I can't login to the client or the SSG website (says my username or password is wrong) and I'm starting to panic....
Are login servers down?

I logged in just now. I did have a short delay with a progress bar I never saw before in the morning but it was only about 15 seconds.

I just did after several tries. Still no explanation as to why I had to change it in the first place.

Don't panic. If you got the passwords three times in a row some computer systems might think you're not the owner of that account and may take security measures. Even if you typed in the right password the fourth time, it will still say "incorrect password" if the login is coming from the same IP. I got this error the other day after panicking. I said, hey, the system doesn't recognize my correct password.
To remedy this, you must clear the browser cache of all data, restart the browser; wait a 10 minutes and then try again. If its still not working, maybe you didn't remember your password correctly; try reset your password.
Its like the dragon doesn't recognize you as the master anymore, because you accidently hit it on its head 3 times in a row like some troll or ogre.

Some really old/inactive accounts also were disabled until they had their password reset. If you've been away for years, you have to update your password.

I've been playing daily since 2009. It wasn't a matter of 'oops wrong password' I KNOW this password backwards and forwards. There was no reason to have it changed.
