All this hype around the Chill of Ravenloft drop rates being better and they only raised it 1%?

A lot of things SSG does make no sense. Continuing with this rare loot crap after the amount of complaints from the player base makes no sense.
Depends on how much players actually spend on chest rerolls I guess. I would be really curious if that number went up since MD.

Seriously?
In every thread they've made, and the developer discussions they've been mentioning they've stated they "further increased the rare drop rate compared to previous content" and "The odds of reaching this table are higher than in past content" and it's only gone from 5% to 6%?

I can see why they aren't publicly disclosing the odds, but that just makes it feel like more of a slap in the face.

Edit: To clarify 5% is the chance to upgrade from the normal drop table, so the absolute drop rate is going from 1.65% to 1.98%
Its just hype to help monetize a shady system... Feeds on itself until people experience the Expansion first hand. After which everyone will be here in mass to rage vent. Pretty much the same as always.

Well I'll likely buy the cheapest version to run with guildies but we'll see. Haven't quite decided yet.
I feel like the fewer people that buy and run it, the more likely we are to get the message across. Rare loot is purely a whale-milking mechanic, but the whales still need the rest of us to play with. If the whales have to play alone, they will either quit and leave or put pressure on SSG to make less stupid decisions.

I held off getting MD for months. But when my guildies returned and started running it for about a month, I caved. I'll likely do something similar here. Let them test it, and if they keep playing, get it. It sucks when your friends are running quests you can't.

I stopped running MD quests outright when I did the math on rare items, and the only interaction I have with the expansion is two non-rare items and running the raid when my guild wants to.

They also show up in the client, but they are not used from the client. They are redundant and not locally hackable. In theory, the client could be showing drop rates that are completely different from the real ones on the server, but that has never happened before (and would make no sense).
That they're present at all is indicative of incompetence. You're just arguing that it's Wile E Coyote level rather than full Mr Magoo.

We ran the quests like we do any others, we just didn't try to farm them. During the 2 weeks of anniversary loot boost we got a number of rares just running the sagas though. I got the ring not too long ago but didn't have all the augments to make the switch. I got the last of those like 2 weeks ago but I still haven't switched my gear over. The last couple weeks I've pulled like 5 of the rare armors/robes, just not any I can use.

The raid I've gotten my weapons done and that was all I really wanted. Might grab the bracers using runes. We'll see.

One thing to consider is that with myth drannor it's 4-5 rare items per end chest, so even if you have a 5% chance to hit the rare drop table out of the 34-43% chance to get a named item, that's only a 1% - 1.2% chance to get a specific item (assuming all rares have the same chance)
Meanwhile Lammordia rares are a 6% chance to hit the table and 3 items on said table (and thankfully not artifacts this time) so precluding you hit the named item drops you've got a 2% chance to get a specific item. That's a pretty big difference relatively but the real question is however whether it is enough.
However the rares in this pack's main difference is they have one more pack augment slot and one less innate effect, so the question of this expansion when it comes to rares is mostly what are the default effects on the rare items and how much the crafting is better than default effects as to whether the rares really end up as chase items.

I bought the whale version based on "dino crafting" but then they posted "dino crafting and rare loot". The bait-and-switch is infuriating.
That sucks, but man, you know the saying, "Fool me once, shame on them, fool me twice..."?

MD was on them. After MD, maybe not so much.

I was expecting that, but I'm still surprised the change they made was so minimal.

This just makes them even less clever. They could have stuck 20% in the location that gets 'datamined' and most people would have been happy. Well more anyway.

Never go full Magoo!
