Astral Shards not to transfer to 64bit worlds!

Hehheh, well....

For houses that were paid for, the process was to sell them for refund of the 'writs' used to buy them. (writs paid for with the equivalent of our AS.) Then rebuy a house on the new server with those writs. I didn't have a dog in that process, but it seemed clunky from many of the posts I read there. For us, our guild ships are going to be a sticking point. Does the guild transfer, does the ship come along with it? Do they do the refund/rebuy routine - if so, how to do that if the AS don't transfer... Etc. (Don't get me started on the mis-information about kin/guild transfers and how to make sure all members were supposed to retain their memberships...)

Edit: In addition to the ship itself, what about the paid-for amenities ON that ship?

The transfer proces was a horrod mess, as they were trying to push a river thru a 12-inch drain pipe. It took days for a transfer to process for those lucky enough to even get the transfer button to work. So that's non-play time if you're playing it safe by not logging in to your characters while things are "processing".

And now - there are STILL folks trying to get any word on lost items being replaced that disappeared during the move.

Some currency limits that may or may not have an equivalent here, (Oh, like say Glamdust. Idk if we have a cap on those here, but just as a comparison.) Moving characters from multiple servers to one risks hitting that currency limit and losing any that run over. Plat and shared plat storage has a cap, that could get filled and lose overage, tho i know most disregard plat as a non-issue.

So, yeah. There are a LOT of things that must be ironed out before any thought of moving crosses my mind.
Transfer are going to be a bottleneck, even more so because of the location change for the servers, that is not something SSG can control.

So this is how you professionally manage a community? By vocally dropping some vague info on a Friday? Well done, SSG! All this time and all these warnings about starting drama on the weekend and you just come out and do a masterclass troll of us all. Way to show us how it's done!
A really good point. 👍

Even if the intent, awful and ill conceived as it is, wasn't as controversial, the timing and nature of the comms is terrible.

Leave us to stew over a holiday weekend (in UK) Smacks of thoughtlessness, but then, so does the whole damned concept here.

Happy Easter! 😞

I was one of those that lost a kinhouse chest full of items from my personal Kin House. I'm not going to bother contacting support, however because
1) they were mostly lvling gear from instances (somewhat equivalent of random gen equipment here, although the stats are not random but actually make sense for the gear type). Also lots of Essences (augment type of slottable things) which are not that important for sub-lvl cap characters.
2) I don't remember what exactly I had there, and at least till now they have required that information in order to return the items. They must've changed their policy regarding that, though, because I can't imagine them demanding that people keep manually track of hundreds of items and their storage location.

But I really feel sorry for people who had truly meaningful stuff in their Kin chests. Their anxiety must be through the roof while SSG is wondering what went wrong and where to fetch that item data.

Ah, the false choice argument. Sure, everyone has a choice. Stay on a gutted server with your AS or pay the ransom to the SSG highway men to transfer to a server with people to group with. Seems fairly equal.
Yeah.

That's what happened with my guild on G-land. We could stay, on a server where most people we knew had left, or go to Orien and buy a new ship, leave AS/pets/mounts, and get a bugged MM. Oh, the joy of choices.

All the players I play in a group with would go to US server, me - to EU. So, what is the big difference between transfer and stay ? We are going to be separated either way !
Or all of us can choose to stay. I personally see no reason to transfer anyway.

a gutted server
You don't know how many players are going to transfer. 🙄
DDO has long since become a solo game. 😏 Don't need to have that many players on-line compared how it was something like 10 years ago.

Claimed 6 shards and 3 pets today; I guess it's been a while since I looked at my monster manuals since I transferred to Argo. I really hope they get the MM situation fixed by the time you move to the 64-bit worlds.

Yeah. It's really hard to compare with a databse restore ... not
