This will be interesting on multiple levels.
I am torn between this being a good move in the long run vs potentially SSG pulled a douche move and conned people into subscribing to get something they will later be able to get for free anyway. I subbed to get access to Cormyr to see what it was like, and to support the tech upgrade decision. But I feel a bit like I've been kicked in the goolies.
Some people only had active VIP to try Cormyr out, those of us that did can now cancel subs.
You COULD look at this as the next phase of stress test because a greater portion of the playerbase wont be VIP, so potentially a huge amount of players could now join which COULD dwarf even the higher end of what Cormyr had (sometimes between 500-700 if memor serves, but defo well over 500. I keep tabs on how many people are online when I logged in). It was busy for a short time, but now it is more or less just another almost-dead server.
On the flip side, you could also look at it as, some people were lured into subbing thinking that VIPs were only ever going to be on that server, thinking that the only way to get 64 bit as a non-VIP would be to wait til they open a 2nd 64 bitter. This was never said outright, but it was the vibe that SSG put out. "Cormyr will be VIP only" would have been interpreted exactly as it sounds.
For those non-VIPs who do log in after the 22nd I would advise that you do not get attached to your characters on Cormyr. If youre going to try it out, look up how the Lantern durability system works before you start and that way you can maximise farming efficiency. Resist the urge to get store upgrades for these first lifers. This just smells like a trap to get you logged in there, because while youre there, you will want creature comforts like tomes and astral shards for chest rerolls, do not be tricked into wasting your store points on anything on Cormyr. Not until they allow transfers to it, which they almost certainly will one day, despite anything said previously.
I am now officially done with Cormyr.
