I get the OPs point though. Having a fixed pinned link would be helpful for folks who want to check some archive threads. ?

It is fairly easy to access the old forums, true, but my issue is that when I search for something on Google links that go to the old forums redirect to a Daybreak maintenance page. Old forum links all look like:

I think the new forums are better designed and have a better all around look and feel. PLayers need to grasp the change and add new or updated content.

How to get links to the old forum to load:
Take the link to the old forum and replace the www.ddo.com or forums.ddo.com portion at the beginning of the link with forums-old.ddo.com.
Original link part:
Replace with:
For example:
Old link - https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/502929-Highest-sneak-attack-damage
New link - https://forums-old.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/502929-Highest-sneak-attack-damage

Also of note is that some URLs/links are encoded for a Javascript format, not plain text (i.e. they look something like this https%3A%2F%2Fforums.ddo.com). There are sites that will decode these type of URLs to remove the non-plain-text encoding. Search for "url decoder". Here's the one I use: https://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder/

First off, I don't really like the new forums. I don't think they do anything I care about that the old one didn't lol. Not to mention numerous hiccups and speedbumps for no reason. It came with pretty much everything I don't want turned on by default (yes please send me 50 alerts a day), and there's a big distracting DDO background pic.
The whole thing just reminds me of dealing with chat windows when you make a new character. The main chat has 5 zillion things on, such as loot, general, dm, pm, party chat, etc. Nothing's the right size, none of the tabs are what you want, and it's a giant pain in the ass to redo it all.
Second, it's not a matter of people needing to add new content. There are a ton of old posts, such as builds, suggestions, hey lynnabel, etc. that should be added to the new one. And instead of writing up a whole new one, it's easier to just link to the old one, or copy/paste it at least. There have been a ton of newbies on the discord looking for build ideas.
The maintenance page is very misleading, the page should rather
- show something more kind, like, did you mean this: whatever-"old"
or
- 'test' the link for modification and redirect to the old forums.
It's a bad idea, as a permanent fix to put a stickied link in the new forums, temporarily it's ok. How on earth is someone supposed to "know" to look at a stickied link in a new forum to fix links to the old forums when they hit the maintenance page via a search engine link. I'm sure 99% of searches right now direct to the broken maintenance page.
But, I'm sure Cordovan and Co. know this already... Make some time Cordovan

The nice thing is we can agree to disagree.
1) I like the functionality and look of the new forums alot. Much more than the old forums.
2) I get that you prefer to have the old content uploaded, I just don't care about it.

The "edit the link" trick is good for first level access. I have been doing this.. But, many forum posts used the links within their bodies to refer to other posts.
It would have been nice to have some automated way to easily access the entire body of the old forum.
Yeah, me being lazy. I have always tried to use software to fix problems.

I feel the same way.
We just have to manually right click, copy and paste the url, then edit the url each time to get the "forums-old' posts to work. The again manually right click, copy and past the links with-in and edit them to "forums-old.ddo.com" to get them to work.
