Fully a month ago I tried to pack a character and the server (Ghallanda) crashed before the packing was completed. Possibly the packing crashed the server - I don't know.
Several hours later I was finally able to log back into the server to check on the status, and the character showed as packed. But it wasn't showing up in the transfer window. I tried packing other characters off that server and another, and that worked fine. They showed up in the transfer window, and I did complete a couple of those other transfers. But the main character is still stuck, showing as packed but not in the transfer window.
So of course, I opened a ticket, and I was told to do several things that didn't help at all. I did have to go back and forth with tech support explaining the situation before "Sir Michael" finally acknowledged the character "shows “Packed” on Ghallanda but isn’t appearing as transferable/unpackable on Cormyr. That indicates the pack flag completed on the source world, but the transfer package didn’t register cleanly during the crash." Eventually he told me the ticket would be put on hold while a system-wide issue is researched.
A week later, I got a message saying "We’ve made updates to improve the character transfer process from ghost worlds. Many players who previously saw an “Error” message or were unable to transfer their characters should now be able to complete the process successfully.....If your transfer still doesn’t work:
A small number of characters may still need manual assistance. If you continue to receive an error or your character does not appear in the transfer list, please update your existing support ticket (or create a new one) and include..."
Great, so I should be able to request manual assistance, right? No! When requesting the manual assistance I'm told, after several attempts to get the person who's looking at the ticket to understand the character is stuck and that I don't just need to wait for a transfer window (I was told no less than three times to just wait for the character to appear in the transfer window on its own!), "Customer Support cannot manually transfer, unpack, or force a character through the transfer system. The process is entirely automated"
Well, great. So my main character for the past TWENTY YEARS is GONE. And tech support can't even understand the request for it to be fixed.
