Another hacked account

So how is best to approach this with SSG?
Someone logged into the account spent 15k points, removed ottos boxes & travellers trunks from the shared bank and used about 6k of shards.
Do I have anychance of getting these back? no keyloggers or virus that I can find, password not used anywhere else so from what I can see (especially with the amount of other posts here) SSG is really lax on security of its players accounts.
I am really unsure if i want to continue paying into this game, thought I was helping support a game I enjoy but now I am thinking its time to walk away.
Maybe I'll feel less **** in a few days but the other posts here don't fill me with confidence that SSG will handle this well.
Why are there no lockouts after multiple attempts at the wrong password? why is there no two factor authentication or anything to protect you?
Add that the regular adverts in trade for cash for shards/boxes you have to wonder if its someone at SSG making a little extra.

Maybe im too angry to be posting here

I can do things others can't...
I'm sorry for you on reading your situation.

My post and questions aren't going to be much help for you here, but may be useful for others, when you have time, answering them could help others secure their accounts better against the possible intrusion by unwanted access from other parties.

1. How old is your account? Was your login details the same as your forum details from the older forums? (All forum user details got leaked from the old forum, if this was the same as your game login, this is a massive breach and you need to go change it fast.)

2. Have you ever shared your account with anyone else? Family members or friends? Etc. (Sometimes it's not you, or even the others you shared info with about your account that caused the problem. But every link in that chain potentially has unwanted third party access that could act maliciously via stolen info if they are not secure with handling login info/data between family/friends)

There have been several reports here of people accessing another's account by accident upon log-on ; the correct thing to do is of course to log off immediately, but some may be tempted to ransack the account's valuables. I'm left wondering if that's what happened here, of if there's a genuine threat of deliberate hacking ongoing. IIRC that's a least the 5th or 6th time someone here complains of a compromised account in recent months.

Anyway this sucks greatly, and SSG should absolutely start communicating on this matter.

happened to me too, someone logged into my account on dec. 20th and spent 5000ddopoints and transferred 1500+ astral shard and all the raid bypasses, never shared my password to anyone, what's the best practice to do in this cases?

It is extremely difficult to imagine having 15k points, 6k+ Shards, Boxes and Trunks just sitting around.

If I had the kind of disposable income to drop $$$ on all that stuff then I personally wouldn't be fussed about it disappearing...

It’s extremely easy for me to imagine, especially when points and boxes are on sale. The largest double point pack nets you 33k+ points, buy two. Spend 30k on 6k shards and you still have 36k+ points for boxes. I’d be pissed if my account was hacked and I hope SSG has a good answer for the OP.

People grind lives and save DDO points. People build up Shards by auctioning stuff. People also spend real money to buy stuff.

Things aren't always about the money, either way though, it is horrible that this person had this happen to them. How would you feel if this was you?

If they have trouble keeping the game working and never answer tickets, I wonder if they even care about cyber security.

This really is horrible and it sucks this is happening to you. Reconsidering even playing makes total sense. Why stay, if all your efforts can be wiped out in a moments notice?

From my observation over the years, for most players, nothing happens. SSG will blame you for it, and offer nothing.

Events like this, along with so many other customer service and fiscal issues, are why I utterly refuse to give this company money. Under any circumstances.

They literally couldn't care less. If you read their better business bureau reviews, its atrocious. Last time I checked it was a 1 star rating.

If I can lose everything, and have zero backup or support, why pay anything ? These types of events clearly illustrate SSGs utter incompetence and disdain of customers. This was likely preventable with some basic security measures they refuse to implement. And when things like this happen as a result of their negligence, it's the players who lose out.

Why support that?

its quite the opposite though, people that are good with money dont like it when money is wasted or stolen. thats why they end up with lots of it

SSG basically admitted liability when they altered the login screen to remove the store link.

1: Old, I think there was some similaity between username but theres no way to change that from what I can find

2: no, not shared.

If there was a data breach why not force users to change usernames/passwords? should be easy to do.

just had double bonus points (top amount is over 30k points, add the shards and you can see how) and discounts on shards, I tend to stock up at those times to last me the next few months, tbh probably spend too much on the game thinking it helps supports the game I play (patron coffers, ultimate expansions etc) not convinced even if I do stay playing I will continue to support the game in the same way if it can be stolen with no support from SSG.
Interestingly I have heard of people logging a character out to find themselves in anothers character selection screen, seems like some real security flaws.
