Abandoning an iconic

I have been running an iconic. Not too happy with it. I got to level 23 and was wondering if I can just do a class TR (wood heart) instead of completing to 30.

Can I quit out of an iconic life? Any penalty or will it mess up toon's past life chain?

You can't do a class TR out of it because it would make people able to repeatedly get class TRs by going 15-20 instead of 1-20.

You can however do a Lesser Reincarnate. If you are feeling like your build is pretty broken and or you are not having fun, I would look into LR
You could even change some classes with a LR+5 or LR+20. Granted these do cost Turbine points but it might be worth it. Do you have the possibility to do a Lesser Reincarnate if that helps? It is also possible to re-spec feats one at a time through Fred. I would post your build and what you are not liking about it right now. It could be that the build plateaus and then gets better at cap, or it does have problems. 7 more levels of a build that you are not enjoying will feel like a grind. I suggest posting the build, your struggles, and then poeple can chime in with specific feedback, re-spec build ideas/examples. If you don't have LR stone options, and it cannot be saved through some minor re-specs, hopefully your guild can step in and help you power pike to cap.

It sounds like the iconic is less the problem than the classes.

Your first class is the only one you must take, and you can lr+1 to get rid of the first class, or lr to change archetypes. Or just find a compatible base class, and do a 2/18, or other mixup.

Iconics count towards completionist, and get you a base class life as well, so even if you hate it, its worth just getting the other 7 lives. Since you seem to want to just itr out of it, might as well get the iconic race life + class life out of it!

So, an Otto box cost $60 but will give you the end of the buil/combo for which you are on the path. A LR+20 will give you a fresh start to pick new class, feats, and skills (but you have to keep your alignment and race) which will hopefull;y be more fun to pick up the last 5,550,000xp. I can't remember the price of a LR+20. But that is the decision: let it ride and grind with the current build till 30, Otto at $60, or LR+20 at whatever that price is.

Neither Otto's nor +20 are good solutions for escaping a life where you're not having fun. They're both limited time items and expensive. If a 1st life alt goes sideways and sucks, then you can just abandon it and make it bank alt. If one's heavily invested main goes poorly and isn't fun, you either suffer thru it or pay a ton (and that's assuming ottos/+20s are up for sale at the time) to redo them; I've seen friends take several months to year long breaks after winding up on a life they hated and they just walked away rather than suffer thru leveling it.

I take my best DDO breaks because of dumb builds I talk myself into. Never a bad time to take some time off when the going gets dumb. Sincerely, bad builds are a time suck tragedy, and I hope you find some light at the end of the life!

I like to try new builds on iconics because I can roll one to try it out. If I like it, then it may become a build I play with a more developed toon. If I don't like it, then it's no big deal because I don't really have any money or time invested in it. Either way it's getting deleted.

Otto's boxes are offered very occasionally and not something you can just buy at will from the store or market. They have a Heroic and a separate Epic version. Also, they only offer -4 million (I think) XP, so it may get you to 20 on a first life character, but on my 3rd life+ character It only gets me to about level 12 or 13 (assuming I used it at level 1). I honestly think you should post your build here and lets see if we can help you salvage your build.

If you have the points, getting a couple slayer and xp pots might be your best option to level up quickly if you haven't done them already to get to 23. At that level, you probably have enough power to handle just about any slayer zone in the game. (I would be cautious of Ravenloft as I've seen people get quickly mobbed there with full spawns and die, especially if someone is kiting things to gather them up for kills and pushes the group into red dungeon alert.)

Barring slayer zones it might just be best to find someone or some people to help carry you up to cap. Good thing about iconics are you only have to get to 30 to roll them back, so if you haven't gone up to 32 yet (or 34 when the cap increases in a few weeks), you won't have to worry about that and can do it on the next life.
