Will f2p/premium who don't have the FREEDDO code still be able to access adventure packs om Cormyr or will they be limited to what they already have?

Your account retains whatever access to quest and expansion content you have. You do not need to be VIP to log onto Cormyr, however.

Ooo, I hadn't thought about that. That IS good low hanging fruit!
Yeah, i earned atleast 2k ddo points running my main toon on Cormyr and earned all five of the non skull lanterns. I am starting to work on skull lanterns now and will probably earn another 500 points doing those.

My boyfriend ran three toons splitting up which lanterns to run on each and he estimatated with monster manuals and favor and first time favor bonuses, he has netted atleast 4000 ddo points from the cormyr server. Thats alot of points to earn getting all ten lantern cosmetics.

Both of us agree the 6 durability per mist for reaper mists is kind of annoying, but the grind is the grind. Neither of us spent one penny on the new server, nor did the community of players we play with.

Since it has been stated that there are no transfers for this open period of access, either onto or off of Cormyr. What happens on April 16th if I am not a VIP? Do whatever characters I have on Cormyr just get locked up on that server with no access, unless I choose to get a VIP sub in the future?

Thats a great question, people dont want to be led into a trap.

They will remain on the server until your return. If in the future we had transfers, they'd still be there as well.

Hide the valuables!

I think this is kind or a neat idea though. If you want a new kitty or other stuff, create a toon, run the event, and then bug out (so almost... like an HC event...)

Anyone who needs a short-term home can hit me up for an add on our Guild if needed (see sig).

Wait … what happened to my exclusive VIP club? Now any of the unwashed masses can come in? What am I going to do with the smoking jacket and cigars I bought to enjoy the club?
Clearly the developers decided it wasn't really an exclusive VIP club, and now that I know I'll finish the event and go back to playing on Khyber.

If I had to guess the logic behind things, my assumption is this:
1) The latern event is meant to be a lead in to the next (mini)expanansion (based off the ravenloft domain that ended up in the adventure wilderness panel recently)

2) The lantern event was originally intended to be on every server (based off the producers letter last year) but in order to sell the 64-bit server tech they made the event Cormyr only. They also limited Cormyr to VIP to prevent overloading the 64-bit servers and making them look bad during the initial testing.

3) As a result of #2, a bunch of people haven't gotten the #1 lead-in. So SSG's options are either run the event on all servers or a period of time where Cormyr is f2p access. f2p access probably does a good job of helping to sell the 64-bit tech as successful and additional stress testing before rolling out the tech more widely.

I could be totally wrong about any of this; it's just what I've pieced together in my head for why things are they way they are.

#4 They want a ramp up for stress testing the Cormyr server more since they have done many fixes so far.

I was not about to go VIP to get to Cormyr.
I'm not about to go to Cormyr only to be locked out in a few months.

I simply don't see what I have to gain by doing so.
Even if I was offered a free character transfer to Cormyr, I'd see it as a way to potentially trap that character there, potentially never to be seen again.
If I was offered a free transfer to Cormyr and back, I *MIGHT* consider it. They hinted at transfers from 64-bit to 32-bit servers being an iffy proposition, so, no real hopes there.

Edit:
Hoping to go just to get some "new server" first time ddo points :D
THIS might be a reason I'll make a temporary visit.

I suspect some VIP peeps got their goodies and went back to their normal servers so maybe the population is thinner on Cormyr now? Could be a good time to offer this up so that the non-VIP's get a chance to play the Lanterns as well, + beat on the server some more, & give the non-VIP's a better look @ what the new 64bit servers will be like performance wise (now that they've pulled out some of the wrinkles).

Not that i 'm in the habit of taking weathervanes at their word by now, but does making yourselves seem dishonest and untrustworthy back and forth in succession never feel embarrassing?
