Chaosmancer for two iconic lives

I did Chaosmancer when it first came out and like most casters at the time it was meh at best. Now with the new piercing feats and a few changes I'm getting my last two lives out of the way so I'll have three leaps. There's not a lot of builds on the forums as of late if you check caster threads.

I'm planning on doing the typical air savant and switch to ice I guess since I've heard the chaosmancer part isn't as useful.

Any suggestion on feats from actual caster players or a fun build for sorc would be appreciated. I've been playing ranged and melee for the past few years so show me what you've got since everything in the class forums seems to be all over the place.

I’m running a chaosmancer Stormsinger at cap - required a +1 heart but the lightning immunity strip is a nice boon - although not as good as the savant or alchemist strips on spell cast/

This seems fun are you straight caster or melee mixed in?

Just run them as regular air/fire sorc. Only put enough points in wild mage to get rid of bad surges. Get sprint boost from falconry, tier 5 air savant for wind dance and immunity strip clicky, rest in fire savant. Spam chain/ball lightning, dbf, lightning and scorching ray for single target, both have also extended range.

I just wanted cleric past lives and the feystep might just be the best iconic past life. But it's just for leveling and TR at 30, nothing more. Also note I had a lot of racial points on that toon so the eladrin SLA was free.

Fire cleric as iconic at level 15 starts with all the slas. Scorching ray was good even in epic, firestorm is firestorm and the added eladrin sla+strip made leveling very fun. Actually I think cleric period is fun at 15-29. Used to be fun at level 5+ but then they killed holy smite etc. I'd do it before they nerf celestial bombardment though, that was my main spell.

PS sad bodily function noises were really cringe.

The thing that is most powerful about the chaosmancer is the immunity strip (and enough points to turn of the bad luck).
But you need to be a racial completionist or invest a lot of AP.
If you don't have that AP you might as well take the new feats and ignore all the racial stuff.

I can see where you'd need the racial completionist for this. Their tree is huge and expensive. I just now started racial because I got bored so I'll just try to knock it out super fast without worrying about farming gear or anything 😅

yep with 19 points you can grab the useful stuff from the tree
But other than that, I say ignore the chaos stuff and just go regular fire or air sorc. Only good thing in the wild mage tree are these +MCL, everything else is mediocre and not worth the ap when you have savant trees competing for it.
