Can't buy DDO points

If you wish to pursuit on recovering this account, we can give you a chance to re-purchase the item that was chargedback on a new account, and wait until the payment clears, then we can ban the new account (as form of payment) and re-open your primary account. The item that was charged back was:
Masterminds of Sharn Ultimate Edition, purchased 4 July, 2024 for $32.50

Thank you,
Customer Support
Standing Stone Games

The account suspension just happened and I wonder if I never tried to purchase another thing would they have shut me down. The charge back just happened maybe, I have no idea to be honest. No warning, no attempt to contact me to rectify the issue and I made 8 more purchases after the July one. Dropped another 800 or so between then and now. Frustrating is putting it mildly. I logged in yesterday, rolled daily dice, tried the purchase again and then logged for the day. Checked the ticket status this morning and that is when I found out that I was banned.

So for one FU**ING payment issue they suspended my account!!! I have more that I could say but it's honestly not worth it.

To add insult to injury, my sub runs until July of next year.
I'd be the last one to defend SSG's customer service levels, but it doesn't sound like the fault is entirely on them in this case.

It's fairly standard practice for digital subscription companies to auto-ban accounts that file chargebacks. SSG has no control over how your CC company handled your card issues.

It is possible the chargeback did not complete until recently. There are specific processes and timeframes that card issuers follow for chargebacks which gives both the customer and the merchant time to respond to and/or dispute any chargebacks.

It looks like SSG did offer you a way to fix the problem and get your account unbanned. Have you tried that? Has Sharn been active on your account up until today? If so, their proposed solution seems reasonable.

Regarding the purchases made between July and now, if SSG's proposed solution isn't acceptable to you and they can't/won't consider any other solutions to get the account unbanned, I guess you could always file chargeback claims for the additional purchases, too.

I do see what you are saying Kimbere and I don't disagree, but is also doesn't seem like the most nicest Customer Service approach that could have been done for the customer. Ban him first, then give him an option to come back. I guess it is easier for them, no doubt.

I would not normally suggest chargebacks on services you want to keep, buuut... if you're not going to try and recover it perhaps a no-longer-usable sub is an exception.

@Killevermore one possibility is to message @Cordovan and see if maybe he can kick something up the chain and see if there's a better solution to your problem. You should be able to message him directly through the forums, or if you're in the DDO discord send a message there. There's no guarantees anything can be done, but it's worth a shot.

SSG has made a fool proof plan for failure. Another loyal, paying customer bites the dust b/c of horrid customer service and corporate policy.

Suspending an account is normal for SSG when content is charged back to a credit card. When I purchased Feywild, it was far below what I had hoped for and only played two quests. Having lived in central florida, the disney theme to the pack is revolting. I immediately wanted to refund it.

Was told that if I did, I'd get banned. If someone hadn't of told me about the ban-response to chargebacks, I'd be in your shoes.

So, I've just not spent another dollar on this game since then. About to hit a month since my last login. Used to play almost daily and contribute financially with pleasure. Now, I just do other stuff. For all the reasons you are experiencing, my morale crashed.

Totally understand your frustration Kill, and wish the best for you. Hope this all gets worked out for you. Maybe this will be a wakeup call.

Probably not. Regular playing population aggregated from all servers has dropped by ~500 in the past month per ddoaudit. A lot of disillusioned players leaving this game. For good reasons. And rather than listening, the players keep getting blamed and talked down to.

Much like how you were treated. Exceptionally unprofessional on their part.

FYI, customer service seems to be pretty hit or miss depending on who is working. Some CS are better than others. I've had requests denied that other players have had approved. There is ZERO CONSISTENCY and their CS is totally foobard.

Wow . . . I just looked at the population trends for the past year. I believe in the industry this is know as a "death spiral."

So SSG . . . you think this is the best time to piss us off? I hope your resumes are up to date.

TLDR: This game has 2000 active players daily. LOLz.

Cue For Whom the Bell Tolls:
“Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

Is there a For Whom the Bell Trolls rendition? HA!

Doom. Gloom. So when DDO does fail in 2057 or whatever it will be fun to read all the "SEE! I TOLD YOU!" threads. DDO has being "dead or dying" since I joined in 2010. Keep it up haters you are hilariously good reading. To the OP. Sorry for your hassle but this is on you. Not being aware of your financials is not DDO's fault.

Aren't you a pleasant person? And while I hope you are right, the data doesn't agree. And your presentation and attitude are horrid.

While you are laughing it up now, those of us who are vocal and wish for better change are just leaving people like you behind. We are sick of being ripped off and treated like crap. Then when saying something, someone like you comes along and has to crap on people for giving feedback.

Have fun finding PUGs when more people leave. PPL already complain about not finding players, and a declining player base helps how ?

Stixcking your head in the sand and mocking those who point this out helps how?

I'd really struggle to achieve your unique levels of intelligence.

Go ahead, argue. I know you will. People like you are predictable. Shoot me down. Mock me. Whatever.

Let's see how much further that population decline goes.
