choice of weapons

Hi, I'll try my hand at a TWF Tempestranger for the first time in my next life, dex based.
Which weapons are good to level with?
(Example THF: Keen Weapon - > Blackrazor lvl 9 - > SoS lvl 10 - > SoS lvl 20 - > Blackrazor lvl 29)

I ran a dexbased tempest a few months ago. I used something like this:

Level 4: Brigand's Cutlass (mostly for the vorpal, if you don't have them, anything keen will do fine)

I more or less used versions of that until 20. I traded antique tokens in for mirages at level 10 for ghost touch weapons. Can go for Vulkoor's edge at level 14. Syranian weapons are also an option at level 15.

At level 20 I traded for two more mirages, and made them epic. These are very nice with extra crit range. An option is to go for drow scimis at 21 instead, with same crit range, better W, but lacking deception, seeker, ghost touch and the set bonus.
I used those until cap. I did not stay at cap with it, so I can only go by the advice I was given before starting out, that the Skeleton in the Closet scimis would be awesome combined with a nice gear set from out there.

For non-scimmy options in heroics;
Forgotten handaxe is a solid option from level 10+ & pair it with the sinister handaxe for the +2W while used offhand, they can tear stuff up pretty effectively.
Blade of the clouds (ML6) is a great shortsword, the cloudburst effect procs pretty often & is great for AoE damage.
Luck blade (ML8) has a better crit profile than regular shortswords plus 3 augment slots, a tasty option.

For the lower levels just go to the Keep on the Borderlands out of the gate, kill a few rares to get a couple of ingots. Then use them at the blacksmith to get some high damage damage weapons for the level. There are two kinds for each weapon type. One has ghostbane. You make also score some good item from the rares like a gentle descent cloak so you can check feather fall of the list for a bit. Unless you get an exceptional RNG item this gear will last for many levels.

Here's how my tempest levels, this is assuming I'm a ranger and not a Dark hunter that life.

level 1 - Korthos Great Axe
Level 3- 9 - Bow - I'm serious, even with Tempest feats AA is really strong at low levels. I'll switch to melee weapons later
10 - Barovia stuff
12 - Greensteel - I'm 100 years old an already have it, I wouldn't bother farming it otherwise
14 - Vulkor's Edge Scimitars - these things are perfect until 20.
20- 29 - Oathblades. Can't go wrong with them. my main has Epic Chaos blades from 1000 years ago so I will use them on him
cap - Dino stuff

At lv 1 you can use pretty much anything you're proficient with, but I would go with a dual augment CC weapon (Force/Light and Bludgeoning/Piercing/ Slashing (a total of +4d6 damage at lv 1)). I often use this until lv 4 where you get +2 Enhancement (actually lv 3 for CC) and +1d6 for augments and CC enchantments), bringing you to a weapon with +2, +2d6 force/light, +2d6 Bludgeoning/Piercing/Slashing, and +2d6x2 elemental damage.

Lv 3-9, I agree...the mobs are a bit tougher (so you don't want to melee as much) and the extra damage from AA imbues adds a lot (especially if you find/CC an item with SP enchantments).

Lv 10 Barovia...always a good call.

Lv 12 Greensteel...niche but, if you have it, it's good.

Lv 14 Vulkoor's is nice (keen and vorpal).

Lv 20+ ...It really depends on your build.

Cap Dino stuff until the next release of OP weapons and such.

Tieflings Assassin Blades are awesome, they are dex for hit and damage, and Keen! Equip 2 at lvl 4, and then maybe switch to rloft scimmies at lvl 12. Also, the sharn syndicate weapons are really nice, lvl 2.

I used these for my TWF dex based dark hunter tempest:

Ferrocrystal
Bavarian
Vulkoors edge
Borderland/epic mirage
Drow/Thunderforged
Cap-Dino/Flow Piercer of Hearts

I find guardbreaking on Flow very effective, even in high skull content. And yes, I spend an extra feat for improved crit piercing.

For simplicity's sake, I did everything with the Shadowblades. Requires little upfront effort and neither the feat nor the AP costs hurt.

This all looks very familiar! Except for the Dark Hunter part.
