Was recently running Amber Temple r1 and ran across a Pandemonium (pretty sure this was the type) Champion Ghost my Paladin simply could not hit. Still running level 5 gear so no True Seeing effects on the pally atm (though I did have ethereal from a Duskbone Ring) and ran across this very interesting mechanic.
What do I mean? I mean after missing a bunch I started to count before I got to 45 non-hits in a row before I had to retreat and heal. I then returned and 50 times in a row again were not a hit. I literally never scored a single hit in well over 100 swings (+Hit was around mid-90s so plenty to hit on non-1s). Bard friend had to come in and kill it with spells.
I just want to state clearly this was not a "seems like a lot of misses" situation. This was a complete and total 100% incapability of being hit by melee attacks (without TS).
Just to be clear, I wasn't getting "Miss" messages at all, I was getting, I believe exclusively, "Blurry" messages, though it's possible a handful of "Dodge" messages were in there that I didn't take note of.
Now, in the scheme of things this isn't a huge issue, TS almost certainly bypasses the problem entirely, and in the future I can update my gear at 10 or bring scrolls.
But it is still something that should be looked at and if possible addressed. I can't imagine this is a good experience for new players.
