Be careful so you do not ruin the value of the Monster Manual

The thought is that previously you earned XP for defeating enemies through the Monster Manual, now you'll earn more XP for defeating the same number or fewer enemies through Conquest.
I hope that also means a whole new mechanic (or adjustments) for extra XP in wilderness zones. Conquest XP changes will have zero effect on them and I rack up a bunch of monster manual kills out there.

What we intend to do is to refactor the Monster Manual as a system in the game, so how things are currently earned and what in general is offered has not been determined other then it'll probably be quite a bit different conceptually then the Monster Manual as exists today. The thinking on one place we might offer the XP is that we have been wanting to do work on Conquest bonus, to make it more reliable and offer significantly better XP for doing it.
To be clear, if you don't offer something as valuable as the experience that repeats itself every life, you're drawing people away from buying the manuals.
Unless you add a thing like "Each Monster Manual adds X% xp on completion", you're actively removing something that was the Monster Manual's and giving it somewhere that is not.

Speaking of wilderness areas could you implement a button you push before entering wilderness that activates a higher spawn rate of mobs like a slayer mode so we can get more mobs to kill quicker?
Its there its called a full party. Spawn is dynamic based on party size.

This 'thought process' is giving me a churning stomach. I can just see the "new thing" becoming another extensin of the Reward Track garbage. (would be happy to be wrong)

I hope y'all are seeing the 2+ pages of feedback so far.

I am very happy i forgot to grab the on-sale MMs last week.

There's no conquest in wilderness, and it's one of the main sources of MM XP.

There are many quests where I'm not interested in getting conquest; it's too slow.

There are many quests where it's not even possible to get conquest.

And are stealth-based builds penalized once again?

The idea is bad. And conquest is a ridiculous idea in itself.

We just need hard/elite options for wilderness where it treats us as being a larger party/fully scaled (regardless of actual party size).

That doesn’t help with few to no one joins the slayer group sometimes no one’s interested or late at night or I feel like soloing And doing some slayers.

I prefer my idea.

-Conquest not always work as intended, sometimes you need to do a lot of tedious opts to get it (Crucible to mention only 1)
-This make some wilderness useless, on heroics specially
-More punishment to stealth, come on what's the problem if sometimes you don't want to kill every single monster? or pickup a social dialogue?

Look on the bright side. This idea has managed to unite almost everyone. Normally you end up with 40% who think it's great, 40% who thinks it sucks and 20% who don't care and just deal.

It's a bad idea.
Don't revisit it, just shelve it.
Leave the MM as it is.

I believe that You forgot SSG usual phrase: "MM XP rewards cause lag so we need to remove it".

Why SSG have that urge to diminish sense of achievement and joy we as players have seriously, I don't know. And if XP removal happens what kind of compensation You will offer to player base who actually bought MMs?
Anyways very stupid idea, focus on something else SSG.

Changing MM to a conquest might actually make epic quests give more XP than what you would lose from MM.

I still hate the idea. MM xp is fun and different. This idea is... meh.

While this refactoring may end up making logical sense (we hope!), it would be unfortunate if it removes the enjoyment factor of gaining XP from completing Monster Manual milestones. Just the other day I was doing a low level quest for Favor-only with a friend. Our characters were level 20 and we knew we wouldn't get any XP from the quest but then I unexpectedly got about 1500 from the MM reward. It was fun! :)

It's too early to really get into details about a system that isn't ready for work yet, so just a reminder we'll have more information on our refactoring of the Monster Manual in the future. At this point it would not make sense to speculate about speculation.
I'm not worried about the details. I just loathe the basic idea.

EDIT: Douglas Adams to the rescue: "In other words - and this is the rock-solid principle on which the whole of the Corporation's Galaxywide success is founded - their fundamental design flaws are completely hidden by their superficial design flaws."
I do not care about the superficial details, when the fundamental design is awful.

Also... if it's too early, why did you mention it at all? That seems.... unwise.

It came up because a bunch of us were complaining on the forums/discord about the monster manuals not being 30% off in the store despite the advertised sale price; so Cordovan was letting us know that sale wasn't meant to be for them, because they didn't want us all jumping on buying MMs with future planned work to them that might change their value (in a player's eyes). It was good intentions, followed by typical internet reactions to it.
