4 of my task bar numbers are blacked out including the "search" feature. i have put in 3 trouble tickets since nov15 but no response except to acknowledge them received. i was going to upgrade but not if there is no support. i saw in chat someone else with same problem. is there a fix?

Have you tried deleting your ddo.keymap in ddo folder in documents? Or rather renaming it. When you log in it should repopulate with a fresh version. If that doesn't work there is the option to repair game data on the log in screen. Up in the right hand corner click the carrot and select option. The repair window will pop up.
