzles.

People either need to embrace the RPG part of MMORPG or we need to just have one class (Adventurer) and one race that has access to everything.

So I'm going to save what I learned to wait and use it when I become a new character?

You really don't get it. It has to be reaper, the highest I can get. I don't return back when I'm level 30+ to play heroic quests just to gather favor.
I cap my toon and keep playing on reaper quests while losing ~a few million XP that I rightfully earn.
You'll tell me I still warm reaper XP, and I will answer yes. But being only 5 past lives I do feel it is a waste.

You, most of the population don't see a use because you abuse the game. I'm from the minority that I try to play it as an actual rpg where the DM would only let you play appropriate to your level stories.

Now if my demand is a waste of devs time, its not for you to decide tbh. So feel free to believe that. I believe my suggestion would reduce burnout and increase the player base.

Cheers

imo tokens should be removed from the drop pool and anything that needs them should be swapped to commendations of valor for the small tokens and seeds for the large tokens

i mean i dont think people at cap should have their exp wasted either, id like to see an exp pool implemented so that you can earn exp at cap then use that exp to turn in for past lives, that way people who want to keep their character at cap can still earn past lives, while those who want to start a new still have the option to do so.
