There is some bug that imbues such as frenzy or bleed the weak don't apply to throwing hammers but do apply to longbows.

Equip throwing hammer. Activate bleed the weak dark hunter imbue or frenzy imbue from berserker barbarian. Attack something= no imbue damage. Equip longbow. Attack same target= imbue damage. Equip random melee weapon. Attack same target=imbue damage.

Paladin's imbues worked only with favored weapons. Throwing hammers is favored weapon for your build?

Frenzy only works with melee weapons, so that explains why it didn' work in your case. I also tested if it works on a longbow like you claimed, and it doesn't, so that must have simply been a communication error. The takeaway being that the tooltip of Frenzy should mention that it only works on melee weapons.

I just tested all missile/thrown weapons with Bloodsong (the Tiefling Scoundrel imbue, which is similar in function to the Dark Hunter's Bleed the Weak) and it worked as expected. I don't have a Dark Hunter on hand right now, but I urge you to test again, with all 3 types of weapons (throwing/missile/melee). Make sure you're not hitting something that's immune to bleeding damage.

Ok I did a lot of further testing prompted by your post. It turns out that you are right AND I am not crazy. Apparently the imbue wasn't working because I was holding a freezing ice shield on my off hand. If you have the hammer on it's own or with any non-freezing ice shield, it works fine.
I gotta test now with a melee weapon and the freezing ice shield...

Tested Bloodsong with a Freezing Ice Guard shield equipped, both with a melee weapon and a throwing hammer, and it worked as expected.

Not freezing ice guard, freezing ice. Different thing! I wonder if the freezing ice robe from challenges also blocks it.

I am not aware of ANY shields with Freezing Ice. Which one did you use?

No named ones but random shields drop with either freezing ice or freezing ice guard. Freezing ice on my barbarian tanks has been a staple since hardcore season 3 and used them all the way season 4 season five season 6 season 7 season 8 and this season.
Edit: they have the exact same name so you have to examine the items in the auction house to see which one is freezing ice or freezing ice guard. They are both named freezing ice

Huh, always thought these randomgen shields can only have Freezing Ice Guard. Good to know. Will try again with a Freezing Ice shield.
