Bubble'din, SWF Support DPS for Reaper Raiding and R10 Questing

this build sucks.

all it does is be able to solo when needed and be the last dps standing.

if you run it you will get random pugs sending you tells to come save their r10s

its not worth the social aggravation to run this!

ok being serious this is a good build. its not near the top dps but its hella survivable.

a quibble i have though is the level 34 feat - you can get the same hp from a set.

but thats minor

Do you by chance have a video of this build in action?
Went through the few videos I have and unfortunately none of them were from the "completed" state of the build. What specifically were you hoping to see from a video?

Yeah it's certainly not a solo build nor meant to be the tanky dps, I do mention in an earlier comment that barbs/rogues/monks/wolves/bears would be better for that with their dodge and temp hp. This is a support dps meant to increase the defenses of the tank/healer and the dps of the rest of the group with some other perks like LoHs etc.

If someone has put enough hours into the game to get the rare hp set augment then I would assume they have enough knowledge of the game to also make an appropriate gearset and change the level 34 feat themselves. I don't want to post a stars aligned MD gearset and build that assumes all the rare gear has been acquired just to have a rabid fox comment and say my gearset is unattainable.

Nothing exciting but took a short vid of a R1 skellies during raid night. Shows some of the support side of the build better than pugging R10s would in my opinion. Next time I'm on the build I'll definitely take the dps hit and grab spring attack though.

Forgot to record audio

Haters going to hate. Quite frankly, if people don't like the build, they should build there own instead of being toxic.
That being said, I saw 110k crit, thats sexy. Im doing a line of SWF builds to try out before my final life, and this one is on the top of the list. :)

Nah there's no toxicity, I know Hobgoblin from the discord and he even mentioned he was sarcastic in his post. I just wanted to reiterate the focus of the build because support DPS is an unfamiliar role for most. This build's tanky, but it won't fulfill the role of a tanky dps as well as a tanky dps would. I used to duo with a monk and things went very smoothly with me shielding/healing him with the aggro.

Adrenaline+Boulder's is a really fun combo, this build sacrifices some dps in areas like gearing and the lack of rage+power attack due to not being able to cast bubbles while raged but I'm happy with the damage output it can maintain while bringing support.

I was being snarky tbh

more saying the problem with build is that it's too fun

This is the current build I've been playing for a few months. I wanted a support DPS for pushing raids but this build is well rounded enough that it's been great for R10 questing in between raids as well. This build alone can increase the group's physical damage by 96% with the combination of Crusade, Champion of Good, Dust, Ooze, and Vulnerability all while still providing significant personal DPS.

U69 Update: Made a few updates to the build that covered the big changes. Haven't made a new gearset for this yet.
TLDR: Pair adrenaline with Boulder's Might or Fast n Furious now and when those are on cooldown, use Divine Sacrifice. Exalted Smite is better used as a prebuff on a normal attack.

The thing I love about this build is that it really feels like a Paladin should.
  • It buffs the party's damage with Crusade and Champion of Good
  • Can protect allies with radiant forcefields (Bubbles)
  • Heal others with LoHs, greater restorations and Divine Smiting
  • Solid defenses
  • Both AOE and single target damage by switching axes
  • Burst damage with adrenaline Smites
  • Mass Rez with T5 DC's Beckon Divinity
  • Very high passive social skills for intimidating/bluffing/diplomacy
Here's the link to the build. Little too lengthy to post on forums and I prefer Google Doc formatting.

Disclaimer; this is a reaper endgame focused build, not a leveling build. Many key components of this build do not even work until the toon is level capped. Due to being a support DPS and the weapon swapping there are a lot of things to micromanage to make the most of this build. Providing support on a DPS means that you need to be looking at the party's HP bars and predicting their incoming damage while still managing your DPS and buff rotations. I have a little over 40 abilities/items hotkey'd that I regularly use and that's not even counting numbers 6-0 because they're too far for me to quickly hit. I'm not saying that it's necessary to micromanage everything to play this build, but rather that this build will continue to reward you for each increase in your gameplay.

That said, it all makes this build very engaging and rewarding to play. You never feel helpless in challenging situations, you can pull aggro and tank when necessary, can easily heal and restore others, can add defenses to whoever needs it and can even self heal when necessary and resurrect the whole party if things completely go sideways.

Also, my character is fairly far from 3X completionist. This build relies much more on gearing and build familiarity than it does on past lives. I even included a first lifer version of the AP splits at the end.
Do you think this build would work with 15/5 pally/dl?

You could force it to work but it breaks a lot of original synergy and I'd question what your goals are. I haven't played for maybe a year so I'm not sure what the gearing/questing/raiding meta is right now but off the top of my head you would be more inclined to go for Bswords due to the +2 mult which I think I was already about to make the switch to due to Patience. The opportunity cost of not raging in order to cast radiant forcefield on demand would be greater as a DL, and you would lose the vast majority of your smite regeneration by missing out on divine retribution so the uptime on Crusade would suffer.

Exalted smite seems like it's been yet again proxy nerfed by the buffs to cleave/gcleave becoming +1/+1 +20% and +1/+2 +40% with a 5s cooldown which I believe puts cleave on par with Esmite and gcleave definitely becoming stronger, all without charges. So that brings further opportunity cost by going precision over power attack due to not raging.

You would definitely gain DPS/CC/Mobility which the last two were big weaknesses of the build, just at the cost of support. AP wise it just depends on how much racial AP you have and if you can gain the doublestrike lost from VKF elsewhere which is probably manageable depending on gear/destiny points.

Check out Lom's 15/5 on his repository for ideas on the split.
