This really gets to me at times. I'm running level 25 Epic Elites today, in Catacombs, and I'm pulling Smoldering Embers and Mystical Formulae. I've noticed this before, but today it really got to me. I can understand getting these lower-level collectibles in some quests, sometimes, but getting them consistently in mid- to high-Epic Elite just doesn't seem right to me. Maybe RNGesus just hates me. I don't know.

I’m actually glad we’re getting some heroic collectibles in Epic and Legendary quests.
Why?
Because getting just tier 6 collectables after 20 sucks. Particularly if running Epic and Iconic lives or at cap.
It makes crafting blow chunks because the bottleneck is not the 5 rares you need but the 15 commons.
The VIP crafting tokens were inspired however at the moment they only turn in for rare collectables.

RNGesus loves everyone! Except you. 
If you're a VIP hit them all. The rare tokens are very good for getting low level rares that are a PITA to collect otherwise.

I wish *all* collectable nodes had a chance to drop anything from lower-tier tables too. It sucks having to go farm L1 quests on a L34 because you're short on Tier 1 collectables, since you blast through L1-5 (effective level to boot) so fast.
Or at least have a trade-down feature, so I can trade my T5 Uncommon Cultural collectable for a T4 Uncommon Cultural, etc.

The alternative is tier 6 collectibles which are hardly used for anything. Tier 2-3 collectables are much better than tier 6.
