I could see that being a problem for a barb, stand in front of the crystal and cleave-cleave-cleave ... failed? But they never reached it!I know most everyone was thankful for one of the earlier changes where the crystal could no longer be destroyed by friendly fire... but I kinda miss it lol. Taught me positioning and self control. But I understand that I'm a weirdo super freak for that.![]()
well, we do walk into one of the wilderness quests and learn that it is where warforged were created. So yeah it is a big downgrade from creating sentient machines to a little house heater.Frankly, this change makes little sense. Korthos is a forgotten village on a small island in the middle of nowhere. How could they have preserved such technology ? It made perfect sense that they would have retained the crystal, an artifact of bygone times, but it was just a standalone thing, without the machines the islanders couldn't build themselves.
Yes, it was a long time ago. Now everything is destroyed. We see these ruins ourselves.well, we do walk into one of the wilderness quests and learn that it is where warforged were created. So yeah it is a big downgrade from creating sentient machines to a little house heater.
You have a point here because the amount of people who died to needle blights running to the quests on hardcore was joyfully high and we always had a laugh about it.Sorry but hard disagree. Keep on the Borderlands is orders of magnitude harder than Korthos and is a terrible starter area for brand new players. Goodish starter area for veterans though who dont even notice the difficulty spike.
edit watch the Josh Strife Hayes video on DDO to see why Korthos works as a starter area (introducing mechanics through emergent gameplay) things that we vets have long since forgotten are important and that KoTB assumes we already know.
DDO: TronBy that logic then all new quests should only feature wire frame work there by cutting down on the time spent on the art. . . . .
oh that's an effect that has existed since the Nature's Protector enhancement tree was added, that's your Killer Instinct stacks.I noticed a new visual, at least it is new to me, when leveling on the bear, I am now getting red stripes forming when I use maul. They linger and I have seen them stack up to 2/side. If this was mentioned in the release notes, my apologies, I am notorious for skimming such blerbs.
I ran it yesterday and didn't notice it. If not for the description of the change, I'd still not have noticed. My friends and I were all shocked to see this yesterday. It's a small change, but it was all we could talk about
Heh. I'd like to see that flipped; ie. "it's time for Korthos to expand" and invade the harbor. Why? The harbor is uh harboring kobolds, nasty evil vermin with a secret dragon cult worshipping the Korthos dragon. It would be kinda fun to expand Korthos
To whichever Dev was watching my stream recently where I went on a bit of rant about how Korthos isn't a very good starter area and how the Cannith Crystal quest in particular made no sense whatsoever, thank you for doing a stealthy makeover of the quest. I love the new look where the crystal is now plugged into devices that would produce the heat thats keeping the village from freezing.

I still think that the Keep on the Borderlands (with some additions) would make for a far better quality starter area for the game, but this small graphical change greatly improves this quest.
Yeah I'm so glad they wasted time with this when there are plenty of bugs and problems that have been plaguing the game for multiple years. Truly, it does look better, but I get really irritated seeing things like this when they still haven't fixed so many well known bugs in the game.To whichever Dev was watching my stream recently where I went on a bit of rant about how Korthos isn't a very good starter area and how the Cannith Crystal quest in particular made no sense whatsoever, thank you for doing a stealthy makeover of the quest.
