Are older quests getting updated?

Ran a Cabal for one last night and it's now full of traps I dont remember or I slipped into another timeline. If that's the case then my better half slipped into another timeline too which would mean double timeline slippins

The traps are semi-random. You either make a deal with the NPC or have to deal with the traps.

I always kill him so I can get trap bonus to XP

I believe there's an extra chest at the end if you kill him too, if you can disable traps there's no reason not to kill him.

Without an evasion trapper a couple of the traps can be difficult.

To my knowledge that extra chest doesn't drop anything special, so it's a wash for me.
