It would be nice if they thought like that, but the very first thing I noticed when I open this thread was that the black globe was the saga reward for the new expansion, so this entire thing doesn't exist for most of us for at least 6 months. I guess you are right that we could help with finding some of the globes, but whatever they are for will have nothing to do with us until next year, so this really isn't an event for those of us without the expansion. It will be fun to read about on the forums, but it's not something I expect to participate in within the game.

It's possible that the people who assumed that the first clue in the black globe's description is self-referential are correct, meaning there are only five globes in total; if so, the real question is what six to three refers to. Steelstar's comment "if they exist at all" might be a hint that this is the case.

Well, we know that 3 of the globes (Pink Blue Gray) combined to make the bottom half:
Nobody knows what combination makes the top half other than the devs currently. Maybe it only requires the black and green globes? Or black, green, and an extra pink?
I started with black plus other color combos, so if it was black/green/pink I would've made the top half already. But anyone can grab the 5 known globes and try combos for themselves if they think there's some trick being missed.
You yourself have exhausted almost every quest with any ooze of interest in it, and "Delve within the deepest dark" can be interpreted as running the new saga. The remaining black & green I have don't combine nor do black/green/bottom. So there's another piece missing that's needed to combine with black/green; logically it's a 6th globe. Sure, it could be some other random item, but unless someone finds some else that goes in the machine to combine, I'll assume it's another color globe.

Try putting a muckbane or any item you think might work in the fetid cauldron. If it's item it'll take, you'll get this message:

I don't recall. The chasm in the Sschin wilderness has some text like that, but many seem to think that since the four globes that have been found are in free/premium content, then x-packs are off limits.
I would guess that if another item was needed, it would have been required to find the others.
