Can someone explain why the fatesinger destiny mantle does so little damage ?

The fatesinger destiny mantle says it does d6+6 sonic damage x character level x sonic spell power.

I have 1100 sonic spell power (84% crit chance / 92% crit damage)

So d6+6 x 32(character level) x 12 (1100 sonic spell power) = approximately 4000 non-crit and almost 12000 on a crit before debuff.

So why does it only do around 1600 damage and never crits ? Even non-crit should be 4000+. Is it just a bug ?

Can anyone say ?

Thank you 'I don't Like gimps'.

Yes I just tested draconic's d6+6 and primal's d6+6 and you're right. They are doing the correct numbers. So presumably fatesinger's mantle is bugged doing less than half damage and always non-crit.

Anyone else have any thoughts ?

Perhaps a dev could weigh in to confirm if we can get this fixed ?

Hi RayRay, thank you for your response.

Yeah I put in a bug report, but my experience with bug reports is that I haven't seen fixes even over several years. I love DDO. I've been playing since 2006 and I'm still playing now. I respect SSG and the devs in general. It's just the bug report aspect.

For example about 5 years ago(?) there was a destiny pass and we got that 10force spell power and 10universal spell power in t5 shiradi which currently is called Feywild Attunement. I was playing a force specced warlock and noticed it wasn't giving the spell power. So I put in a bug report, got the automated response; and it was fixed 2 or 3 years later. That's a long time.

This fatesinger mantle bug is already a couple of years old and is pretty central to anyone using the Fatesinger destiny mantle. So I'm just hoping I can get some feedback from a dev about what's happening.

Again, thank you for the response, RayRay. Appreciated.

On my bard i was using fatesinger mantle for a bit but it didn't seem to be doing much. Never actually looked at numbers though. I ended up using the draconic mantle mainly for the DoT it adds every 5 secs. Though the 2 second cooldown on strike a chord means i never use the epic strike in draconic.

I can do things others can't...
Is the main difference between the talked about Mantles not that one is AOE (unlimited targets in range) vs one target?

Ine is AOE (Fatesinger) and thus if used in an AOE fashion (non caster usually) it's capable to attacking far more than what the other Mantles are able to do (which is usually singular targets only, and in an AOE effect, one target which may not even be the one you were targetting in the first place gets the bonus damage).

If the Fatesinger Mantle did the same amount of damage as the others, it'll be overwhelmingly more powerful when utilised in the tank/unhittable fashion and dragging everything around them. So I think this was a design choice by the Devs at the time.

Fatesinger mantle suffers from the problem of range. If I cast a spell at an enemy that is very far away, the mantle will proc but do no damage. Same with ranged attacks.

Thank you Jing,

As you say, being an aoe is an advantage for sure. I agree. But centered on self is a disadvantage as is the 10second cd. For example you've mentioned Draconic. Draco with t3 is a 2second cd.

I'd estimate half my procs hit nothing because I'm out of range. This isn't a problem for other destines.

Also it's difficult for the specialized tank to get the big caster spell power, and difficult for the big spell power casters to be in close range. I do appreciate the point though. If it is WAI as you say then perhaps we can change the description which has been up for a long time.

I think it best if we can get a dev to weigh in on what is actually going on. Is it WAI or not ?

Thank you for your response Kmoustakas :) It's appreciated.

I agree 100%. As I mentioned to Jing, I'd estimate about half of my mantle procs hit nothing because of range.

The 10sec cd is also a factor.

Draco is a 2second cd, and primal has 3 separate procs all with a 5second cd effectively making it similar to draco.

1) 2 second cd vs 10second cd is a 5x difference already compensating for the aoe.
2) Fatesinger is doing roughly 40%(?) of a standard non crit.
3) Fatesinger is exclusively non-crit,
4) Fatesinger is often hitting nothing because of range.

On the plus side are the temp hps, but again the temp hps from Draco's 'scales of the dragon' or Primal's 'shard storm' are much bigger.

In any case it's very low damage.

Let's hope we can attract a dev in to comment on what exactly is happening: Perhaps bugged ? or if WAI and we can at least change the description in game.

Thank you again for your reply, Kmoustakas.

Are there any devs out there who can weigh in on whether the Fatesinger mantle is WAI ? If so we can perhaps change the in game description which stats d6+6 damage per character lvl. If not perhaps let us know what the plan is for a fix ?

Hey Krishna, do you think it were possible that the damage you typically see may be the result that the Fatesinger Mantle damage doesn't scale at all with sonic spell power whatsoever? Perhaps with another spellpower (oops?) or even the programmed logic is false [no way!] and its scaling to 200% melee power by default instead? Look at your numbers/stats and let us know what you can deduce. Thanks!

EDIT maybe another spell power you have in range of 400 ish with low crit %?

I honestly haven't paid attention to it. When game worlds are back up I will do some testing and see what I can find out.
