Celestrata - These Store Items Should be Removed or Have Their Price Change

now that i know of the "Store Lady" (@Celestrata Bloodsong ), i am going to try to help her by pointing the many problematic items in the store. NOTE: limited items (boxes, etc) will NOT be included in this

Account
  • Shared bank
    • all the +10 shared bank upgrades should probably be cheaper, maybe scale up the cost per one of them or something? also the first 30 slots should be free to all people as its terrible being a new player and not having a shared bank
  • Character Slot
    • these should go on sale sometime
Character
  • Reincarnation
    • epic, blood, wood, and iconic hearts should all have a standardized cost of 1000. it makes no sense that they all cost different and they are waaaaaayyyy too expensive to be practical (even 1000 is too much, but still)
  • AP tomes
    • omg all these tomes are so overpriced. you cant make multiple characters unless you have ultimate expansions because these tomes are PER CHARACTER and so ungodly expensive. please reduce the prices of these tomes
  • Storage and Bags
    • all bags should be BTA, NO MORE BTC ANYTHING
      • all the quivers should be removed as these are totally worthless and can be gotten in game
  • Epic Destiny Tools
    • again, these are overpriced for what you get and prevent people from playing multiple toons. please reduce the cost
  • Mounts
    • reduce the cost of all the mounts (except special store exclusive ones) to 750 points as that is more expensive than KOTB but saves the grind
Xp and Loot Boosts
  • Guild XP
    • why are these pots more expensive than xp pots? that is totally backwards and the price of guild pots should be reduced
  • Loot Boosts
    • ssg needs to make clear what these pots due. treasure hunter weekend bonus for sure increases mythic/reaper drops (if you disagree with me, wake up and stop running casual difficulty) as well as some quest drops (augs, soul vessels, maybe rare items), but the treasure hunter pots dont seem to do anything. please ensure that they are the same bonus (if you say they are, i dont believe you)
Healing and Magic
  • Healing Items
    • these healing items all are terrible. all of them should have their cost reduced, cooldowns reduced, and healing massively increased. alternatively, just remove them
  • Attack spells
    • remove this useless garbage please, this is just a waste of space
  • Buffs
    • holy moly is this catagory a waste of space. the ONLY thing i think anyone has every used more than once was the lesser beholder crystal. remove all except the lesser beholder crystal (change name to beholder crystal as the current beholder crystal is worse than the lesser),
  • Curatives
    • remove all this crap as its just vender pots
  • Fast Travel
    • remove the haste pots, pendant of travel, and scrolls. also make there only be 1 kind of bracelet of friends
  • Food Items
    • lmao. why does this exist? remove them all
  • Undead Healing
    • remove these as these are just vender pots
Gear and Crafting
  • Augments
    • reduce the price of jewlers toolkits to the price of sentient kits/bonepickers. out of this whole list this is the one needed the most.
  • Questing Tools
    • remove all healing/repair kits, these are worthless
    • reduce the cost of bigbies hands by a ton. they are way overpriced for a feature found free in other mmos
    • remove the wand of detect secret doors as it doesnt do anything
    • massively reduce the price of the wish of inheritance. its silly how expensive this item is given how many btc items there are
  • Ammo
    • remove all this crap no one buys. get rid of this category
  • Armor
    • remove, this stuff is worse than ran gen
  • Crafting
    • remove the now defunct khyber dragonshard fragments
    • massively reduce the cost of cannith essences, at least 50%
    • remove the siberys dragonshard fragments
    • remove the dissolvers
  • Spell Componants
    • remove all spell comps besides omnispell stones/dust as the rest is vender stuff
  • Weapons
    • get... rid... of... all... of... them... now...

obviously this is not a complete list of all the changes needed, but this is a start. id be happy to hear your thoughts (especially Celestrata :) ) as the store could use some help. and i realize part of my suggestions would be cutting into SSG revenue but seriously, wish of inheritance and jewelers toolkits being sold for their prices are criminal given how needed they are. throw us a bone ssg, mmkay?

I'd actually argue that the restorative potions category should remain, despite the counterintuitive nature of it. Sure, they're just vendor pots, but sometimes you desperately need them if you're understocked. If anything, the price should be dropped immensely: I definitely have forgotten curse pots before and needed some immediately to finish Chains of Flame.

I much agree that there is a lot of completely unnecessary bloat in the store.

I know they will not agree with lowering the price of certain items even though I consider them much overpriced -

... But more importantly, the armor/weapon/food item/spell components other than Omnidust & Omnistones / healing/repair kits / buffs / curatives could simply be removed. All of it, or at least most of it. It is unnecessary bloat and I think it hurts the usability / search / load and even credibility of the store by being on display. "How much of it is this useless and I just don't know it?"

Totally agree. With everything above. There are so many overpriced items and unnecessary stuff in the DDO Store.

Jewelers tool kits should be the same price as Sentience tool kits. The current price makes no sense.

100% agree.

It is embarrassing and shameful for them to have +1 leather armors and such.

I can't imagine they sell much, and even if they do, eventually players will realize they've essentially been scammed. So...yea...great, you got that newb to spend their free harbor DDO points on a +1 sword...how does that help the business?

And the 99%+ of players who aren't totally new and realize the value of such items (zero)...they know the mere fact that they DO sell them is actually kinda disgusting.

Also, the Restoration Oil is a travesty at 150 DDOp.

With everything these days being BTA (or raid, BTC), it's ludicrous at having it at a third of a VIP's monthly stipend. Should be 1 DDOp tops, or have it removed to a general vendor for plat usage. For equivalency, the DDOp for the cheapest quest pack is 250 DDOp, and that's Catacombs.
not sure how I missed that, what category is it under? I want to add it to the OP

I definitely agree that the store could use a massive clean-up. There is so much stuff in there that serves only as a noobtrap and prices are all over the place.

I stopped using the store a long time ago because it's so cluttered and barely functional.

May want to re-read that, it removes all PERMANENT damage from an item, yes BTA items don't get this, but I have a few random loot gen that are really nice for leveling that are not bound, I have used one of these.

The "Bonus Items" for Borderlands and White Plume should be moved from Adventure Packs into Bundled Offers, considering they do not give any adventure pack.

Actually I don't need to re-read and edit that.

There is at least one BTA item in DDO that takes permanent damage, and that is the legacy TOEE armor. When TOEE came out in 2015, I reported the matter regularly, and it was finally confirmed by Lynnabel & Cocomajobo during a dev chat on Lammania around 2017-2018, as being on the noted bug list that they knew of the problem. However, it was also recommended to me at the time (by an SSG employee, yes I remember who), that I should use the Restoration Oil at 150 a time to fix the problem, only for it to rebreak again.

However, it's beside the point as we are not talking legacy items.

Again, it's ludicrous for it to cost that much now that we've moved away from randomgen loot, eg: metalline with pure good, and other legacy items that were unbound; where people didn't want to use a stone of change to make it BTC. Items are now BTA or BTC, and through that immune to permanent damage (99.999% of the time).

With that said, the market for these oils should be adjusted to reflect current situation that it's far too expensive at 150.

It's an item that rarely needs using. I have used 1 so far to repair an item, 150 points doesn't seem like a lot to me. I agree some items are overpriced and I would like them to get rid of the noob trap items, but I suspect they won't because it generates revenue.

Noob traps are bad PR for the game. Lets sour a new players experience by hoodwinking them in the store! There are so many other ways you can sour a new player than this (rare loot for example!)

It is literally a noob trap nowadays. That's why i was highlighting it alongside a quest pack, the lowest being 250 ddo.
