Battle engineer build?

Doubleking

hey what would be good build for a battle engineer I'm looking into this class again for when shadowdale launches later today and I would prefer to be a Dwarf for this build also mainly dwarfs get access to Dwarven waraxes so I don't have to sacrifice a feat

As the OP from the thread both of the above two comments have shared, it depends how much you want to try to do on your own.

The comment linked by Z works great for optimizing damage with that class split. I know you want DAxe, but for context, you can hit crazy crit profiles with Warhammer doing thay. DAxe does give you the strikethrough.

The original post that Unbongwah linked uses Renegade instead to act as more of a frontline/offtank character. The goal was for a "Jack of All Trades" type character, so if you want to double down on Melee DPS (for example), let us know, and we can probably give you a better class/AP split for your needs.

You can also still play a pure Artificer if you like, there just hasn't been much to say about them lately since Battle Engineer hasn't been buffed in a long time. I think the last major change was moving the crit multiplier bonus from the capstone to level 12, giving a welcome boost to heroic DPS. So a modern Dwarficer isn't going to look too different from my old build (soon to vanish when the legacy forums are finally sunsetted).

You get 12 heroic feats total, about half of which need to go to melee DPS: SWF x3, Improved Critical, Precision, and probably Offhand Versatility. Insightful Reflexes is a must-have, of course. SWF and Imp Crit are the only melee feats you can take with Arty bonus feats; the other three Arty feats need to go towards metamagics or Construct Essence x2. Then you have some wiggle room: e.g., do you go for Whirlwind Attack (plus pre-reqs); or some more caster bonuses like Spell Focus (Evocation) x2?
