Appeal to the guild leaders of Sarlona regarding US servers.

i'll keep this short and sweet...

Seems like most of Sarlona will be moving to Shadowdale (at least those who are sticking with US servers.)

my guild (Bathory Hordes) is moving to Thrane.

I would like for the guild leaders to form a discussion group on here, or maybe Discord. Why? I would love nothing more than to keep all of us Sarlonians in one place!

It also would be awesome if we all went to the same place to further increase the server population. One of the reasons why I took many, many long breaks from this game was due to sitting in the market waiting for group to fill to run content.

if the move is to a US server to be in a more favorable time zone, than the only other difference is the server name.
For that reason alone, some of the larger guilds with the most active players should strive to keep us all together.

It's a sweet thought, but it's impossible. People will make choices for a variety of factors. Some are in multi server guilds looking to consolodate. Some people are actively looking for the biggets player base to group with, some players want the smallest population convinced it will change lag, there is no way to corral the entire server to move to the same one. It will be sad, but it's time to wish people good loot and happy xp wherevery they want to go. No one choice will fit every guild or player.

I was hoping for the same, but we have a large non-US population and many of those will go to moonsea for the better ping and larger population in their time zone.

Of the people I run with most - we are trying to relocate to the same server. 1 is committed to Thrane 100% and a guild I raid with every Saturday is 100% committed to Shadowdale. As far as the others - 2 strongly prefer Shadowdale and 1 strongly prefers Thrane. The rest just want everyone to stick together and don't have strong opinions on where to go.

A long-time friend I did about 40 etrs with and sometimes join his reaper raiding is going to Moonsea along with his guild.

It seems anecdotally that Thrane will have the largest US population and Cormyr the lowest.

With Thrane having potentially the largest population and the most power users - it seems like there is higher potential for performance issues. That is complete speculation on my part of course.

Shadowdale seems mostly like the "casual" destination which is probably what I am, but I would also like more opportunities for R1 raiding and that seems more possible on Thrane or Moonsea. My interest in push raiding is very low and I am probably a notch below those that regularly push raid.

We are leaning towards just rolling a d20 in party chat even/odds for Thrane/Shadowdale and live with it lol.

Cormyr is mostly people that had such weak relationships on their main server that they were willing to give up all their connections and characters to leave - a definite red flag for me.

And I tihnk you are mischaracterizing a lot of Cormyr players. I played on it, not because I wanted to abandon my server or characters, I just wanted to play the lantern event. It was the same thing as when I went to play on hardcore, and then when my husband and I got the rewards we wanted we went back to Sarlona, turned them in, and went about our life. Others just enjoyed a server reboot where everyone doesn't already have everything and enjoyed the group mentality that forms again for a while when we all need each other again because we're not geared out the shell. And not everyone has deep relationships, so penalizing them for trying the new 64 bit option as not worth playing with does not make sense to me personally, but if it does to you, more power to you. : )

I think alot of people played on it for the event and that is a very different situation. We have a guild and characters on Cormyr from the event.

Let me just clarify my comment in case I came across more negative than I intended.

Most people want to move to a server with like-minded people, hence, people trying to establish Thrane as the end-game raiding server.

The people I run with are invested in their characters and the relationships they have on the server. I don't know a single person that considered giving up their characters or relationships to move to Cormyr for a fresh start. Thus I don't dislike anyone on Cormyr and recognize their different way of viewing things is fine, just different than me. I am likely to find more like-minded people invested in their characters and relationships on either shadowdale or Thrane which is why I completely ruled out cormyr. I don't worry about my names- happy to change those if needed. People will know who I am.

Also we need to think theres ppl out os US and EU.....those who have diff time zones and fall in something me like me in Brazil with US time -4.

Within a more populated server we prolly gonna have more opportunity to find group to run with (raid or quest, no matter diff if casual or not) regardless time zones

Regardless of where people go....the population will most certainly increase. So that is a win no matter what. Also this should remove tons of dead accounts that dont get transferred. That is also a huge win for both SSG and the player base. Good news is you are unhappy about your choice there will be a window to make a second move free. This helps lower the risk you end up in a world too laggy for you. Anyways hope it works well for each player.

I've been discussing this topic a lot on stream. For some, this has been a stressful and drama inducing moment in their DDO lives. In High Lords, it was an easy decision and it was nearly unanimous among the guildies that spoke up with all but one of our NA members either wanting Shadowdale or no preference, with just 1 member who wanted Thrane.

For anyone struggling with this decision, it can be helpful to realize that there are some unavoidable realities for pretty much anyone that is not exclusively a soloer or static group...

1. No matter what, we must choose a 64 bit server if we want to keep playing DDO
2. No matter what, there will be more people to play with than our current 32 bit server
3. No matter what, some of our friends will not be on the server we choose
4. No matter what, some of our guildies will not be happy with the choice
5. For medium+ guilds, most likely some guildies will choose a different server than where their guilds go

If you're one of the lucky ones who will be with all their friends, guildies and everyone is happy with the decision, then congrats, you win! :ROFLMAO:

In High Lords, it was an easy decision and it was nearly unanimous among the guildies that spoke up with all but one of our NA members either wanting Shadowdale or no preference, with just 1 member who wanted Thrane.

For anyone struggling with this decision, it can be helpful to realize that there are some unavoidable realities for pretty much anyone that is not exclusively a soloer or static group...

I know you're joking-ish but it actually makes sense for two MAJOR guilds to move to different servers.

Like I said, it was nearly unanimous among the guildies that spoke up with all but one of our NA members either wanting Shadowdale or no preference, with just 1 member who wanted Thrane. With such an overwhelming interest in Shadowdale in the guild it was easy to make the choice. To expand, a lot of my guildies didn't want to go to Thrane because of the initial at-large community push to go there and my guildies were concerned about performance issues on a server that so many players were rushing toward. My guildies really liked the server name as well.

Not to mention that Shadowdale is a very woody name. Thrane is too tinny. Goorrrrrn....

Then why don't you move to Shadowdale instead too, if that's what's important to you?

Got no dog in the fight, but don't understand this approach, as it implies the majority should change their plans to suit the minority. Surely, if it's that important to you, you should be the one changing your mind?

People who claim that they " liked the name " I hope that they are not in a position of power or influence over other people. By all means, make a personal decision that is right for you, but my message is for the guilds that have been around since the game's inception - like Griffon's Nest, Judges of Sarlona, Ascendants, Knights of Old Winter, Chinese Team, Roving Guns, etc...

Talk to the other GL... keep us all together!

To expand, a lot of my guildies didn't want to go to Thrane because of the initial at-large community push to go there and my guildies were concerned about performance issues on a server that so many players were rushing toward. My guildies really liked the server name as well.

64 bit servers won't suffer the same maladies 32 bit servers have. Cormyr has already proven that point

Any idea of where Judges went to? Started in that guild in 2007 MrBigg was my main at the time..Also looking for Twisted metal and The nobodies..

Not sure where to look, just getting back to ddo from a 15 yr hiatus.
