Are Q-staff builds still viable?

So.. @ungbongwah This build requires 18 wiz/2 rge. From what Ive been told taking 18 lvls of wiz is a must. What about 16/4? The TA bonuses for qstaffs is pretty enticing.

Recommend at least 17 Wiz, for 9th level spells.

You could also split 2 rogue/1 warlock for aura + Arcane Warrior, if you don't mind losing the 18core and free imbue die.
edit: it will also cost you a BAB, but if you are careful how you take your levels, you will still be able to get Imp Crit at 18 and GTHF at 24, same as an 18/2 split.

Ultimately it's up to you. Basically it depends what you want from wizard.

Dropping wizard 18 gives up Subtle Force II: "+5% Stacking Incorpreality. Your Deflect Arrows now triggers every 2 seconds. +1 Imbue die +2% Doublestrike +10 Universal Spell Power." Though really it gives up +2 Imbue dice since you're missing out on the free one from wiz 18. In exchange you can pickup +20% Strikethrough from Acrobat tier-3; you'd also have the option of going DEX-based with Acro 3 core. Everyone loves DEX melee, right?!

Dropping wizard 17 costs you level 9 spells. Not sure what's considered a must-have these days, I haven't played a wizard in epics in ages. However if you're going T4 Acrobat, APs become an issue, since you're not really saving any from EK by dropping a couple of wizard levels. I.e., you'll want something like 40 EK / 23 Acrobat (No Mercy) / 12 Harper Agent; at which point, you've only got 5-6 APs to spare for, say, Pale Master.

That original build predates the Imbue revamp, so maybe you're better off sticking with wiz 18 / rog 2 and shifting points into Assassin for +3 Imbue dice: e.g., 39 EK / 12 Harper / 11 Pale Master / 11 Acrobat / 8 Assassin.

The beauty(?) of the barbarian 5 / rogue 3 split I proposed is it works with any caster, most of whom can offer something to buff melee. E.g., Blightcaster 12 for Shillelagh and Acid or Poison Imbue, Dark Apostate of Aureon for Apostate's Curse, Vile Chemist bonuses to simple weapons, etc. For someone who needs a bunch of caster PLs but would rather swing a stick than spam spells or use a Sword of Shadow like a normal minmaxer. :p
