Can we get some acknowledgement from the devs about account hacks and improper logins? This is serious, and not something to 'wall of silence' us for.

yeah to admit there's a problem means you can be held responsible, so just clam up.
Pretty much! My inner cynic reads this as a CYA thing. We as players are heavily invested in the game, and yet, we are not shareholders. They do not answer to us and yet they need to deal/handle us occasionally so the spice continues to flow. 😕

Good thing I launch from steam, you need to double login to make purchases regarding that, so my precious credit card is safe!

Also, good thing I'm in the habbit of using my otto's boxes right after buying them! Bloody hackers can't do ****!

This is serious and the usual wall of silence will not work. People are losing money, having accounts compromised, and characters deleted.

It's been happening much more frequently since the 64 bit transfer.

You want some good will and to rebuild some trust with the community ? DO SOMETHING.
Plat scammers are back to. watch out.

Something I don't get is that...this seems to be a unique problem to this game. I've never heard about this on any other game, or any other platform that requires an account. How did they manage to figure this out?

What would be amazing is an actual response from the dev's that this is being looked into. The utter lack of professionalism drives away more players than anything else.

I'm astounded by the lack of pride in their work, and how they continue to enable fraud. They _KNOW_ and do nothing.

This really is as bad as it gets. Players can lose their characters, accounts, and be defrauded for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

SSGs response? Complete and utter silence. This is deplorable.

The lack of professionalism and utter absence of care is the biggest red flag for this games continuance. Other old school games have adjusted and are growing. DDO? We have hacked accounts, duped items, exploiters, literal fraud ... and silence and inaction from DDO.

This is negligent. And not worth paying a penny into until addressed.

At what point does negligence become permission? SSG is literally enabling this behavior and doing nothing to address it.

Never would have had these issues on my bingo card for 64 bit transfer snafu's.

It’s possible they can’t say anything right now for liability reasons.

I’m not a legal expert, nor do I know what goes on behind closed doors, but it’s possible SSG is formulating a response to this that protects them from legal wrongdoing.

You want to possibly force action, you can try to go above SSG’s heads to Daybreak directly, or EG7 at the very top of the corporate structure, but I don’t know if that would amount to anything.

(At last check, the CEO of Daybreak is the acting CEO of EG7, so take from that what you will.)

The legal liability perspective has merit, though I'm not sure why it would prevent all communication.

"We are aware of issues involving account security and are looking into this. Measures are being implemented to identify and track malicious activity."

And how about customer service and their utterly lacking responses?

The common response seems to be "Its your fault your account was hacked because you have malware on your computer." It's utter nonsense.

I hope every single person who has had this happen to them does what Rabid suggested, files a police report, refunds their accounts, and sends it to daybreaks legal team. Even if Daybreak files and is forced to refute the chargeback, that's money and labor they are losing. If legal sees what is happening, maybe they will take action to prevent fraud.

There are a host of other actions SSG could take. If they are that concerned about legal liability, they need to stop enabling fraud.

They know, and their negligence is allowing this to continue. At what point does their inaction become criminally negligent?

USA may not have the strong laws to address this, EU does.

It's sad to see a game with this much potential and awesome get taken down by an apathetic dev team.

If We are being Stone walled, You know what that would mean? SSG is Totally guilty.

Honestly, at this point, I think getting hacked would be an easy way to finally leave this game behind for good.
So I´m not sure if I would even be angry about it.

Well I got the response
"Unfortunately, we’re not able to recover any coins or items that were lost. Please remember that keeping your account secure is the player’s responsibility"

So thier lack of security is my fault, you see the exact time whoever used my account was on as thats when the store was used.
I believe that because I load money through steam is the only reason why more points were not loaded I really regret buying becuase of double points - unless you use them straight away I would not do that.
Its a shame as I have a great group of friends I play with and I was happy to support the game with purchases.
Now however all the expenditure will stop, i'll continue to play with friends but no more spending till something is done.
I expect I will move on before that happens tho

Just reply that you're a regular on the forums, are well versed in their lack of security and are aware of the bug where people sign into their own account but wind up in someone elses's. If they don't help you out, you'll do a chargeback and get your money that way. See what they say.

Not the approach I want to take but it is tempting.

You really think they will talk about while they are investigating? No company did ever. You're off your rocker.

And not the approach I usually advocate for. I warn everyone here they are better off trying to fix these issues with SSG before initiating a chargeback. But there are times where showing your knowledge and or flat out threatening them is the best move.
