Best augments for weapon?

I got a Threnalian war blade, I have 2 aug slots and no clue what I should put’ lvl 8 paladin this seems like the best long sword you can get at least for the level. It’s a red and purple slot. I think purple can hold red too, so can I Stack 2d6 acid or is there something better?

Anything with a % chance may or may not fire. Its a bug thats been going for a while now. So yeah, thats the stuff I use too.

At level 8 you can have 3d6 on each augment. I like acid and electricity. I have never tried two augments of the same damage type, but they should stack without a problem.

These days there are better weapons that the Threnal War Blade. Random weapon can have two colored slots, so you can have (for example) a weapon that is Holy + Keen and has two slots. Just review the weapons you get in chests and as end rewards and keep an eye out for double-slotted weapons. Rich people can buy them from the Auction House, but I suspect a level 8 character cannot afford such luxuries.

It has a great base damage but the best crit profile is the easily-acquired Nightforge Avenger blade.

For augments, I would put in the season Snowpeaks ruby. The event should be coming up shortly if you are interested. Damage augments have little relevance honestly; I suppose the Feybane one is not bad (I recall it affecting all creatures with 2d8 damage, not just Fey), or if you cannot kill trolls fast enough (lol) you ought to put in fire or acid? Perhaps damage bypass could even be relevant but at that level, I wouldn't bother.

Purely for aesthetics, the elemental blast weapons will change the look of your weapon to reflect that element. They are technically worse than the actual elemental cheap augments you can get anywhere; no idea why the devs dropped the ball on this one (I complained about it in some other thread).

I’d not waste augments on that weapon. There are a few better options at that level.

Check this page to see what your weapon progression availability is like and plan from there — https://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Long_Swords

I see Fimbric, Retribution, Nightforge Avenger Blade, or a Calamitous Longsword all near that level that are more worthwhile.

As stated above, the Nightforge has a naturally extended crit range, so that will stack with Improved Critical, so it’s probably your best bet, but you do you.

I recently tried two acid rubies in a weapon and found they did NOT seem to stack. So if you put in two elemental damage rubies I would suggest using 2 different types. I could be wrong but this was my experience.

Also, this is a good weapon and if you can get the rubies without sweat go for it. There is ALWAYS something better to go after, but until you acquire better make the most of what you have. Happy DDO'ing :)

I’ll keep an eye, I’m currently heavy in favor with crit build my main is keen holy and it smacks hard. I’m prob a little behind eqip wise because the group I play with does stuff a little behind we are currently doing lvl 5 quest on R2 seems like it hitting loot pretty hard. I’m coming back after like a decade last time I played they just started the raids I’d that says anything lol.

I like the Thernal blade.
As a paladin you could also consider adding devotion. Yes it will reduce your dps, but it will increase your survivability.
Still if you can add it at your shield it might be better.
Have fun

snow peaks is a good choice . personally I like force ruby as its not a damage that has any immunity for it, acid works well for most things fire another

same type with different value will work so you can slot 2d6 and 3d6

If eye rubies worked, that would be way to go. Other than that, flat dmg probably best overall. acid, electric, cold, fire. Ghostbane may be ok if you dont have it elsewhere

Why devotion? How would that increase survival? Definitely need that lol.

Better healing... Will make cure light wounds useful. It should be notable assuming you don't get a bonus from elsewhere. But for better milage I guess you want devotion at level 11, or 14 that you get the next spells.
At reaper I use a lot the cure spells, even just to check that I'm getting full hp before using my lay.
Cheers

Well i don’t even slot my Clw because it seems utterly pointless I guess I’ll make some changes see if I can not get wrecked by those wraiths
