Bug Report: The Spring Equinox disables its own and other Alchemical Attunement effects

Hello,

I believe I've found a bug with the item The Spring Equinox.

When I equip it, my Alchemical Earth Attunement effect from other gear stops working. Additionally, the item's own Alchemical Air Attunement and the expected Alchemical Fire Attunement effects never seem to trigger.

To test this, I tried equipping only The Spring Equinox, and none of the effects proced.

For comparison, when I equip only the Bound Elemental Ring of Lightning, its Acid, Fire, and Electric effects all trigger correctly.

This suggests the issue is specific to The Spring Equinox.

Thank you.

1. What is the source of your Alchemical Earth Attunement effect?
2. Where are you obtaining the Alchemical Fire Attunement effect from?

Alchemical runearm for the acid dot I believe

I use the same runearm and spring equinox too can test it after work. (different build tho)

Toven's Prototype and Bound Elemental Ring of Flames
Thank you.

As Zvdegor has mentioned they have something similar and can have a look, I will let them look into it first as it'll be quicker than me setting up my toons to test it. But if required I can do so after if perhaps Zvdegors results are inconclusive (may be, may not be, etc) and not an assured answer.

I did manage to do one quick test with the Spring Equinox on its own, and its effects did proc; the Electrical damage and the Exhaustion effects proc'd without issue. However, this was done on a melee. There may be a difference when done via ranged. Hopefully this will help Zvdegor track the issue down more easily.

Had some time and tested the Spring Equinox on its own and I think I found the problem.

As mentioned above, it does work, when using melee attacks; Handwraps, Swords, etc.

But the moment you utilise any ranged weaponry (Throwing Dagger in my case, Crossbow in yours), it will not trigger the Alchemical Air electrical damage. The Exhaustion effect works fine. But the Alchemical Air does not.

This suggests that yes the Spring Equinox has a problem, but it's more that the effect is only keyed to work with melee attacks. And not with any ranged attacks.

In theory, now we have this tracked down, it should be a quick fix for the Devs to implement.

:: edit ::
I have not checked if any of the other Rings from Myth Drannor also has this problem or not yet. It could just be a one off case, or it could impact on all of them. Will check later when I have more time if no one else has had a look.

I know, I meant if you went and did more tests before I got around to doing more looking into things.

So in OP's case, yes it disables the others (Alchemical Earth/Fire, etc) likely because the effect on the Equinox (melee) has a higher priority on the effects list and thus in terms of effects the code thinks the superior version takes place and that is the one on the Equinox and thus none of the other ones work whilst it is equipped.

It may possibly work by relogging and changing the order of which effect was last applied (like the Spell Absorption order issue). More testing is needed for that. But the key thing is the Devs should be able to do a quick fix for this (and any of the other MD Seasons Rings).

All these tests were done using ranged attacks
  • Equinox + Ring of Flames: The Fire procs do work.
  • Equinox + Ring of Frost: The Ice procs do work.
  • Equinox + Ring of Lightning: The Electric procs do work.
  • Equinox + Toven's Prototype: Equinox only procs if Toven's Prototype (the Runearm) is equipped before it. The order of equipping seems to matter here.
  • Only Equinox : No elemental procs activate at all. It does nothing.
  • Ring of Lightning + Toven's Prototype: Both items' procs work fine.
  • Ring of Lightning + Toven's Prototype + Ring of Frost: All three items' procs work fine.
