Advice for Enter the Kobolds

So I decided to try this as I wanted to change up my Tr train, and it was really smooth until I got to the puzzle. I get that you move like chess knight, but since you can't see the full view of the rooms, it is hard for me to imagine what that means and where I will end up. Plus there are multiple colored gems to choose from that you bring you different places and I couldn't figure out any formula or pattern. I kept clicking on the floor runes and moving and finally got it, but it took me at least 30 minutes. What is the easy way?

Second, the boss room was impossible for me on R1 solo. Normally I cruise through content on R1. But I died multiple times and never did finish the quest. Is it just about having fire absorption? How do I stay alive long enough to kill the boss? FWIW, I am playing a DL fighter and normally am very tanky.

Yeah, it's hard to see, but not impossible. I give you props for actually trying to figure it out instead of instantly going to the wiki for a solution.

Speaking of, yeah, the wiki has a "least moves" solution that you can follow, as well as additional steps if you want the chest that's at the side of the puzzle. You still have to deal with the awkwardness of being in it instead of above it, but it can help.

As for the boss fight, it is rough. Lots of fire damage. If you can take the fire damage, one option is to rush the boss, get there before the elementals and living spells spawn and beat him down asap. Another option is to lure them to the entrance cave before the open fire pit of a boss room. I don't remember when he leashes, but you can use the cave entrance to protect yourself from some of the incoming fire damage from the "trash".

It's a hard fight. 10 years ago, maybe the hardest in the game. Common practice was to leave one guy at the shrine valve when the rest of the party wiped.

One tactic is to zero in, kill a few things, then run out and stuff will rubberband, then heal up, refresh fire resist, and head back.

I think we'd all focus dps on the effreet then do the kobold.

It used to be a really good xp farming quest before bravery.

When I was running this back in the day I used to park a hireling in the tunnel just around the bend. Then I'd stand in his view and in the bosses view and just range/cast the boss down.

Hireling doesn't get hit by anything because nothing has LOS to him but me. Heals kept me up and I'd just power the boss down.

Wasn't a perfect solution but it did allow me to complete once I got the angles down.
