Black Friday Sales Have Arrived!

Could still put the base edition on sale I guess. And for the other Expansions (Saltmarsh and Fey) there is again no upgrade options? Oh well I guess I can buy the whole pack again with sale price which wasn't possible last time. Still not getting Myth Drannor though if there is no upgrade options during sales in future.

Every expansion since Saltmarsh has an upgrade option (and the upgrades are also discounted). I may be wrong, but AFAIK the earlier expansions (Feywild, Sharn, Ravenloft, etc.) just weren't developed in a way that supports the upgrade system. They also don't have bundle redemption NPCs in game (the stuff is just dumped in your inventory) which may be related.

Nevermind, after the payment options I can finally see the upgrade price. It wasn't showing them before on store page. Maybe a browser cache thing.

I can't upgrade Saltmarsh now it's discounted because I own the base edition? Only see buy options. And yes I logged in.
Under the 'Buy Now' button for the Collector's or Ultimate bundle should be upgrade prices. When I clicked on buy, it gave me the appropriate upgrade price based on what I already own.

The main issue with the current implementation of our Isle of Dread bundles is the inclusion of the Otto's Boxes in them. It limits what kind of discount we can provide on it at the moment, especially if Otto's Boxes are available as part of the sales period. We intend to do the work to re-make these bundles in the future.
Well I hope you get the new IoD bundles without Ottos up for Christmas sales then. Thank you for confirmation.

So, if I have already purchased a Feywild bundle, there is still no way to upgrade it? Marketplace says that I have already purchased it when I try to buy the ultimate. This is true because I did buy the standard back in the day. I guess I was expecting to be able to upgrade that one too.

I must confess that I don't understand this reasoning. If I recall correctly, the expansion boxes are bound, so they couldn't be passed between accounts. That means only one box per account since you can only buy the xpack once. And anyway, the people who wait years to buy an xpack on sale are not the people who buy otto boxes usually, so sales of boxes wouldn't be diminished either.

I don't care, I have the ultimate bundle, but those boxes were introduced as a lure to buy the xpack. I don't think being so stingy is a good strategy. You need to put something attractive in there for people to buy from you. You know you've lost VIP subscriptions because you now require VIPs to buy one xpack per year in addition to the subscription, and you refuse to give value to the subscription... do you really expect people to buy without getting adequate in return? Some people will, but people with Stockholm syndrome are limited.

Do you want to increase MD sales? Fix the extreme rarity of the rare tables, which makes many people not want to buy the xpack.

Still waiting on the wish for eladrin memories and bottle of mist to be in store too. I'm not the only one who wants to give you money for these things either.

There is a problem with people buying points through Steam in other currency. Prices that are listed in the store as being in CAD are being charged to the account in USD. I posted about it in the Discord but thought I'd post about it here, too.

For example, when I select the $46.99 CAD bundle of points, it shows up on Steam as a $46.99 USD purchase, and says it's going to charge my account $74.06 CAD. That is a very big difference.

I misread the Double Bonus Points Plus, and assumed it was basically triple points the way it was worded. Not false advertisement, but was slightly disappointed with myself to assume that they'd release anything more than Double Bonus Points.

The mentality of worrying about people getting 1 Ottos box in a bundle, kills what they can offer on sale? This type reasoning sums up alot.

Full disclosure, I have no intention of spending another dollar on this game, until it is playable. So, I don't have a dog in this fight.

I just don't get it. 1 ottos box with a whole black market of people on sites like the vault trying to dump them for dollar each before the game goes under??

So out of touch with reality.

Hey everyone, I just need to get this off my chest.

Maybe I’m wrong, but it feels like DDO doesn’t offer anything meaningful for long-time players who’ve been around since the old days, whether it’s events, Black Friday deals, or even the Year of the Dragon.

Isn’t there any concept of a 'Thank You Sale' or 'Appreciation Event' in this game to say, 'Thanks for playing, everyone'?

I'd expect those mostly around the anniversary event, and for Black Friday to be trying to bring in people who are about to have some free time and disposable income over the holidays.

But I guess I wouldn't be trying to bring in new people either. With the lag as bad it's been, they'd likely leave with a bad taste in their mouths before they got to "the good part"

The Otto Box w/Ultimate Expansion is 1/account and thus not directly competing with the ad-hoc boxes, this assertion does not pas the sniff test.
It's the same reasoning they used for the gold rolls. According to them, those gold rolls that brought in a good spike in signups were financially irresponsible because they were taking away from store sales. It's the same reasoning they used for removing old xpack bundles from the store because they had items (like learning tomes and store points or a 2 month VIP code) that were taking away from store sales.

It's not surprising. They don't seem to understand the concept of attracting sales with good deals. Whoever is in charge of their marketing should go take a marketing 101 course. Expecting people to buy from you without offering anything substantial is not a good long term strategy. Sooner or later people get tired or feel cheated.

I was expecting this anyway, and I've already spent money elsewhere (SSG is too late! Tempting deals elsewhere much sooner!), so I feel good ^^

People already feel tired and cheated because the servers move slower than my grandpa on cocaine. I haven't, and probably won't, spend a single penny on this game much longer. I am sick and tired of not being able to move, why bother?
