Astral Shards not to transfer to 64bit worlds!

I agree with the other posters here. Losing anything from homeserver, including AS is unacceptable. Otherwise many people will stay on the 32bit server and completely quit DDO once population there gets too low.

I think it's in the best interest of SSG too to have people transfer and eventually be able to close the 32bit servers that use additional resources.

If it is too challenging or time consuming to make a new transfer system for AS, there would still be a few options.
They could for example use the event challenge trade system (put in AS for stacking tokens on home server and other way around on destination server)
Or offer DDO point coupon on 64bit server (value would be exactly what the AS would cost), once the last character on a 32bit server got transfered.

Cordovan mentioned that astral shards never transferred on hardcore and you could just spend them down... well guilds, monster manuals, pets, mounts, also never transferred from HC either; people used short term investment choices there. On regular servers, people have years of investments in multiple things including AS; we play the shard exchange, we buy otto boxes & travelers trucks that include shards, we earn them off monster manuals, we buy shards directly with the intent to use them how we want, not with the intent to just dump them on things we don't need so they don't go to waste. There's a big difference between HC transfers to our regular worlds versus migrating to a new 64-bit world where you're unlikely to ever play on your old 32-bit world ever again.

I just listened to that part of the video. It's completely unacceptable. What do regular or hardcore transfers have to do with a server transfer promoted by the company? It's an exceptional case, and they need to move everything, period.

But is Cordovan being serious, or was he just talking without knowing what he was saying, making a guess and such? Because I believe others on the SSG staff have previously said that everything would be transferred, including Astral Shards.

It's completely unacceptable that they're not transferring the shards. I agree, they have to transfer everything.

I'm already getting ready. Shared bank I can swallow. Ingredient bank. Need to buy 1 or 3 BIG BIG BIG bags . Sure that SSG can sort out astral shards . I only have 100 or so but would stilled be pretty pissed.

If true, this means SSG just doesn't *want* to transfer them. This would just be yet another predatory decision on their part.

The count of astral shards on your account is just a number in a database field. It could be transferred just like any other number in any other field in the database.

There's zero reason SSG couldn't do it beyond them simply not wanting to. Why would they not want to? That's easy, $$.

They expect the whales will rebuy mass shards when they transfer if they don't have any.

Interesting. Not gonna get too worked up at this point as it's still early. However, they're starting off behind the 8-ball already with anyone who has lived the total chaos (saying it nicely) of the LOTRO transfer garbage.

So for now....

(...but yeah, if everything doesn't transfer then it's a no-go for me as well.)

If you had one of those super rare astral diamonds drop in a chest before shards came out, they turned into a thing you could click to make 5 shards to transfer them over.

Aaaaand somebody figured out you could put one in the bank and click it infinitely.

If I was convinced that the shards were all legit, I’d agree with you. Maybe they’ll let us take shards and convert them i to ddo points or something?

Someone post the picture of the guy with like a million of them.

That's irrelevant. In fact, it's some serious whataboutism...

Why should they punish the majority of their players for the actions of a few bad apples? That's some kindergarten level disciplinary tactics.

More importantly, that's a problem of their own making because:
A) For years, they've neglected to fix their bugged, shoddy code that allows most of those exploits to happen and
B) They could have dealt with the players who did that stuff years ago but didn't.

What it tells me is that I shouldn't buy shards, shouldn't open anything that provides shards, and shouldn't sell anything on the shard exchange unless I plan to use those shards right then and there. Effectively that trade economy is flatlined until I'm on the new 64-bit worlds; and even then I'll feel bad picking up new shards knowing I left a bunch behind.

Does anyone know how the transfers went in LoTRO ? Did everything transfer there? (do they even have a premium currency or just "LoTR points" ?)

Cordovan is the Community Manager, and he stated a fact that CURRENTY Astral Shards do not transfer between servers. If you go back to the Fridays at Four with Sevelin/Tolero you will find they both stated that part of the transfers to 64-bit servers include finding a way to transfer Astral Shards.
This is all moot and speculation until they announce when and how the transfers are going to be done. Everyone can start complaining about server specific mounts not transferring because currently they don't either, or Guilds.
